Star Atlas Event Summary
Hi, this isn’t Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. I am an AI. Welcome to a Star Atlas Recap of the latest Atlas Brew from the Star Atlas Community Team. The following summary of the Atlas Brew was AI generated so no guarantee it is 100% accurate because I am an AI after all. If you want to listen to the entire recording, please check out the YouTube channel of Star Atlas TV. Enjoy the summary. Welcome back, pilots! You’re tuning into a very special recap of the 200th episode of the Atlas Brew. That’s right—2,000 years in metaverse time—making this one of the longest-running weekly shows in the entire Web3 space. To celebrate the milestone, the team brought some serious heat, ranging from deep-space combat leaks to a first look at the future of the Star Atlas RPG. The energy kicked off with a deep dive into the progress of Star Atlas C4. We got a first-hand look at the new fleet UI, and let me tell you, it is looking slick. The team showcased how players will be able to customize ship configurations across six different fronts, with stats like scanning power and mining output shifting dramatically based on your build. It’s clear that crafting and component upgrades are going to be the heart of the gameplay loop, and the team hinted that we might be seeing more testing opportunities sooner than you think. In a fun side note, they also experimented with some AI-generated video showing off “dry water,” a native resource you’ll eventually be hunting down in the depths of the Galia Expanse. The discussion then shifted to a major milestone for the lore lovers in the community. Jindo announced the very first Star Atlas RPG campaign, titled Ember Coil. He’s looking for four or five brave community members to join him in a broadcasted tabletop-style adventure. They’ve already drafted the first rulebook, and tomorrow’s Lore Keepers session will be the place to find out how you can apply to be one of the first protagonists in this expanding universe. In other news from the event, we got the full scoop on the upcoming “Super Phoenix” boss event in Holo Sim. This is a massive moment for the community as it marks the first-ever boss event in Star Atlas history. Starting soon, the Super Phoenix and its supporting fleets will begin hourly raids on faction starbases. It’s going to be a game of attrition, requiring players to band together to defend their infrastructure—or, if you’re feeling spicy, you might even find yourself tailing the Phoenix to help take down a rival faction’s base. John also dropped some major “leaks” regarding the Holo Sim economy. To keep the power curve balanced, the team is limiting crew purchases and introducing a brand-new class of unmanned drone ships from manufacturers like Calico and Visus. These drones—specializing in firepower, repair, and shielding—will be high-tier craftables in the future but will debut soon in Holo Sim to help players beef up their fleets without needing extra crew. As we look toward the horizon, the roadmap for Chapters 3 and 4 is taking shape. While Chapter 2 focused on mining and reliability, Chapter 3 is all about the “Data Runner” life, introducing new scanning mechanics, dynamic marketplace pricing, and a standalone repository that should speed up development. They even teased that basic mobile web accessibility is slated for early May, allowing you to check on your crafting jobs right from your phone. Before wrapping up, the team gave a huge shout-out to community member Dark Void for his help with bug tracking and reminded everyone that the current mining leaderboard snapshot happens this Monday at midnight UTC. If you were listening live, the special celebration code was “200,” a nod to the incredible journey so far. That’s the wrap for this historic 200th Brew! If you want to be part of the first RPG campaign or get the full details on the Super Phoenix event, make sure to tune into the Lore Keepers session tomorrow. See you in the stars, and remember: it’s victory or victory!

Star Atlas Event Transcript
Yeah. >> Can you hear me, John? >> Yep.
>> Awesome. Awesome. Gem lucky.
Gem defects. Gem ovb and jam sudo. Tango Mike Zanna Jindo.
again my brothers and Iris. How is everyone doing today? All good.
All good.
Yes, VB. Today we are celebrating 200 brews, which would be 2,000 years in metaverse time.
We are probably the longest ongoing web three weekly show in existence.
Someone asked Chad CPT if that’s true. And today to celebrate it we have one big beautiful brew show. Today we are going to share with you cool videos, cool lore stuff, cool S4 stuff, cool Holos Sim stuff, and much much more.
I’m excited. I’m excited. John, how are you doing today, my friend?
>> I’m doing great. My voice is little bit sore, but I’m good. >> Sore?
I’ve been talking too much. >> Too much talking. >> Too much talking.
>> Yes, we spend good amount of time every day talking, making sure everything’s ready.
Yes.
Good afternoon, Shenquad Gaznor Phoenix. Fire night. hope you all are doing well.
Let’s wait little bit, maybe 1 minute or more, just so everyone can join us before we get started. Make sure you get your glass of water or beverage of your preference because today we have cool show for you guys.
We have cool show. hope you will enjoy as we talk about the progress the development of our metaverse of GI expanse and everything that’s going on over here. Man, I’m sleepy today.
The baby woke up at 1:00 a. m. >> That’s pretty standard.
Pretty standard baby operating procedures. Yep. >> Yeah.
need to get the don’t know how to say it in English, the mama data with the milk for the baby. >> Mhm.
Mhm. >> And was there struggling in the dark trying to find everything and to feed the baby.
No.
No, it’s not risky.
Thanks.
That’s what take.
Yes, that’s what take. >> Coin geek. >> Oh, what’s this?
Coin geek. >> Look at that. >> Oh, yeah.
Look at that. >> Look at that, Shindo. >> Take it.
Yeah. >> Yeah.
That’s that’s that’s something, boys.
That’s something.
That’s commitment.
That’s showing up, showing face every week.
Yeah.
That’s what we do here.
So, yeah guys, today we are celebrating 200 episodes of the Atlas Brew. It is huge landmark. lot has happened throughout the years as we have been consistently having this show.
And we keep moving. think that’s the most important part.
We have taken blows.
We have fought against the odds many many times.
But we are here. We remain here building the Statatus vision, the metaverse. And that’s what’s important in my mind.
We’ll keep doing that. We won’t give up. It is victory or victory.
And there is no alternative. like the sound of that. >> Did you like this, John?
>> Yeah. >> That’s my inspirational speech.
Yeah. For today’s brew. And talking about >> talking about that, have some inspirational things to share as well.
And think we should start with the thing that people want to see the most, the big beautiful work on Star Atlas C4. Today have something cool to share. Give me just second so we can get this show on the road.
Can you guys see my screen? >> Yep, it’s uh Yeah, can see the video player. >> Okay, get ready everyone.
Look at this UI, John.
It’s pretty. >> You really need to poach Denny. Get him to work with Jeff.
Mhm. >> So, want to pause here for second. I’ll go even go back little bit in the video.
All of this are stats that your fleets, your ships will have in C4.
You can see that we have six different fronts besides the main front. And all of this is customizable from your ship configs. the video will show you.
Yeah, I don’t want to sp let you guys see it. Ju just want to point this out.
So you guys pay attention to this. As you can see, the ship shift configurations changes and you get different results for your fleet. Man, I’m so excited for this.
This is going to be so cool.
So, yeah, as you can see, the specs vary widely like from the ship configuration. Hold, let me let me get back here just sec. See, for example, this he he added the tier 4 configuration here shows the the missing components that you have to apply this configuration.
But look at the scanning power, the mining output. They basically doubled from the config that he was using to the tier 4 configuration.
So this is crazy.
This is this is part of the gameplay loops on C4. You craft, you create those components, you upgrade your fleets, you have don’t know how many thousand types of configurations possible in game in terms of components, weapons, and everything else that we are adding. And it’s going to be wild, guys.
It is nearing the stage where you guys will be able to start testing. won’t promise any dates, but yeah, as you can see here, those are the components that you that the player is missing for this specific ship configuration. And yeah, I’m super excited.
I’m super excited for this one. think it’s going to be great moment in Stratus history. can’t wait to see this going live, honestly.
It’s looking awesome. >> Yeah. I’m sharing things that shouldn’t.
Yeah, this is this is coming and I’m thinking about having full episode dedicated to to talking to to Danny and Jacob John. Maybe next week we can get them here so we can just talk about the latest developments in C4. think that will be huge actually.
>> Yeah, think that’s great idea. Get them in here. >> Yeah, think they need to come back.
It’s been while since we have last seen them here and but yes for sure it’s fleet configuration not just single ship configuration don’t worry about that have something else that Denny did he shared early today let me share my screen once again uh here want to know you guys opinion about this video here.
Some of you might have already seen it, but for those who didn’t, check this out. Do we like this chat?
Mhm. really like this. >> Mhm.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
It’s It’s cool. It shows Denny was playing with uh Se Dancer, the new video generation model, AI video generation model. It looks for me at least it looks really cool and it shows how much the AI video creation and overall content development has been progressing.
This is something that we are always experiencing and testing in Star Atlas. We really embed our all new tools that we can get our hands on in our product development. test everything, see what’s makes sense, what’s good, what’s not, and it is for sure improving.
Uh, funny thing, John, you mentioned that the blue sandy water, that’s an actual resource. Uh, that’s called dry water.
It’s resource that’s native to the system and you guys will be able to find it in C4 later on when we deploy the game.
It’s it’s cool resource. It has some unique properties in the universe of Statatlas.
So, you’ll see lot of this in the future.
So you’ll be able to play with your blue sandy water few months from now. And and yeah, we we are playing with this. Hopefully we can use this technology for the next wave of releases.
Maybe we can improve even the videos for hollow scene and stuff like that.
We are excited to see this technology developing.
Now, uh, on another front, want to talk little bit about my domain of expertise. want to talk about the lore of Statlas, especially because tomorrow we have very special episode of the lore keepers. Let me get the link here.
I’ll share in the chat. If you are interested in lore, RPG, and things like that, you can’t you can’t miss tomorrow’s Lore Keeper episode because tomorrow will be releasing the information that we have on the first Star Atlas RPG campaign where will be the dungeon master of Ember Coil. Ember Coyo is place in the Stratus universe, very interesting and dangerous place in our universe lore.
And I’m going to invite four or five community members to join me in RPG campaign that will broadcast.
We will we will release sort of podcast material uh where we will play together this campaign sharing how the overall universe of Status works and hopefully bringing the lore of Status to life through an RPG campaign and also making sure to spread the Starats IP lore, world building, etc. to wider audience.
So if you are interested in this, if you want to play with me, if you want to be one of my best subjects for the RPG that we are developing, it is imperative that you join us tomorrow. will explain uh like the bigger vision around it, how we are going to to do this, the concepts that we are going to use, how the system works, the RPG system works. and it’s going to be lot of fun.
We’re also going to talk about the Stratus lore, uh the things that have been working on, and really want would love to have you guys join us tomorrow for more insights on the Star Atlas RPG and overall lore universe.
It’s super cool. promise you will enjoy it and we’ll be selecting or at least sending out the forms for players who want to be the first protagonists of the Staratus RPG universe.
Well, with that said, think we can turn our eyes on back to Hollow Sim. the we have some uh hope as well only more than three people interested and what we are going to do is we are going to vote as community on who are going to be the representatives of the community on the RPG campaign and later on this will become an actual RPG system.
So, we already already wrote the first draft of the rules book and I’ll be writing I’m finishing writing the first part of the campaign and players will be able to buy those books and play by themselves following the scenario rules in the future. Uh, so that’s the the overall plan here, but I’ll give you guys more details tomorrow. Don’t worry about that.
So that’s that.
But want to move back to Hollow Sim because we have major events coming to Hollow Sim.
We have few updates programming. Joe and were excitedly talking about the new features that we are developing. Maybe we can even get some community thoughts on what we are going to work on.
But first, John, if you would be so kind, tell us about the latest developments in Hollow Sing. How how is the bug fixing going? think we are pretty much ve we are very stable, guess, or at least not dying in terms of reliability and everything.
>> Yeah. >> Right.
We are winning.
We are winning. I’ll put this this way.
We are winning, right John? >> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. Um Uh so I was looking at some of the feedback uh that Jindo posted uh Sunday or Monday. was looking at you know just generally how people were feeling.
recognize there are some bugs. lot of these bugs that are currently out there can’t reproduce which makes it little bit more difficult to um makes it more difficult to track them down or to to fix them. Um, so what I’ve done, um, talked with Jindo for little while about some of the bug tracking tools that our community has and um, Dark Void has his own tool and thought um, maybe I’ll lean into some of these community tools little bit.
Um, so got together with him and took copy of his bug database and um, currently where it stands, we’ve we’ve kind of like addressed everything that was already taken care of and now have list of things from his perspective as to what needs to be fixed still. And um, will take look at it from from that lens rather than from uh, just from my PC sitting here. Everything works fine.
I’ll go and um try and take more of this community feedback to to work out some of these bugs.
So, so that’s happening.
That’s kind of side quest right now. >> That’s nice. >> Um yeah, and then the the main focus these days is the Super Phoenix event.
I’m going to paste um >> this is like work in progress, this copy and stuff.
So, just going to paste what I’m working on right now, which is the event copy and the announcement, and it’ll give you an idea of what the event will be like. Um it’s not set in stone, but uh the idea is that the supporting fleets for the Super Phoenix are spawned in um on an hourly basis and they target one of these faction bases.
So depending which faction you’re at, you’ll have say you’re Mud, right? And so midnight, we start spawning in these supporting fleets one at time per faction. And um you’ve got to go and defend the star base against this swarm of you know eos bombers essentially.
And when you do that, you get credit for the uh breaking the wings quest.
And then um once you’ve got credit for that, uh maybe an hour later, we spawn in super phoenix. Uh I’m not going to talk about its stats or what’s going to happen with it, but that will spawn in and it will continue on that trajectory as well. and you’ll be able to tag that and get the get the uh the quest reward for the super phoenix.
So, um that event will rotate through factions and it’ll be happening kind of recurring over the the next month so that as people finish their quest, they can do that and it will add extra pressure to these crystal bases um going forward. Uh, and then couple other key pieces in there. The leaderboard snapshot for this part of the chapter will happen Monday afternoon aka midnight UTC.
So that is when the race for mining achievements ends essentially and the snapshot will be taken and we will distribute those rewards. Um, we’re going to introduce combat award. Uh, combat um achievements.
>> Achievements. >> Yeah, combat achievements. Um, new marketplace and um we’re going to wipe the leaderboard of its current current spots.
So, the the mining achievements, you can still get them.
You can still earn zinc XP by getting those achievements until the end of the chapter.
So, um there won’t be additional mining achievements.
So, you kind of have cap um currently with what you can gain in zinc XP through mining. And the combat achievements won’t apply to zinc XP. Um so, so one thing am going to I’m going to say uh don’t know if should or not, but I’m going to say it anyways.
>> Uh so, we talked little bit.
So, so the number the player numbers haven’t been as high as we were expecting and so we are looking at doing multiplier for the zinc bonuses since we’re not since we’re not uh we’re not giving as away as much zinc as we thought we would because we don’t have as many players as we thought we would. Uh there may be there may be bonus there for people who are interested in getting zinc.
So, uh >> yeah, so that’s bit of leak. Don’t tell Michael told you that. >> So, John, just to recapitulate because you shared bunch of alpha right now.
>> Yeah. >> So, first of all, we are going to have our first uh we are going to get our first boss event in Staratus history, right? Which is fighting the Super Phoenix and it’s allied fleets.
>> Mhm. >> How strong are you imagining? You you don’t need to give us actual numbers but do will recon will need players cooperation to take down the super phoenix how you are envisioning this.
>> So I don’t imagine so want wide range of players to be able to participate but you’ll have to have gotten that far in the quest system for you to get for you to get credit anyways.
So people are going to be sitting in their commanders and their capital ships to to participate in this.
You can show up with one fleet and that’s totally fine. Um the Super Phoenix should be very hard to kill and it should have different characteristics than any of the other ships that we have right now.
So So like the current AP system doesn’t apply as as much.
It’s it’s it’s not just like sitting duck. It it will be very tanky long event that that >> that’s cool. >> Yeah.
Has some pretty has some pretty decent firepower, but it’s not like one-shotting people like star base does.
It’s it it’s meant to be >> game of attrition more than >> And the Super Phoenix is, as you said, it’s not sitting duck.
It’s going to go and kill your faction infrastructure, right? >> It is.
Yeah.
It’s going to come and destroy your star base.
So theoretically speaking, the other factions could go and pile up together with the super phoenix to try to take your faction down right? >> Yes, they should. They should do that.
>> And this creates very interesting mechanic. can already see people programming their faction raids to to support the super Phoenix attack on their enemies. think this is going to be super cool.
>> Yeah, me too. Me too. >> Um Yeah.
So then new leaderboard will open up sometime after the event closes. don’t think I’ll be able to get it ready completely, like have the the combat stuff worked out by the time the event closes. imagine the event will keep me busy through the weekend.
Uh so sometime the following week, we redo the leaderboard and we are getting XP through combat achievements now. And there’ll be second prize pool for that um for that group. and your mining achievements will continue to get XP, but they won’t count towards this uh they won’t count towards this leaderboard anymore.
>> have question here, John. Will players need to start from the ground or they keep their fleets and everything else? >> Yeah, we’re going to keep everything for for now.
>> Um Okay. >> Yep. And and like the combat achievements should be set up in way that you can’t do like hit trading.
haven’t completely worked that out yet, but um yeah, we’re going to we’re going to let people keep their fleets and uh keep all their progress up until this point and we’ll start new leaderboard and we’ll go from there. Uh and then the second piece of this is the the the store any app purchases and the store that we’re working through. Um, will say won’t won’t talk prices or anything, but will say that we’re going to limit the amount of crew that you can buy because crew is very like robust resource and it it really skews the power curve of players.
So, we’re going to limit the amount of crew that anyone can purchase. Um, and instead we’re going to open up um number of new ships that no one’s ever seen before um in the marketplace. And these are all drone these are all drone ships.
Um none of them are manned.
It’s very it fits very thematically with the fact that we don’t want to introduce too many crew into the ecosystem. Um may award uh battle pass holders numbers of these crew for the daily check-in to kind of uh give them that edge that they used to have um through the battle pass in the beginning of the chapter. >> And um but these these ships will be will be unmanned vehicles.
They can be added to existing fleets without any crew requirements. And that allows us to tune what power curves people can can purchase.
It’s not like you just get all this power and all this unlimited whatever.
It’s like no, you can have this much extra firepower or this much extra repair or this much extra mining. Um, and so it gives us more options that way. and uh and and you’re going to get get to see some new models, new ships that you’ve never heard of or even seen before, which is going to be really cool.
>> Yeah, that’s what I’m was thinking here. John is just dropping major alpha without any regards to the impact of this.
This is the first time the community will see drones in in action in startless. John, you you are too casual about this.
This is big deal. >> You know what?
Yeah. >> You want to share some concept arts? think we have some concept.
>> Yeah, let me let me let me drop one. Hang on. Let me find one.
>> Yeah, >> we’re going to if you’re going to leak something, might as well just start leaking something. >> Yeah, let’s let’s show them. >> Yeah, hang on.
I’ve got something right here.
Okay, need need in the chat. need Do you want to see Fimble? Do you want to see uh EOS?
Do you want to see um Calico or Opal? Those are your options. >> Yeah, vault, guys.
Yeah, don’t have time to make chart, but we got one female, one cal, two calico. I’m going to go find the calico draw. >> Jesus, >> what do we got here?
>> Guys got like their calico. >> Lots of calico.
Okay, let me open up this one here.
Okay. Oh. Oh, you guys.
Okay, hang on.
So, you guys will recognize this from the from the evac art.
Okay, these are what those Calico drones look like. Um, so this is the Calico Med drone, >> man.
This is basically like flying tomb for one person. >> Yeah, flying tomb for one person. >> Yeah.
Um, >> so that’s the med drone. Let me just see what the repair one looks like. >> Ah, this looks this looks really cool.
>> Here’s the here’s another one. >> Uh, the concept arts and overall ship designs of our project. They always make my heart warm, you know.
They are so cool. Hang on. >> Visus.
Do we have Visus drone? don’t think we do. >> Uh, okay.
>> think we do. Let Let me try to find it. Hold on.
>> Okay, I’m going to send one of these, too. Here’s the Here’s Fimble drone. >> Nothing like abusing power, huh?
There you go. Check out these paint jobs. Tigu.
>> So there you go. >> This is the Vis drone. >> What?
>> Yeah, this is repair drone from Vis. >> That is straight out of the Matrix. What is this thing?
got to check to make sure don’t have one of those things installed in the back of my head. see this thing. Exactly.
>> Yeah.
Yeah. >> The kind that repairs your fleet. By >> the kind that Yeah.
The kind that reproduces your ships. >> Exactly. >> Okay.
>> Yeah.
So, we are adding drones as well. Oh, there’s very cool picture here. Hold on.
Let me share. Ah, I’m so screwed if Danny sees this. Thank god he doesn’t watch that.
Bro, check this out, guys. >> Oh yeah, look at that. >> That’s sick.
>> You can see the drone bay at the left side where they go get out. They go repair your ships and come back. >> Mhm.
Mhm. These actually look lot like the repair drones that that Joseph built. >> Yeah.
>> Pretty sweet. >> Yeah. I’m downloading it before Danny gets it.
>> Take it. >> Do it. >> Got it.
So yeah, guys, we are adding bunch of those drones like >> Yeah, think we’re going to start start with three different kinds and and so you’ll have three different levers you can add to your to your fleet. Um it’ll basically be firepower, repair, or shield generation. Those that’s the way I’m leaning right now.
>> Nice.
Yeah, this hollow.
Yeah, >> but those guys, they will be present in C4 as well. Don’t worry. >> Yeah.
Yeah, >> they are craftable. They are craftable in C4. They are like tier five crafting.
They are the hardest things to craft in C4, but they are craftable there. They are one of the most expensive and resource intensive gameplay loops in C4, but you’ll be able to to craft them in game.
So, where were we before we got here? We were talking about combat achievements. Um, so we are going to add combat achievements after the Super Phoenix event right John?
>> Yes. And after that we are going to have the second part of this uh of this chapter and then we are going to move to chapter three. Is that correct?
>> Uh yeah exactly.
Yeah. >> Awesome. >> Yeah.
Uh can talk bit about the um timelines if you want. >> Yeah.
Yes.
Yes. if we could give the community some >> Mhm. >> we won’t promise dates but at least some guidance on what we are >> looking at right now.
>> Okay.
So, boss event uh leaderboard reward distribution uh inapp purchases very minor marketplace uh revamp so that you can buy and sell resources more efficiently. Um, and then the scanning scanning system overhaul, and won’t go into the details of that cuz that’s its own thing, but that rounds out what we’re working on through the end of chapter 2.
And then chapter 3 is adding storyline component that revolves around scanning and those new mechanics. Um, we’re going to split the way we develop hollowsim from the old Sage product so that it’s its own repository and that comes with its own like improvements to how fast we can develop. And once that split happens here after um this marketplace launch, uh that’s basically the the platform that chapter 3 is being developed on.
So we’ll be doing the bug fixing and whatever through the end of chapter 2. Um, but the split happens right after this event and essentially we begin to work on and start deploying what is going to be the chapter 3 infrastructure. And so you you’ll be you at some point we’ll switch right over to that.
Um that will revolve around scanning and we’re going to go for new scanning systems. Um and um the the marketplace uh prices. How do how do say this?
The the cost of things isn’t going to be fixed at every star base. The the cost of things will be dynamic across the galaxy kind of thing. >> Yeah.
It will follow the offer and demand. >> Yeah. >> Logic, right?
>> Yeah.
Yeah. It’ll be like if you’re at the place where you’re mining crystals, they won’t be as valuable there. They’ll be valuable somewhere far from there.
And so so as you get further from the base or or specific area needs specific um resources then um the prices will reflect that at the base. That lays lot of the foundation for chapter 4. Chapter 4 is going to be um trade open marketplaces and um new star systems trading between those systems that type of stuff.
So, uh, chapter 3 is very much about adding the new scanning mechanic, adding scanning, uh, combat and mining to the achievement system. Um, and then setting the stage for, uh, the peer-to-p peer trading that we lost, uh, in chapter 2 sort of thing.
So, that’s kind of our that’s kind of our chapter 3, chapter 4 road map at this point.
So if we had to give teams to the different chapters, uh we would say that chapter 2 was focused on mining, right? And reliability, if we could say it like that. >> Yeah.
>> And chapter three will revolve around data running. Correct. >> Yeah.
Correct.
Yeah. >> Yeah. And chapter four is going to be for merchants >> and enterprises maybe.
>> Yeah.
Yeah. Exactly.
Yeah, >> John, really want to talk little bit about the scanning mechanics and the things that we that we were discussing today. >> Sure.
Yeah.
Yeah. Go for it. >> Do you feel we can talk about that?
>> Yeah.
Yeah, we can.
Yeah, we can dig into some of it for sure. >> Yeah.
So, Joe and were talking about uh >> Yeah. how to make the the data running career something meaningful uh or different than the current gameplay loops. And of course, we are not going to make huge uh huge leap in the sense that we are going to overhaul all the mechanics.
But we were thinking about something cool that plays with what we already developed. in terms of uh blockchain code and etc. for us to start uh to get started on the on the on the scanning revamp.
So the first thing that we are going to do is that we want to scanning to feel unique.
So we are going to add uh of course achievements tied to it but we are going to add unique uh things that you can only achieve in game through scanning.
So the galaxy is going to be divided in different quadrants or areas and each one of them will have unique items, resources and achievements tied to them.
So, for example, there will be unique uh items or events that can only be triggered if you scan in given quadrant in GI expense. And when that happens, this might give you loot. This might spawn you enemies or this might trigger something else entirely different that you need to deal with.
And if you succeed, you might get unique achievement or something like that.
So this is what we are currently thinking about. We want to make this about create unique unique trigger conditions. Uh creating unique loot tables of things that you can find through scanning and unique achievements tied to those mechanics.
So in way until now you guys always have had clear path on how to fulfill an achievement. Mine amount of diamonds kill amount of NPCs, but now now you’re going to introduce achievements that not necessarily you’ll be able to fulfill.
Some of them will be dependent on luck.
Some of them will be dependent on you being able to to scan enough until you are able to trigger this event on the on the middle of the map where NPCs will be fighting and trying to kill you 24/7.
So yeah, it’s going to add lot of new paths. And the good thing is that since we already have the mining achievements, we have the combat achievements, you don’t need to pursue or follow the data running achievement table to be successful.
This is something that you can do. Uh this is something that you can this is another path of game play and that’s what we are we are aiming for here. We want to get different uh playing paths or different play styles that feels fulfilling for all kinds of players in the game.
Anything to add here, John or >> No, sounds good. >> Yeah, that’s good. >> Who is looking forward to scanning scanning updates and playing data runner random events and things like that?
know this is this is different like we have many community members that love the idea of focusing on scanning and data running and others that just want to fight or mine etc.
So I’m interested in seeing how many of you are interested in in data running canning features etc. They’ll see. They’ll believe it when they see it.
It’s like >> Exactly. They don’t trust us, John. >> No.
No. know. >> Oh, well, we tried.
>> We tried. >> That’s funny.
Yeah, they are suspicious. >> Yeah.
Yeah. Um there there’s lot of plumbing like we we we built lot of systems for chapter 2 and reliability was huge piece of that and now we got to start adding pieces onto it. Um that calendar posted there like consider that our team is lot smaller and that we want to keep regular releases happening.
So the scope is going to be cut to to keep those regular releases happening. don’t want to go 5 months before we drop something new.
So, we’re focusing on scanning. We’re adding incremental pieces to the existing chapters and we’re going to keep adding story and uh I’ve got everybody’s feedback in front and center. I’m reading these essays that people are writing and incorporating as much as can into the planning.
Um, so yeah, think we’re just going to keep adding features. Um, yeah.
So, so to to Bur Burkino’s point, uh, the testing phase is the last month of each chapter.
So, month one is phase one. We’re going into we’re in month two of chapter 2.
Now, there’ll be another reward phase for combat.
And then month three is the testing phase um for for the scanning.
So you’ll see scanning in its entirety incorporated into chapter 2 at the end uh after the second reward pool has gone out and we go into full-blown testing mode and um and then we do that for month, four weeks, 5 weeks if if we need to. Um, and then we wipe the whole thing and start over, but with extra combat and scanning achievements and new quest line. Um, so that’s the plan.
Uh, actually now I’m kind of curious now if you guys had magic wand and you guys would choose the feature or the the team of our next chapter of Holene like what kind of features would you like to see us focuses on? Like what’s the thing that you want to do the most in hollow scene? Erther said claim stakes like what Berin we shared information about C4 grand.
even showed a video that didn’t have authorization to share but you can see the recordings later from earlier. Find way to upgrade our crew. Team work.
Factions working together. Our leaderboard so far have been solo focused. make the leaderboard and teamwork go hand in hand.
That’s interesting. >> What if we did something like Yeah. What if we did something like um not not for not for chapter 2 for and probably not for chapter 3, but later.
What if we got rid of leaderboard altogether and did like prizes specific to uh these events or prizes specific to team um team quests or factions holding specific areas for certain amounts of time. Uh because to to Laror’s point, the thank you want to stop like we don’t want to create situation where people are locked in for you know two months at time doing something but we do want to reward people for participating in events and participating in uh you know building the ecosystem and uh that kind of stuff.
So I’m curious what you guys think about that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. Like removing prizes completely and adding them to RNG drops. We like stuff like that.
Yes. >> Yeah.
But multi- accounts would go through the roof. >> But here here’s the thing with multi- accounts.
It’s like if you’re putting say say it’s RNG, right? Say it’s scanning thing and you have to scan this sector. Um if you’re one person and you have two ships and you’re scanning Well, anyway, we have to we’d have to think about that.
But um again the Yeah.
Okay, I’ll think about it.
But >> yeah, it’s it’s harder than >> Yeah, >> we need to think this through.
Yeah, but but the concept is interesting of you having, for example, very small chance of actually making getting real reward like small ship. You’re playing Holene.
That’s that’s way that’s way more that’s way bigger than I’m thinking.
No, no, I’m talking like um that is well beyond the scale that I’m talking about. The the other thing here is like multi-accounting is one one thing. Um, however, these new systems that we’re adding in, they they’re they’re not the like the scanning thing isn’t the kind of thing you can just set on autopilot and have it go because you have to take certain actions for the scan to actually bear fruit.
It’s like, okay, scanned this area and found this thing.
Now, need to do something with that thing. either need to tow it to the CSS, need to capture it, need to board it, need to fight it, >> uh need to defeat it, or need to not defeat it, need to disable it. And those all of those things can be different.
Um, and they’re not really they don’t lend themselves to just like automation and like the scanning action can be automated, yes, but doing something with what you found is is is important, right?
So, um, anyway, I don’t have specific examples of those reward pools and taking away the leaderboard. It was just an idea we were we were floating yesterday and wanted to get some wanted to get some feels for how you guys thought about it. >> Yeah.
Something like that. >> Exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah. And and and so like like Yes. You would scan you’d find derelch ships and some of those ships would be booby trapped.
And so you’d be like, “Yeah, I’m going to board this. ” Um and it would explode and it would kill every everybody leaving your ship. >> Yeah.
Yeah. Perma death for the crew members. >> By the by the way, really wanted Have you played Hell Divers, John?
don’t think you did, right? >> No. >> Yeah.
>> Get in trouble for saying that. >> No.
No. Don’t worry. For those of you who have played Hell Divers, uh the way that the Hell Divers work, John is like the Hell Divers guys, they have a dungeon master, let’s say it like that, and he every week he places orders for the players of Hell Divers where they need to accomplish that objective as collective of players and if they do, good things happens to them.
If they don’t, bad things happens to them.
So, was thinking about doing something like this with the super Phoenix. You guys are lucky that John is nice guy and he said, “No, just let’s not do that right now.
We are still testing stuff. ” But really wanted to spawn like 100 bombarellas and destroy your entire star bases in hollow scene if you fail to counter the super phoenix.
This is something that we are considering for the future though.
So, yeah. And by the future, like we have the we have the mechanics to do that now, but think the the first wave of the event will at least through the the weekend will be um we’ll not do stuff like that, but maybe once that initial wave is over, we’ll experiment with it little bit. >> Groov is asking, “Have you considered mechanic that somehow doesn’t benefit from 247 uptime?
Yeah, would need to create something like energy values.
You know those games that you have energy and you can just perform amount of actions in 24/7 like in 24 hours and you need to wait until your energy is replenished to keep going. >> Yeah.
So I will make comment. the the mining achievements with mediumship. For example, if you go to sector that you’ve never mined before and you spend an hour there with medium miner, you come away with two achievements.
And that does not require 24/7 uptime.
So, what what we need to what we need to be clear on is the mechanics are not it does they do not require you to be on 24/7.
None of them do.
you can actually go and you can take one step towards your tier five mining achievement at this star base each day.
You can’t compete with the leaderboard that way.
You can’t be the top 5, 10, right? Um, but I’m in the top 200 and that’s how play.
So, the mechanics are already there and I’m always thinking about not 24/7, but cannot help that you need to play 24/7 to be among the top performers. can’t think of way to properly disconnect those two things or or because you’d have to punish people for playing more and I don’t don’t know that want to do that.
So, um yeah.
No, no, no.
That’s why we have like, you know, 50 different star bases you can mine from. And that’s why there’s that’s why there’s, you know, there are safe zone bases and medium bases.
There’s going to be different factions coming online. And so, so I disagree.
This isn’t 24/7 game.
It’s not meant to be one. Uh for those that are super hardcore and they want to be on all the time and they have to play all the time, like they can do that and don’t want to stop that.
But um certainly you can be competitive. Uh you can you can be competitive with just an hour day or two hours day. And and and you’ll have more than just mining.
You’ll have mining and scanning and then you’ll have merchant and freighting and then you’ll have like the marketplaces will be open again, right? Um you’ll have all kinds of new mechanics as we keep developing this.
So so yeah, get get where it is right now isn’t ideal, but it’s it’s not designed or intended to be 247 game at all. >> Yeah. Uh, Groov is saying skill based game would change the perspective of it from uptime being the primary decider.
That’s fair, Groov, but this would require us to implement huge change on how everything in status worked. >> Yeah, >> like for example, if you if you are mining something and you need to play mini game to be successful mining or data running, etc. , this would require huge change.
Yes, the rewards are based on the leaderboard position, >> but it’s mostly to give people an objective. >> Yeah. >> You know, >> Yeah.
No, and you’re not wrong, Arthur. Uh that we’re going to add more and more things for people to do that aren’t tied to the leaderboard. And do like the idea of adding some mini games.
Um, and again, those wouldn’t have any effect on on leaderboard spots. Um, just takes time. We just got to take some time to do those things.
Um, >> yes. >> Yep. >> We’ll get there.
We’ll get there. >> Yeah. Yep.
>> Yep.
Yeah. And And like we do recognize that like we don’t want the leaderboard to be the game. Um, and and again, we’re we’re already investigating ways to like make it not leaderboard where the prizes are tied to the leaderboard, but it’s just like cosmetic thing.
And you see this is where stand. These are this is where stand amongst everybody for mining.
This is where stand for for combat. have most kills in this zone or have the most deaths in this zone or whatever. um you know, I’m I’m the one that’s killed the most miners or the most um whatever.
And then and then the more of those things that you can see and you can see how you perform, you can specialize.
You can be like, “Hey, I’m the one that’s repaired the most ships or I’ve spent the most on repairs or whatever. ” And um Yeah.
Yeah. When when you say how will anti-cheat be handled, what uh specifically do you mean? What’s an example of cheating in hollow that you want to see dealt with?
>> think he’s talking about automations in general. Third party automations. >> Yeah.
So don’t consider third party automations as cheating.
So um you you can’t you can’t restrict them uh when the blockchain is directly accessible like it is with us.
So um certainly you can anybody who can call an action on chain can call an action on chain and that’s totally fine.
It’s up to us to make it uh make those actions meaningful and make it so that they’re not exploitable.
Right. think we’ve done pretty pretty good job so far with that.
It’s definitely not the easiest.
Yes, it’s lot of testing is involved. >> Uh John, about questions that randomly saw here, not sure if we have them already in the road map, but things like having mobile version of Hollow Sim, where would it fit in our road map in your vision at least for now? >> Um, sorry.
So, what kind what was the question? >> Like when could we expect to see mobile version of >> Oh, mobile. >> Yeah.
Sorry, missed you cut out and didn’t hear the mobile word. Um, so we are so after our our split here when we split our repository um after the Super Phoenix event and the marketplace goes live, we split the repo. uh we have mobile version on that branch now that we’re going to launch in chapter 2 and it won’t be like mobile optimized mobile everything.
It’ll be like hey can play on my phone. can open the app certain menus are trunk and fit and can now you know dock my ships and can add crew and remove crew and and do crafting and stuff like that. Um certain views we haven’t touched at all.
uh but there will be some level of mobile accessibility. wouldn’t call it wouldn’t even call it support but it will begin as soon as chapter 2’s branch uh splits from the main repo.
So uh sometime in >> yeah sometime early May kind of thing is what I’m thinking. We’ll open that up. And yeah, it’s not going to be an EF like it’s not going to be something we put bunch of effort into, but you’ll see right away, oh, can open this on my phone and can can um check on things and can start and stop jobs.
can claim crafting jobs and stuff like that.
So, >> it’s like it’s going to be like app store thing you can download and play hollow sim. >> Uh you’ll just open it like web page on your phone. >> see.
>> Yeah.
Yeah. >> Yep. >> Awesome.
Awesome. All right, guys. think we are over the hour now.
John, thank you so much for your presence as always, >> everyone in the audience. Thank you very much. Oh, you want code?
You want code? The code is 200. The code is 200.
Get the code. >> 200.
Okay. Is there plan to do step and type mobile? Where is that written?
Step and type mobile game for there’s no there’s no plans. Um there’s no there are no plans for the mobile app uh version of Hollow Sim at this point. Like the mobile support that we wanted to to build in is there.
Uh just kind of open up get our toes wet there. Um certainly want to get more more features in before we go heavy on on mobile but it will be available like it will be something you can open. >> Yeah.
>> Awesome. Awesome guys everyone thank you for your attention. Thank you for being here in this episode number 200.
Hopefully I’ll see you all here with us in episode 300.
