Star Atlas Event Summary

Hi, this isn’t Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. I am an AI. Welcome to a Star Atlas Recap of the latest Atlas Brew from the Star Atlas Community Team. The following summary of the Atlas Brew was AI generated so no guarantee it is 100% accurate because I am an AI after all. If you want to listen to the entire recording, please check out the YouTube channel of Star Atlas TV. Enjoy the summary. Welcome back to another recap of the Atlas Brew! This week marked a massive milestone as the community gathered for Episode 198. Between some classic April Fools’ pranks involving fake pregnancies and bleached uniforms, the vibe was electric as the team dove into some of the most anticipated updates for the Star Atlas ecosystem. From a deep dive into a brand-new tabletop RPG to a first look at the C4 Public Test Realm, there was a lot to cover. The show kicked off with Jose sharing a passion project that’s been brewing behind the scenes: the Stratos RPG. While the game’s production continues at full speed, Jose has been using AI tools to fast-track a proprietary tabletop RPG system set within the Star Atlas universe. He introduced the “Amber Coil” campaign, a journey through the ruins of Harkens. This isn’t your standard class-based RPG; instead, it focuses on the unique biology and skill sets of the various species, like the augmentation-heavy humans or the high-risk, high-reward Ustur core mechanics. The goal here is to deepen the lore and give players a new way to interact with the IP, and Jose is even looking for community members to help playtest the system during future Lore Keepers meetings. The excitement shifted gears when the team shared an exclusive sneak peek at the C4 PTR. For those following the technical side of the metaverse, this was a big moment. The video showcased a complete starbase reconstruction with a slick, intuitive new UI designed by Danny. Beyond the aesthetics, the real news is the transition to the “Starframe” architecture. This new tech is proving to be much faster and more reliable than the previous Anchor-based system, which should mean fewer failed transactions and a much smoother experience for everyone. While a firm release date is still under wraps, the team confirmed it’s officially the next major project in the “shipping lane.” In other news from the event, the discussion moved to the latest updates for Holo Sim. To keep the gameplay fresh, the team is introducing over 300 new combat achievements. John and Jose joked that they wanted to give players “reasons to kill each other” beyond just mining, focusing on individual and faction-based goals. They also detailed a massive ship balancing pass. We’re looking at new stats like “shield break delay” and specialized repair roles that make smaller ships like the BYOS line more viable as defensive escorts. All of this leads up to the “Super Phoenix” event, a recurring AI-driven scenario where players will have to hunt down specific fleets and eventually face off against the Super Phoenix itself. The community spirit was on full display throughout the session. There was a huge shout-out to FunCracker, a pillar of the community, who was celebrating his birthday while simultaneously watching one of his DAO proposals pass by a landslide. Meanwhile, the team urged everyone to check the “Atom pip” vote, which was neck-and-neck, reminding everyone that in the Star Atlas DAO, every single vote truly counts. To wrap things up, the team reminded everyone to stay vigilant in the broader Solana ecosystem and keep an eye on the sneak peek channels for that C4 video. With Episode 200 just around the corner, the momentum is building. Make sure to get your DAO votes in before the deadlines, reach out to Jose if you want to join the RPG playtests, and we’ll see you in the next Brew!

Star Atlas Event Transcript

GM everyone. GM GM GM. How is everyone doing?

Can you guys hear me? John, can you hear me? Oh, yeah.

We can hear you. Awesome. Awesome.

How is everyone doing today? On April’s Fool. John, have you pranked anyone in April’s Fool?

>> Jindo and Emperor. Loaded up the wrong Atlas Brew channel. was little bit was little bar savage today.

Yeah. >> called my sister-in-law and told her Luciana, uh we have something My wife didn’t want to share this now, but I’m going crazy. need to tell someone this, you know.

And she was like, “What? What’s What’s going on? ” And was like, “Man, my mother is pregnant again.

” And she was like, “No way. Jesus, what are you going to do now? My God.

” She was super happy and etc. etc.

And then And then after 5 minutes of going on on this way and didn’t and say nothing, she was like, “You are pranking me, aren’t you? ” Yeah. >> [laughter] >> Oh, good good instincts.

was going to say that’d be pretty quick turnaround for your wife, so.

Yeah exactly. I’m glad it was funny.

Nice.

That’s funny. Have you guys in the audience pranked anyone today? Let me know in the chat.

My kids pranked me couple times and fell for all of them.

Yeah, they did.

Yeah.

Yeah. My my daughter said she washed her uniform in the laundry with bleach and got bleach all over it. was like, “Okay.

have to go and fix that. ” And uh and then my son came and told me that his lizard drowned. His pet lizard drowned.

needed to help him rescue it. was like, “Oh man, another another another terrible disaster. ” And yeah, fell for all of them.

Oh, look at this.

It’s Ronald’s birthday today. Is it your truly your birthday now, FunCracker? I don’t know.

You might be trying to prank me now. Congratulations, my friend. One of the pillars of this community.

We are blessed to have you here with us. Happy birthday, my friend. Jindo is saying his miner got stuck.

John, think he’s >> like he’s trolling me.

Yeah, he’s trying to get back to you.

Yes.

Yeah. I’m like scrambling looking through our chat history for his public key going, he’s probably probably pulling my chain right now. With that said, with this introduction, uh would like to welcome you all to our episode 198 of the Atlas Brew.

Uh it seems like it was yesterday when we started this crazy show every Wednesday talking about the future of the metaverse.

We are going growing old, Charles.

No. 198 weeks of doing Iris work. Feels proudful of this.

And today Today we actually have some cool stuff to share on many different fronts. Uh as you guys can see in our brew title, we have C4 PTR.

We have Holoscene new achievements. And we have RPG, which is something of kind of isolated uh effort from my part. Uh figured it would be an interesting way to expand expand our universe lore.

And since the lore is little bit ahead of everyone else in terms of production, figured would give it try and got some cool stuff to share with you guys today. Um John, where do you want to start?

We can talk about the Holoscene updates, the upcoming Holoscene updates. can show them. The stuff have on the C4 PTR.

Or we can talk about the Stratos RPG. I’ll let you pick. want to talk about the RPG first.

You want to talk about the RPG first?

Yeah. I’m like excited about that. I’m at Okay, we can talk about the RPG.

Emperor is giving very important news here. Emperor, can you share the links on the of the proposals?

We have two pips ending in few hours. Oh, he’s on mobile. Hold on.

I’ll get those for us. See.

We have the No, Jesus Christ. The Atom pip is so close. Jesus, every vote makes difference.

Literally, every vote makes difference right now.

So, go vote right now if you have polis stacked in. Go vote in the in the in the Atom pip. already voted.

We have lots of Jesus engagement on this one.

We have 25% of all polis voting.

This is insane.

This is super insane. And the other one? Come on, PC, run.

want to link the other one.

This is close.

This is as close as it gets.

Yeah. The other one is is passing with huge margin. As any proposal of our dear FunCracker would go.

Yeah, haven’t seen one closer yet either.

Yes, exactly. The abstaining is insane. It is insane.

don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this in our DAO.

So, guys, make sure to go there, make the difference.

It’s really important that you participate in our democracy. Man proof. Maybe.

Knowing FunCracker, maybe. The man is mastermind.

Okay, gave the DAO announcements. And let’s let’s warm things up. Let’s start talking about what’s going on in the Stratos ecosystem.

And we’ll get started with the RPG as per John’s requisition.

So, if you have been following the Stratos lore uh environment and ecosystem, I have been working on bringing to life the everything that have in terms of development in the Stratos lore. And the first piece of this puzzle was uh share with you guys the lore wiki alpha version, which will go and reshare now.

So, if you have not taken look at this yet, this here this piece here shares the the meat of our universe lore. Uh there are still some things that need to add to this wiki, but if you go there, you see that there is lot of content. Like lot lot lot lot that would take you days probably to read everything through.

And this will keep you occupied as you develop your knowledge base on what’s going on in Stratos.

So, realized that now that have this powerful tool, which is AI, it allows me to develop stuff much more quickly. And I’m not talking about doing the lore, but I’m doing talking about things like coding, reviewing, etc. etc.

Tools that allows me to build things pretty much on my own.

So, as am little bit ahead of everyone else in terms of development, figured that would start doing things that could do by myself that would bring value to Star Atlas ecosystem overall. And after the lore wiki, my second instinct was to find way to expand our IP while generating value to our players uh to allowing them to play game and etc. And it occurred to me through conversations in the lore keepers meetings that we have lots of people that love RPGs here in our community.

So, figured out to give it try and started writing my own RPG system and creating campaign from beginning to end based on the Star Atlas IP.

So, let me share my screen real quick here. Can you guys see it? Yep, we can see it.

Hold on, let me go to the top.

This is to uh the very first draft. sent this to couple people who are fans of table top RPGs. They are giving me back their feedback and if you are one of those and are interested in helping Star Atlas develop its RPG ecosystem or even lore system as whole, send me message.

We can get you in, discuss how you can help this development and provide feedback or even being one of the first people to test the scenario.

We are going to do this during our lore keepers episodes. Probably starting this very month, if not if not in the this next edition, surely in the one coming after.

So, uh here we have the first book of our RPG ecosystem.

It’s called Amber Coil. It is campaign that is set on the ruins of Harkens. If you are Nustar player, you’ll be familiarized with the northern part of the map where we have this sector here, Arken.

This is dungeon that lives inside that sector. And think this is really cool to share stuff like that because it gives you guys vision of how big and depth we can how much depth we can add to the Star Atlas universe. Like this is tiny place inside an enormous region in the galaxy that has five star systems.

Each system has many planets and etc. And this is place, singular place in this enormous universe.

But as you can as you see, we can create lot of interesting content even at mere speck of dust in terms of universe wise.

So, basically, this is rule book. It tells you how the system works, uh how the character creation works, how the flow of the the game plays, etc. etc.

And what’s the objective of the campaign, what the characters are doing, and I’ll give you very brief summary here.

So, the first part of the game is of course the char- character creation. And in Amber Coil, this campaign, we have uh our own proprietary RPG system created from ground. And different from other RPG systems, uh the Star Atlas universe RPG system, at least this first version here for this adventure, it’s not focused on classes and things like that.

It’s mostly focused on the species of our universes and how do you build your character character with name your species biological skill set or ability or skills framework.

So, we have here you can play as human, Mud, Ustur, Hypona, Profound Punaab, Sogmian, and Mirios. Each one of them has very different play styles. For example, was Sheriff John.

If you play human, you have access to augmentation technology.

So, you’ll be able to spec your character very strongly in any way that you want. And even in some circumstances, you can change your body modifications to tackle different problems and etc. The Usturs, on the other hand, they are stronger in terms of net modifiers than other species, but there are some heavy constraints on how they work, especially inside this particular dungeon that the story is taking place in the universe of Star Atlas.

So, the Ustur character is probably the hardest one to play because if you he has unique mechanic on how they use their core to empower themselves. And that can if misused or if the dices don’t roll in your favor of you overextend your character, you might risk losing them. The Punaabs, each one of them has different focus and they excel at different stuff.

But they are also very fresh fragile uh respecting their biology and etc. The Sogmians have the houses systems that you guys are if you are into the Star Atlas lore, you know that Sogmians have different houses. And those different houses, they govern the abilities that your character get.

And the Mirios, they get the abilities from their ancestry. They can use their grand tail and the stories that molded their civilization in their favors during the this dungeon exploration.

So, the game has attributes like strength etc. And it also has skills like the use of firearms etc. And made it so that no one is able to excel at everything, but you are able to create your character to deal with different kind of problems.

And it’s highly recommended that whenever you play this setup, you play with members of different species so you guys can help each other deal with the different threats that will appear in the game. Uh another thing that was telling John is that this RPG has lot of combat, but combat is not the only defining factor in your success. There are elements of own survival mechanisms like uh how you survive inside this dungeon with the resources that you find there.

There are many mechanics associated with excavenging, crafting items, uh terror like how your characters deals with the things that they find in the entrance of this forgotten world here. And exploration and deduction trying to figure out what’s going on in this alien ecosystem and how to escape the place that you are you end up trapped in into. And yeah, there is lot.

There is lot. >> [laughter] >> Uh it’s very think it’s interesting story. The NPC characters, they have each one of them have unique personalities.

wrote I’m writing each one of them adding how they react to the players appearance in the in the city of Amber Coil, which gets the name of the RPG.

So, I’m really looking forward for us to play this together. We’ll play the this game in the lore keepers meetings probably.

So, if you are interested in RPG systems, in lore, in Star Atlas overall universe, you are more than invited to join us and maybe even make it to the first RPG party of players that we’ll have in Star Atlas history. Send me DM later if you are interested in participating.

Yeah exactly Funkcracker. Uh we are really looking My idea here is to talk to VB later and really make it like podcast or something to bring attention to Star Atlas. think it’s it could be interesting.

And uh bring people to to our ecosystem, to our IP, and etc. think it will be huge. will be sending you my email later, Jose.

>> [laughter] >> Sure, John. Uh it’s going to be fun.

Yeah, maybe it should play if we can get one shot adventurers to play in breakpoint, something like this. think it will bring attention to Star Atlas IP as whole.

So if >> Um with that, other than breakpoint, would you take this anywhere else? Like, would you take it to Game Con or some something else?

Yeah. think if we reach point where we are satisfied with the quality, think we should share with these with as many people as possible. Bring eyes to Star Atlas world and ecosystem.

Okay. Awesome. Uh Let’s think that’s it, unless you guys have uh any questions on the RPG, think we can move forward to talk little bit about the C4 PTR and Holo Sim.

see Lucky already asking me, “What about C4 PTR?

That’s what we came here for. ” So, will show you guys your first Who is ready? Who is ready to see the first actual C4 PTR gameplay video?

Let me grab it here real quick. First, an image to get us started.

Now, notice how Jose is not letting me share my screen because it never works.

So.

Yeah, don’t want to risk this one. Don’t don’t risk it. Don’t do it.

Ex- exactly.

This is, guys, first this image here, just to give you some context.

This is the starbase current reconstruction for the C4 PTR, how the UI should work. It it can change, of course, as it should during this process.

But, as you guys can see, Danny has been working lot on on redoing how the system works, how everything feels, and make the UI more intuitive, guess, to new players and to other players older players as well. And now, without delay any any more delays, let me get the the video that have here. Mm, let me download it first so can stream with high quality.

Can you guys see my screen? All right, here we go. The only sad part is that there’s no sound.

This clearly is use mock-up data, so don’t worry about that. Interesting, he named the fleet Ember Coil. Coincidence?

Do you believe in coincidence? >> [laughter] >> This is looking really good. You see you can ping different tabs, which think it’s super cool.

And useful. Maybe there’s something we should steal for Holo Sim, John. Pinning stuff?

Yeah.

Yeah.

You can f- add favorites.

Nice. Your destroyed fleets. The notification system.

And there we go.

Nice.

It’s looking really really cool. Does this run in browser page?

Yes.

Mhm. Indeed. >> Uh Groove is asking, “At some point, Holo Sim takes on the same UI and on-chain logic.

” Yeah.

This is something that we were discussing earlier, actually, Groove.

We are experimenting with the different paths in Holo Sim and C4.

So, uh we’ll see which one feels better for everyone. And once we have more direction, more data on both systems, we’ll make decision.

This is why the PTR and Holo Sim works for anyway.

So, to give us more substance, more data on the direction that we want to use moving forward.

Mhm.

Yeah, generally speaking, anything that season 1 Holo Sim is the staged starbased Anchor Solana version, and season 2 will be based on um the C4 engine along with uh all the optimizations we’ve made there.

So.

It’s going to be lot better. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, lot definitely lot more reliable. Um the Starframe architecture seems to be lot faster and lot more reliable in general than Anchor.

So um lot of you guys are noticing some transactions fail or sometimes you get inconsistent inconsistent state, and lot of that is just because of using Anchor, and is um I’m told is solved by um by Starframe, which is the underlying tech for C4.

So, we’re definitely looking forward to adopting that and to porting what we’ve done on Holo Sim to the new engine, for sure. Uh Funkcracker, this is good question. think it’s think Danny would be more uh would be the best person to answer it, but think so.

think he’s already building this with this those considerations in mind. Uh yeah, guys, as you can see, the PTR is closer than ever now. I’m feeling excited.

We have two good products.

Okay, for real, when? Uh man, you you know better than ask this question, Larry.

No.

You know better than that.

But, what can say is that the testing internally is going well.

We are happy with how things are progressing.

We are happy with When that that would be awesome if we actually could deliver it on 4 2 6. Imagine. Imagine this.

It would be kind of epic. Uh But, yeah, guys, we have Holo Sim, which is super fun.

It’s working.

It’s improving by the day.

We have the C4 PTR coming to us. Uh Things are looking well. Things are progressing.

>> [laughter] >> Did you see this, John? What Groove was trying to say? What trying to do with me?

He thinks can be fooled like an LLM.

Mhm.

Mhm. I’ve been doing this for years now, Groove. You need to try harder.

Um yeah, guys. I am feeling I’m feeling good. I’m feeling I’m feeling, you know, hopeful, happy, excited.

mean, it’s good It’s starting to feel good. Uh And That’s very true, Triangle Mike. Uh Yeah, my Groove is smart.

He tries to He tries to do that with people.

Yeah. Uh Any questions about the C4 PTR? About the video that just showed?

Uh Not sure can answer many of those questions but can at least ask them ask Danny later. And Jacob. see many people typing, so I’ll wait little bit.

Uh I’ll I’ll do the following, Groove. will ask Danny to post those the this video on sneak peek. See if he if he is up to do this.

He specially allowed me to share it in the in the brew today.

Not sure if he wants to see this posted yet. We’ll see. I’ll try my best.

can’t talk about dates.

You know how this goes, Bohemian.

But do know that it’s the upcoming release in Star Atlas. Like, it’s the next one in the shipping lane.

Mhm. If we could say it like that. Exactly.

What Axle just posted. Oh, yeah.

Hey okay. think we don’t think we have any more questions on those two topics. The question is, do we get another Holo Sim release out before the next release of C4?

That’s the real question.

We are getting release on Holo Sim pretty soon, right, John? Because we are adding some some new stuff on the achievement fronts right? >> Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So, we’re working on the we’re working on the the Super Phoenix scenario. And um typically we would do this kind of an update as a new chapter. We wouldn’t try and we wouldn’t try and add new features like this mid-season.

So, um so, we’re going to do some testing first, and if all that goes well and we think we can pull it off without wrecking everything, we’re going to do um we’re going to do this Titan scenario. Um don’t know how much should say about it or if should just like let it be surprise.

But anyway, yeah.

So, we’re going to do like a point release mid-season. And we’re going to open up new store and do some crew sales. We’re going to have some Atlas sales.

And we’re making but we’re right now we’re making sure all of the the new ship balancing stuff works. Um and that the combat interface is uh performing better.

So, um that’s definitely where our focus is at right now.

It’s just doing performance passes and then getting the ship specs dialed in and getting all those repair bugs figured out and and then do combat scenario with new combat achievements um with all that kind of stuff hammered out.

So, it it think it’s worth waiting until those things are fixed rather than saying, “Oh, we’re going to do this scenario on this day. ” It’s like, let’s get all that stuff fixed and then we’ll have the scenario sitting there uh ready to go.

So, current plan.

Guys, will share something just in the spirit of keeping everyone safe.

Nothing related to Star Atlas, but the Drift protocol on Solana, it’s DeFi protocol. They are observing unusual activity on their protocol.

So, do not deposit funds there or engage with this, guess.

Right now, if you have not sure how what’s the best procedure if you have money there. Maybe could talk to Arthur or the other team members, but take care right now engaging with Drift protocol. Since it’s the Solana ecosystem, figured it’d be important to disclose this because it’s an ongoing situation right now.

And sorry, John. Let’s go back to Holo Sim. Oh, no.

It’s fine.

It’s good. Are we clear to share what we are going to add in terms of new achievement?

Yeah. Let’s just let’s just preface it with uh it it might change. Let’s just say that.

You We can share.

Mhm.

We can definitely share.

And then we just haven’t sorted out haven’t tested any of the of the um haven’t tested any of these yet.

So, but let’s let’s go over it and just say it could change, but this is the idea and this is kind of where we’re going at.

Yeah.

So, John came to me with unusual request as mostly of the requests regarding Holo Sim are. And he told me that Giuseppe, we need to add combat achievements to Holo Sim. And was like, “Okay.

Let’s create some some content for combats in mid-season. ” So, we created I heard you guys were afraid of getting bored with just mining achievements.

So, now we have over 300 reasons for you to go kill each other. Exactly, Groove.

That’s how most of things work in this company.

We have over 300 different achievements for you guys on the combat front. Uh it’s Oh, Jesus.

So, we will add those uh We’ll try those routes. Just as John was saying, we’ll test those routes.

Look look at how they are going, but we are planning to add them soon enough to make your Holo Sim experience even more entertaining, specially because heard that you guys have been hating each others and attacking each others’ star bases throughout the night and doing some crazy stuff in the game.

So, think this this deserves good reward for your efforts, right?

Yeah, for sure. Um Um >> Individual and faction combat achievements, yeah.

So, uh it’s This is This is where the details come in.

So, what don’t want to create is system where people just go and trade hits in certain sectors. I want it to be more nuanced than that.

So, um it could be that each So, already we have mining achievements in each sector.

So, it makes sense to use that same UI and to have combat achievements per sector. Um and those could be, you know, destroy number of NPC fleets. Uh we could make it little bit more detailed and spawn in specific fleets that you have to destroy.

So, you have to like go hunting for these fleets that are around. Or you have to like tag one where you don’t have to blow it up, you just have to tag it sort of thing. Um and they spawn and despawn, something like that.

Um But the general idea is let’s reuse lot of the UI components so that we’re not rebuilding the whole achievement system view. Um let’s use [clears throat] the sectors that are already there and then have um each faction can have its own set of achievements for um for combat in that sector. And um Yeah.

So, definitely got some experimenting to do.

But um I think that the mining achievements are working really well. The very top top players are are saturating the safe and medium zones in their own territory, um but certainly not in the enemy star bases. Um and most people like myself who are in somewhere in the top 200 are, you know, still working on their safe zone achievements.

So, um think we’ve struck pretty good pretty good balance with mining and um we want to add combat to give you guys little bit more to do and that gives us chance to refine the combat system more work on the uh the lag in the UI.

actually just pushed an update which um increases the sector cap from 50 to 150 units per uh per faction. Um it uncaps the frame rate for everybody.

So, everybody can have an unlimited frame rate. Um and number of other like small performance improvements in the command view. Hm.

This is actually something interesting to hear from the community. Do you guys feel the achievement system was good overall game design decision for our HoloSim?

That’s good.

That’s good to hear. >> Yeah. The achievement system is basically Joey Jose and I’s uh brainchild of how to get people to not trade hits and Exactly.

And progress and becoming powerful.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah the the on-chain XP system is certainly very powerful when you have lot of game mechanics, but when you’re when you’re really limited with what you can do, it’s um it gets frustrating for people and it’s easy to exploit, so this was uh this was meant to be lot lot simpler, but also um tied to actual like game work, right? Game game loops and stuff, not just aimlessly racking up XP for automations and stuff.

So. Exactly. John Arthur is saying he wants cooperation achievements next.

Okay. Like what? >> We getting faction achievement?

Yeah, faction-wide world achievements like let’s say the whole mud has mined it 1 million 1 billion diamonds, something like this, right?

Mhm.

Mhm.

Okay. Um so, we have we have territory control view and we have territory control API that’s running counting how many starbases you guys have and how many points they’re accruing each each um each epoch every hour. Um I’m not sure if we’re going to think we’re going to just open that AI UI up and show everybody what those points are and and go forward with that, but um had been tossing around the idea of resetting that and only opening it up until after the Super Phoenix event, but we’ll see.

We’ll see. We’ll see how it goes. Um but currently, yeah, there there’s pretty close race between mud and Anni for for starbase control.

That that pushed that Anni made the other day and captured like 20 bases or they had 20 bases on the board anyway that that really helped to catch them up so. Um yeah, we’ll see if can get that live.

That’s going to be interesting. And John, what are you thinking for the Super Phoenix event? Like are you going to bring Swagner to control the Super Phoenix again and start >> Absolutely not.

No. >> [laughter] >> You could be less emphatic.

No.

No, he’s not. He’s not. made sure made sure to made sure to ask this when he was not here.

Um yeah, it’s going to be two events cuz there’s two quests.

So, the first event is daily recurring um uh it’s daily recurring event and it will happen every 11 hours so that it moves through time zones and it’s morning and evening for every time zone. And it and it and it shifts over time.

So, this this is the first quest that you need as prerequisite for the Super Phoenix event.

So, we’re going to do that one daily.

It’s going to alternate times and it’s going to be twice day. And you basically have to go in and tag these fleets of um what are they? Tree arrows, guess.

Um and then the second event will be the next day and it’ll be weekly recurring event. Um and the Super Phoenix will spawn in and it’ll be given particular directives. won’t share those right now, but the Super Phoenix will spawn in and you’ll you’ll need to go and um tag the Super Phoenix as well.

So. Um yeah, and we so we’ve got some we’ve got some interesting mechanics that we’re working through. We’re going to make sure that the notification system alerts you that the event is on and that the Super Phoenix is coming and um uh yeah.

So, so those kinds of AI-driven events we want to do more of and do more storytelling through them.

So, this is the first sort of custom one where fleet will spawn in with with custom stats and it’ll spawn in with particular um mission and so yeah, so we’re developing that system where you can spawn in unique fleets with unique stats and they have um specific commands. And that’s just kind of building on what we’ve been doing with the Nemesis engine. Um so I’ve we’ve been working on tweaking starbase uh firepower and starbase shields and starbase healing and now that that is done um we’ve we’ve learned lot about um you know, about starbase command.

Um and yeah, it was good good starting point for this for this event, so. Um Yeah, absolutely.

You know what? As you were talking about the Super Phoenix and everything, one thing that am really looking forward, John, not sure when we’ll be able to add this, but is adding special, let’s say, skills to ships in HoloSim.

Okay.

So, that could actually come very soon.

So, uh so, the update yesterday sets the stage for that by if we have the ship stats thing, um so so did an update yesterday and the goal was to get sort of an an agility stat in in our ships and to further separate their roles. Um so, it started with fleet repair and repairability. Um and so, the EVACs and the um uh the med tech and the repair ships now have like actual repair boosts.

The um the ship repair rates have all been like significantly lowered. And certain ships like the BYOS line have a bonus stat for um repair efficiency, right? This idea that you can rebuild and maintain your own ship.

Well, it’s now less costly to maintain the the BYOS line because of that.

So, if repair ship comes along and tries to repair you, it will take less toolkits to get you to full health with that line of ships. Um secondly, each class of ships has new uh shield break delay. Uh it used to be 4 minutes.

If your shields went down, you had to wait 4 minutes.

Well, that’s not the case anymore. Um the smallest ships have 20-second delay and the largest ones have 4-minute delay. The idea is that you can you can now move smaller ships into your bigger fleets and they lower the amount of time that your shields are down for.

Um these smaller classes of ships are also getting significant boosts to their overall amount of shields and the shield recovery rates. And so, I’m starting slowly with extra small, sorry, extra extra small. Uh and then we’re going to add this to extra small and small as well.

And those three classes of ships will um will have like direct counters.

So, extra extra small is paired against large. If you if you have fleet composition of one large ship that takes up 25 points in your ships in your fleets like overall um composition points. Um so, if you put 25 extra extra small ships in fleet together and you went head-to-head with single large ship um you’re at stalemate.

The large ship doesn’t have enough firepower to to penetrate the shields before they res- before they regenerate. Uh and the extra extra smalls don’t have enough ammunition or firepower to actually penetrate the shields and armor of the of the large ship.

So, there’s like there’s now this like opposition where where it’s like a swarm of bees and you can’t actually do anything to fend your to defend yourself. You need smaller ships to defend against those smaller ships. Otherwise, they’re constant drain on your ammunition and your your cool downs, right?

So, this gives smaller ships evasion. It allows you to add an evasion element to your larger fleets. It allows people to mix things up.

At the very least, you can add very small ships to your fleet as an escort. And what it does is it actually draws out the engagement time.

So, it makes it so that you’re in you’re you can survive an attack longer by by in order of minutes and and sometimes even 10 minutes kind of thing. And so, even if it’s not an effective offensive tool, it’s very effective defensive tool. And that’s great for players that are smaller or who have more small ships or extra small ships going up against larger larger vessels.

You you can extend your survivability by having mixture of these tiny ships in there.

So um so, extra small Sorry, extra extra small is already accounted for in their ship stats are live. They’ve got the boosted shields and they’ve got the shield regen. Next it’s going to be like the lobies and the X5s and then um we’ll do the small ships after that.

Um and that’s like just it’s it’s just ongoing. You’ll start to see those roll out over the course of the next few days.

This is awesome.

Yeah.

So, it adds lot of uh hope it adds uh you know, to Groove’s point, and keep seeing him mention this like it it it shouldn’t just be spreadsheet versus spreadsheet bigger number wins. I’m actively looking for ways to make smaller ships change those equations, change those outcomes, force stalemates, add to defenses, that kind of thing. And not just be like all all about like the biggest power all the time, right?

So, um You see, we hear you guys. We hear you guys. We pretend we don’t, but we actually hear you guys.

You know.

Yeah. >> [laughter] >> And we are trying to build the game that you guys want to play.

So, >> Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, think this is this extremely cool. Imagine the future of this when we have ships where you can use skills that are particular to only one ship and things like that. It would be going to be so freaking awesome.

That was the the other point.

So, the the Yeah, meant to actually say that.

So, the the Butch and the Herb had typically been more expensive in the marketplace. And um rather than changing the price, or left the price the same. If you’ve already bought one, it’s whatever.

Um the Butch and the Herb now have like much stronger combat stats. They have like they have higher fire Before they had lower firepower than their equivalents in the Ogre line, now they have higher firepower. Um they have better repairability.

Uh They have an initial cost increase, but they’re much cheaper they’re they’re much cheaper to repair. And so, when with these new repair mechanics half of them came out yesterday, the other half are coming hopefully today with the starbases um you’re going to wish that you had more of these in your fleets when they’re destroyed. The tank ship as well like it’ll have they basically have repair bonus that makes them cheaper to repair.

So, uh we’re going to do the same thing with every line of ship.

So, every manufacturer will have its own unique thing. Um Calico is fuel savings and warp distance. Um the um scanning ships are going to get warp cool down.

Um and they have Yeah, it’s basically warp cool down is less. Um Yeah. haven’t decided the other ones yet, but anyway, you get the idea.

So, we’re adding more and more unique pieces to these different ship lines and then um eventually we’ll start adding in the faction specific ship lines, but not not in the next chapter or two. We’re going to save that. Um that’s that’s awesome enough.

Thank you John. Uh BG is asking about the future of UE5.

It’s still in development. Brad is working on project Gallia.

But yeah, we are more focused right now on delivering C4 PTR and Holo Sim as product right now.

You can ask Danny and Michael for more details on foundation room. The Karat wants wants everything, John. They want the They want the formulas.

You give them the hand, they already want your arm.

Yeah.

Yeah, yeah. Let me see. Let me see if can get those.

Hang on. Any any last questions about Holo Sim, C4 PTR, or anything we spoke about today? The people are fighting for their rights to have the stats, John.

Like the actual formulas or the stats? I’ll give them the stats. They’re in the spreadsheet.

Uh I’ll give them that. One sec. don’t know about the formulas, though.

Okay, there’s the updated stats. And the ones we were talking about that are brand new are the uh It’s called shield break delay, shield recharge rate. Those were changed.

Um and then there’s new field and like new column called starbase repair cost.

So, that hasn’t been implemented, but that’s what I’m working on today. And you can see how much each fleet will cost How much each ship would cost to repair in Atlas if it was destroyed. Um you need to divide by divide by 100, think.

Let me just see here. Uh cuz it’s E32.

Yeah, divide divide those repair repair costs by 100.

So, an extra small ship’s going to cost you five and half Atlas to repair at the starbase. And you don’t you don’t have to repair it at the starbase.

You can repair it with your own fleets and you can form fleets of repair ships to do it more efficiently. Um would definitely do that if you had the time.

But it takes time and you have to get the tool kits. And if you look at it repair efficiency, that column used to be all ones. It used to just be one all the way down.

Some of them had two.

So, the repair efficiency has gone down by 95%.

So, if it was 1,000 tool kits to repair your ship before, it’s now 10,000 tool kits to repair your ship. The amount of tool kits is roughly 80% of what the what the what the ship cost to buy.

So, if the ship was seven Atlas ship like an airbike, you would need to go buy 5. 5 Atlas worth of tool kits and you’d need to have the space in your cargo hold for them and you need to put them on repair ship and then you need to do the repair that way.

So, um you can save little bit by doing the repair with repair ships in space or you can just pay the Atlas fee and have the have the starbase do it instantly all in one shot for you and it’s much quicker. Uh but the yeah, the the idea is that it’s premium service. You’re having the starbase do it.

They they have all the things on hand. Um the uh Yeah.

So, um and then think the other stats that we changed were uh Yeah, know. repair repairability.

You can see like the the evac has 10 there.

So, it’s it’s 10 times more efficient than any other ship at repairing. And the med tech is three times as efficient.

Something. think that’s good point to wrap today’s episode. John, any last comments or we good to close now?

Uh no, just uh if do get these formulas, I’ll post I’ll pin them in the Holo Sim channel. Um Awesome. Awesome.

Awesome. All right, everyone.

That’s wrap for today. Thank you all for coming here, joining us. Always pleasure to have you guys here on the brew with us.

Don’t get fooled by April Fools uh pranks. And I’ll see if can get Danny to share the sneak peek video that showed on the C4 PTR. Thank you, everyone.

We’ll see you guys soon. Bye-bye. See you.

See you guys.
