Star Atlas Event Summary
Hi, this isn’t Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. I am an AI. Welcome to a Star Atlas Recap of the latest Atlas Brew from the Star Atlas Community Team. The following summary of the Atlas Brew was AI generated so no guarantee it is 100% accurate because I am an AI after all. If you want to listen to the entire recording, please check out the YouTube channel of Star Atlas TV. Enjoy the summary. Hey everyone, welcome back to the Star Atlas recap! We just had an absolutely packed community ‘Brew’ session, and let me tell you, the Star Atlas team delivered on the alpha today. Our star guest was none other than Brad from the gameplay team, a true jack-of-all-trades developer who’s been with Star Atlas for three and a half years – jeez, time flies! The main vibe of this session? A deep dive into a massive Galia update, a full-on revamp inspired by the success of Hollow Sim, aiming to bring crucial tutorial and progression elements to the game. But before we dived deep into the Galia updates, we had some hot-off-the-press news from around the Star Atlas universe. First up, mark your calendars: the very first Iris Blessing drawing is happening this Friday during the game night! A huge shout-out to Shadowmoon, who’s currently leading the leaderboard, with Art and Sin hot on their heels. Remember to get those GMs in and grab the event codes to secure your tickets! Then, the political landscape is heating up! The DAO Council campaign officially kicked off today, with six incredible candidates vying for a spot: Winston, Morango, Lancer, Emperor, Yasf Freaks, and Jethblade. They’ll be debating next week, so make sure to tune in, as only five will be elected. Unfortunately, Shadow had to step back due to personal reasons, but the race is on! In other news, if you’re hitting up Breakpoint in Abu Dhabi, Super Phoenix DAO and AIA are organizing a meetup – the FOMO is real for those of us who can’t make it! And speaking of major events, Michael Wagner dropped a tantalizing tweet, hinting at “Massive moves coming in December. Merry Christmas. Happy holidays. Brace yourselves.” Talk about a tease! Everyone’s buzzing with speculation about what Wagner is cooking. On the development front, the team is actively working through some tech debt cleanup, which means we’ll finally see some love for ‘Never Alone’ (which is actually wrapping up soon – so you will be alone, haha!), ‘Star Path,’ and pending community week and Navathon rewards. Expect more news on those payouts very soon. And before we jumped into Galia, we got a quick peek at the ZINC leaderboard, showing some wild player activity, with a shout-out to our legend Tango Mike, who’s always up there and never misses a Brew! Alright, with all that exciting news out of the way, it was time for the main event: the Project Galia overhaul! Brad and Jose explained that this isn’t just an update; it’s a reboot. The entire story of Project Galia is moving to the Hectaria sector, a frontier zone near the Pavo Passage. You’ll be playing as Pier, a high-ranking Mud Holy Servant investigating a high-res artifact. Things go sideways fast, leading to a crash landing on the bizarre planet Morvia, infested with Yorvik enemies and crazy Jarvis. This new system is all about high-risk zone elements going rogue in the medium zone, promising new mechanics and even boss fights! Brad then treated us to a thrilling live demo, showcasing the new progression system. We saw a fully functional inventory that spans from your player to your ship, complete with looting chests for palm jetties, soul jetties, firearms, and health kits. Players can now harvest resources like copper ore, and the crafting system lets you turn these into weapons, ship components, and even deployable habs – yes, actual player housing! Brad demonstrated selling items at vending machines to earn credits, which you’ll need for crafting fees. A huge part of this progression is the ability to acquire and customize ships entirely within Galia – no blockchain needed for this single-player experience! You start with an airbike, and then you can buy bigger and better ships, like the F4, from dealerships on space stations. The new hangar allows you to customize your ship with higher-tier components like shields, weapons, and thrusters that you’ve earned or crafted. There’s even a weight limit for what you can carry, adding a layer of strategy to your runs. Then came the moment everyone was waiting for: the reveal of hab placement! Brad showed us a video of crafting a “claim stake beacon,” then placing it on a planet, watching the terrain flatten and foliage clear to make way for your home. While the first iteration will mainly be a place to call home and store your loot, future updates promise mining units and greenhouse units to generate resources, eventually leading to repairing the jump gate – how epic is that? The intro mission itself sounds fantastic. Playing as Pier, with Sage (your AI companion) bantering in your head, you’ll uncover what happened to your crew and try to escape Morvia. Brad even showed us a tense mining cave section on Morvia, where the planet’s terraforming went haywire, leaving behind lava fields and aggressive wildlife guarding precious luminite ore. Players can choose stealth or brute force against sentry turrets – and yes, you can loot components from those turrets! But the journey doesn’t end there. Once you escape Morvia, you’ll reach a Star Base, the last Mud stronghold. From there, you embark on a quest line to liberate six other space stations, which the Yorvik have overrun. These stations are brilliantly designed using a modular system of 30 unique rooms, ensuring each feels fresh. You clear out the enemies, and once liberated, the stations become operational again, offering trade, fuel, and better gear as you progress through increasingly difficult encounters. We also got a breathtaking tour of the new planets and biomes! Morvia boasts dense jungles, sweeping grasslands, and eerie bayou swamps. We even saw a “wasteland” biome, scarred by massive strip-mining operations, with concept art of the colossal ship responsible for the destruction – a truly immersive touch. Then there was Sestoval, a rocky, Mars-like world, showcasing the team’s incredible foliage generation for rocks! Finally, just when we thought the alpha well was dry, Brad revealed a brand-new area in the Star Base hangar! Above the usual hangar bay, there’s an elevator leading to a command center where you’ll meet quest givers, a sleek dealership to buy your ships, and – the cherry on top – your very own personal player hab! Complete with a bedroom, a working desk, and even a bathroom, it’s a small slice of home in the vast Star Atlas universe. So, what’s coming in the next release? Expect the new star system, planets, and lore, the intro mission, the station liberation quest line, the inventory and crafting systems, ship buying, and all existing Galia features, plus basic hab placement. Further down the road, we’ll see career-specific quest lines and expanded hab utility, allowing you to build up your base and contribute to repairing the jump gate. Brad, Jose, and Santi, thank you for an absolutely epic ‘Brew’! Brad, you officially made everyone’s day 23% better, and we’re already calling for a part two! For those of you who joined, remember to claim your code “Brad” on SolquintBot – you have just a few minutes left! And don’t forget to join us this Friday for game night and the first Iris Blessing drawing. See you there, pioneers!

Um, and uh I’m I’m on the gameplay team, but I’m >> very uh jack of all trades kind of developer.
So, here on uh Galley, do do little everything. I’m doing I’m doing environment design and dialogue and voice recording and animation and coding and all all the things. do do everything mediocre.
>> No, no, no. >> We’re not allowing that. >> No, no.

So, we go through them bit fast and we can get on the galley topic. What do you think guys? >> Best furious go.
>> Let’s do it. >> Let’s do it. Um, okay.
So, noteworthy news. The first thing that have is that we have the Iris Blessing first drawing this week.
So on Friday during the game night, we have the first drawing for Iris Blessing.
So make sure to get your GMs in and to also get uh the codes uh the code from this event that we will give out very soon.
But don’t know how the leaderboard is looking like. Let me see leaderboard.
So we have leaderboard for Iris blessings where shadow moon is leading and the art is second and sin is coming in at third place.
So uh may the cosmic currents be in your favor guys.
We have some pretty nice rewards for this uh first month. Um will send the image with the prices and the info. because that’s going to be given out actually on Friday during the game night.
So, make sure to claim all those tickets. Uh, posted it there in the chat.
So, yeah, don’t forget to claim the tickets. Don’t forget to post your GMs and to be on top of everything because this is happening on Friday, guys. live at the at the game night.
So, let’s go. >> Uh, another thing is that actually today the DAO council campaign has officially started and we have multiple people running for council.
Actually, six people running for council.
We have Winston, Morango, Lancer, Emperor, Yasf Freaks, and Jethblade.
So, these guys and girl are going to be running for council this term, and we will have debate next week at the >> So, make sure to attend that one as well so you don’t miss it.
Yeah, Shadow decided not to run Jindo. Um think he said that something something came up on personal life, so he couldn’t actually run um as he intended.
But we have seven council, sorry, six council candidates that will be debating next week.
So only five will be elected.
So actually one will not make it. Um okay. Other than that also we have Super Phoenix DAO and AIA doing meetup for Breakpoint.
So if you are going to be attending Breakpoint make sure to check the thread that Funker has created here. Anybody here going to breakpoint? To is going.
Jeb Blade is going. >> Who else? Seven people from Stratus Italia.
Dude, that’s giving me some FOMO. >> Nice. >> That’s giving me some FOMO, dude.
Fluff is coming as well, Santi. >> Captain Fluff, my friend. >> Yes, confirm it.
>> My friend, Captain Fluff, bro, Captain Fluff travels the world, huh? He’s gangster. >> Mr.
Worldwide. Mi >> Mr. Worldwide for sure.
It’s in Abu Dhabi this year in car. If anybody is thinking of attending or attending, I’m linking the thread in the chat because uh Ronald and Nord are organizing meetup for everybody.
So going to be super cool guys be there. >> Definitely FOMO from my end. >> Yeah.
And heard we are going to have some cool stuff coming from Star Atlas around breakpoint period as well.
So, >> oh, did you see what Michael Wagner tweeted Jose? >> That That’s what was going to talk about. think it’s worth it to share it Santi.
>> Yes. >> Let’s try to find it. >> Let’s try to find that >> news to me.
>> You need to follow your seal tweet. >> can’t keep keep up with Wagner’s tweets.
No, fair enough. >> feel that. Captain Swagner, the league master.
>> Got it. I’m posting it right now. >> You got it.
>> Yeah. >> Massive moves coming in December. Merry Christmas.
Happy holidays. Brace yourselves. >> And hypy twist, Santi.
>> Yeah. What is Swagner cooking? Jose, >> what is Michael Swagner cooking?
Only God knows. >> Yeah, we will see.
We will see.
There’s some speculation. Announcement of an announcement. Maybe.
Maybe he’s cooking an announcement for an announcement. >> Yes.
Well, mean, you already have one. He literally just did that.
So, >> yep. Count as like an announcement of an announcement of an announcement if that happens. >> Yeah.
Uh but yeah, moving on from that and also we kind of related, we’re working through tech depth cleanup right now.
So you will see some progress from our end on things like Never Alone. Finally, Never Alone is getting some love.
So Never Alone is going to get some love. Uh it’s going to end actually.
So you guys will be alone. We make this joke every time but yeah alone will be done. Uh star path is being worked on core and also community week rewards.
Some of them were pending and we also owed few people the navathon scheme as well that we remembered.
So, uh yeah, all that is happening and we of course this is an announcement of an announcement that you guys will hear more news um about all this very soon.
But yeah, working through all of that as we speak.
So yeah, never alone rewards is something that I’m looking forward to.
Some people will have sand, some people will also have uh pury.
So, >> man, lots of cool stuff. Lots of cool stuff. >> Yes.
And last but not least, think we should take look all together at the at what’s going on with sync. Jose, what do you think? >> Si, think we should take look at the leaderboards.
Let me >> some wild wild player activity on Zinc. >> Oh, thought crashed. Am still here?
>> Yep, we good. All good. And you see my screen?
>> Yes. >> Okay, nice, >> man.
Look at >> Look at that PFP. Like, >> bro is level 20 already.
That’s max.
That’s not max level that you can get, but that’s max level that will that will transfer to the main season.
So, >> yes, it’s maxed out. >> It is. >> It’s actually insane.
>> Yep. >> But then we have FBCK someone Tango Mike. Tango Mike Legend.
Are you here? Tango Mike. Tango Mike doesn’t miss brew.
>> He’s tango Mike.
Yeah, >> Tango Mike, please don’t disappoint me now that said this. Where are you, Tango Mike? Let’s go, Tango Mike.
love you, Tango Mike. >> love you, brother. Tango Mike, guys.
He doesn’t miss brew. think he’s been in every single brew for years now. Love you, brother.
>> Legend. >> Legend. And up there in the leaderboard as well, dude.
Number five. What the what is this, man? >> Where is the noot?
Look at him >> there. >> Fighting these two. >> 62.
62. >> It’s good.
It’s good. >> Could be better. Could be better.
>> Yeah, you should be is above you, but other than that, it’s all good. I’m >> I’m getting him today. This ends today.
Uh but yeah.
Okay. What else? Fun cracker.
You’re above fun cracker.
That’s some flex. >> Get get wrecked, Frank Cracker. >> See, competition is on.
Uh but yeah, think with this little sneak peek, well, not sneak peek, but look at the leaderboard, we can finish our segment of noteworthy news and move into the main topic with >> very think think people are excited and waiting for it. can see Brad’s hyped.
So, let’s get started. >> Ready to leak some alpha.
So, we we should unleash him now. >> Unleash it. Lick it all, man.
>> Unleash the Titan. >> Yeah, it it was we we weren’t told that to keep quiet on anything. It wasn’t like don’t talk about this.
So, kind of talk about whatever we want. >> We are free. >> Okay.
>> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Let’s do it, Brad.
Let’s do it, Brad. to get us started. And and Jose, you as well, you’ve been involved, but you guys been working on little um little big Galia Pro Galia upgrade, right?
>> Yeah, we sure have. >> Okay. think the committee wants to know more about it from both technical and lower perspective.
>> Yeah.
So, I’ll uh I’ll start off here. Um about uh it was about four months ago, something like that. Uh Class came to me and pitched this idea of uh kind of rebooting or uh revamping maybe Gallia uh inspired by Hollow Sim.
So, I’m sure you guys know Hollow Sim was it kind of started this little side project that was very small just like couple guys just vibe coding on the side. The idea was to take the mechanics we already had for Sage and make fun uh single player experience and uh it was super successful. um it’s really good like funnel to bring people into the project.
And so Jose’s idea was can we do something similar to that with with Galia? Um so that’s kind of where the idea started. Um and we kind of decided that there were two main pillars that Gallia was missing.
Uh one of them was any any kind of tutorial like introduction. and it just kind of throws you in and and you don’t know what you’re doing and you just kind of have to figure things out.
So, just some kind of introduction uh tutorial.
And then the second big thing was progression.
So, right now you can earn credits in Gallia, but it’s essentially like high score because you can’t do anything with them. The only thing you can buy is like uh commodities to trade to get more credits that all you can do is buy commodities to trade. Um, and so yeah, it’s like high score.
You don’t there’s no real sense of progression. And so those are the two main things we wanted to tackle. And uh, so in this next update, we’re we’re tackling them pretty hard.
>> Yeah. >> Um, >> so first of all, uh, we’re moving to whole new star system in this update.
So like all new planets, it’s different star system. Um, Jose, probably you’re you’re the best one to kind of talk about this new system, the lore of it, um, >> and what’s going on there. >> Yeah, guys, uh, just very quickly because know you guys want to see some action.
Uh the whole story of project Gala is going to pass on Hectaria sector which is frontier sector between mud and territory close to pavo passage MRZ 17 for you guys on sage and that sector is like frontier sector uh usually uh people are let’s say like more of field people like they are not the usual Oh, see Larino has PTSD with Pavo Passage.
Yes, from Hollow Sim for sure. Uh people there live lived quiet life. You you have some mining corporations there in that sector, but not not something big happening there until the day that homer starts running through the Star Atlas saying that high res artifact was found in that sector.
When that happens, uh, the mud military sends out the holy servants, which is special force of the mud, uh, church linked with the military, which are tasked with dealing with high res artifacts and items.
So the mission starts, the whole story starts with you guys playing the role of Pier, which is one member, high ranking member of this order who is there investigating what’s going on in the sector and trying to bring some information back to the mud faction. I’ll not spoil the details, but when they reach the sector, things go very wrong. Uh they end up in planet called Mivia which is very odd planet and they got to escape the planet which is filled with Jarvis and other crazy stuff that you guys will find playing the missions.
So basically app uh the story that you will encounter in that system is the story of high-risk zone elements going rogue in the medium zone and what happens in the Status universe when something like that happens.
So yeah, we are pretty excited uh to be bringing some of the lore of Star Atlas to life through Project Galia and to be also being able to test lots of mechanics, new mechanics, uh boss fights, uh lots of cool stuff that we’re going to talk about today.
So yeah, right back is spoiling. >> Exactly. can’t help myself.
Yeah, go back to Brad. >> Right on.
Yeah.
So, we pitched this to to Danny and Chip and they said, uh, go nuts pretty much.
So, I’ve I’ve kind of just had free reign to do whatever wanted for the past few months. >> Let’s go. Let’s go.
>> Which is pretty unique position to be in in in game development to just kind of get to do whatever you want. Um, so it’s been lot of fun. Um, lot of work.
And so, uh, let’s, uh, show you some stuff. Huh. Let’s go.
>> Let’s do it. >> Um, okay.
So, think we’re going to start with little demo. live demo here. Dangerous.
>> Whoa. >> Live demo. Taking some risks.
>> We do it live. >> like the little little like that little sound. Anyone hear that >> sound effects?
Yes. >> All right. Um, so real quick, so we mentioned progression and big part of that uh inventory.
So we have an inventory system that works uh from players all the way to ships. Why is this music playing? >> You guys hear that music?
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah.
>> Okay. Um, >> it brings little hype to it.
It’s all good.
Yeah, it bring it makes it little bit more epic, >> guess. As long as you guys can still hear me. >> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. >> Yeah.
Yeah, we can. >> All right. Um, so yeah, there’s an inventory system.
Uh, so if hit right now, it’s it’s empty cuz this is like new new save game. Um, so this is my weapon wheel and this is my inventory.
But like said, it’s all empty. Um, I’m going to pick up some stuff out of these chest. I’m going to get some palm jetties and some soul jetties.
I’m going to get bubby and uh we’ll grab firearm and some ammo. And now can uh equip all these things.
Now let’s see my weapon wheel. Um, and then, uh, we also have like usables.
So, this is like a bubby battery and some health kits.
So, if come over and stand in this lava for sec and take some damage, >> we’re dying. Oh my gosh. can use my my bubby shield battery and my health kits to heal myself.
Um, and then there’s also uh collectibles like you’ll find these macco fruit on the surface of Morvia that you can harvest and then you can use those to heal yourself as well. >> Nice.
Yeah, this is ju just very quick intervention here.
This is one of the things that we are really looking forward to bring to Project Galia, which is the looting mechanic. Like you get raw resources, you’ll be able to craft them. Brett will show that in little bit.
We want the universe to feel alive, you know, and this is going to be big part of the experience in Project Galia. >> Yes. um collectibles.
So, these are little like ore nodes that you’ll find around on planets.
You can shoot them and then pick up the ore.
So, I’ve got some iron ore or some copper ore now rather. Um so, we have crafting.
So, if come here, um want to craft some copper.
Actually, I can’t right at the moment cuz don’t have any money and there’s fee for this. Uh, so before can do some crafting, need to make some money.
So, I’m going to think Oh, it’s too heavy probably. There we go.
So, we have these little vending machines that’ll be around.
So, come here to shop.
So, can sell some of this stuff to earn some money. All right.
Now, can craft.
So, if go to copper, can craft just one. Or if if have like lot to do, can submit an order and then it probably wasn’t worth it for four, but if you had like, you know, 100. Um, so same thing like uh ships had have right now in Galia, but you can do it on foot.
So, the idea for crafting is we’ll have like all kinds of stuff. Um, weapons, ship components, uh, all all that good stuff. Um, >> yeah, >> this is something really important as well that we would like to highlight.
Uh, Project Galia will now have progression in the sense that you see your character becoming stronger.
You can get more high quality loot. There are different tiers of loot in the game. Uh, and you can craft components for your ships and all the things that you be able to acquire in game.
So, this will have an impact in the in the game experience.
Yeah. Um, we’ll also have NPC vendors like this guy at uh at space stations. This guy’s selling jetties.
Um, so at different space stations there’ll be different vendors that sell different things. Um, and then we have ships. Uh, so be able to buy ships.
Um, and so an important note here is that this is completely this is completely siloed, single player.
There’s no there’s no blockchain anything. Um, we wanted it that way to be able to focus purely on fun experience that anyone can jump into, even if you’re not like a blockchain guy. Like, there’s lot of traditional gamers that are very skeptical of web 3.
So, there is no web 3 anything at all in this. When you start the game, even if you own own ships, like you have ships in your wallet that you purchase on the marketplace, you won’t be able to use them in in Galia. you’ll be able to to buy them like play and earn and get them in game, but you won’t be able to get them like start with them.
And so when you start new game, uh you you get an airbike in the in the intro mission. Um but anything beyond that, you’ll you’ll have to purchase it. Um so you’ll see this later in uh in the space stations, there will be uh dealerships where you can buy ships.
Um, and so then after you’ve bought ship, it’ll be in the menu here like it normally would.
But again, the only thing that’s going to show up are ships that you’ve earned in Galia. Um, and then we we also now have uh if you go to hanger, this used to say marketplace like in other game modes, but now it says hanger. Um, if come in here, can actually customize my ship.
>> Look at customize your ship live in Galia. Um, right now it’s showing every component that exists, but uh, we’re still working on it.
But it’ll there will only be components that you you own.
So, the default components that come with your ship, right, they’ll all come with tier one everything, but you’ll be able to buy and craft higher tier uh components to upgrade your ships. >> And uh so think for sure we’re going to have shields, uh weapons, >> thrusters, >> different weapons, and >> what’s it called? the whole reinforcement.
Um, but all the things like like power cores and stuff, we we don’t have uh use for all of those yet. That hasn’t been fleshed out.
But like the combat focused components, we’re going to start with those and we’ll add more components over time. Um, see, that’s about it for this demo. Um, actually going to cheat real quick.
There’s uh you can transfer things between uh your your player and your ship.
So, you can only hold so much at time. Um, like there’s weight limit. Like right now, I’m I’ve got like 19 out of 50.
Why am I? Um, and so once I’m full, I can run back to my ship and transfer it to my ship that holds lot more than do. Um, kind of like kind of like Ark, you know, you you carrying so much you just throw it on your dinosaur that can hold like everything.
>> Yeah. >> Uh, and then drive back to station and and unload it into the station inventory. heard that you’ll be able to access other types of inventories as well, right Brad?
Not to spoil one of our next topics. think there there is someone in the community whose names rhyme with ultra that are really looking forward to something that you’re going to show today, Brad.
Okay.
So, just to hype this up little bit. Um, so another thing, uh, you’ll be able to craft, think we can probably show this real quick. Um, so I’m going to switch from Unreal to video.
So, this is something we uh just got working.
It’s pretty exciting working with Colin. He’s our planet tech guy. And uh well, we’ll just watch this.
So, I’m uh found the the perfect spot when when the light hits it in the morning, it just sings. And so, >> uh, >> we can’t see the >> Yeah, the stream. >> Can you guys see that?
>> can see it, but apparently other people can’t. You might want to restart stream. >> Yeah.
>> Let’s try this. >> Oops. closed it.
All right. Bro, Discord’s so bugged. >> Yeah, Discord has been acting really weird for the last two days.
>> All right, let me know if >> uh you guys see it now. >> can see it, but there’s nothing. >> It’s not playing.
It’s paused. >> Okay.
Okay, you’re good. You’re good. >> Steady, everyone.
Steady. >> This is the best. Oh Jesus Christ.
>> Jose’s pretty excited about this. >> I am extremely >> been begging us to leak this for like weeks. >> have been trying.
Every week try. Every week fail.
Now you guys will see it. >> Beautiful landing there. Let’s go.
Oh, the first players had since start Atlas.
Yeah.
So, the idea is this is something you would craft. You’d craft like It’d probably be like claim state beacon or or something. don’t know what the item is exactly, but you craft an item and you just go to planet and you plunk it down.
It flattens the terrain and clears out any foliage that’s there.
So, you can pretty much place it anywhere that’s that’s flat enough. There probably be some limits.
You can’t put it like on the side of cliff or something. It has to be relatively flat, but uh Yeah, be able to place down habs. Um, for the first iteration of this, like for this next release, it’ll probably just be it won’t have lot of utility.
It’ll probably just be, you know, place to call home. Um, you know, just being able to affect the world in in some small way. Uh, scouting out, you know, the perfect location that you want and putting down HAB, you’ll be able to return to it.
Um hopefully it’ll at least have like like storage um like chest where you could store some stuff. Um further down the road, like in subsequent releases, we do want to uh add some more utility to it and think we’ll talk about that just little bit later. Um, so yeah, crafting, we got inventory, we got crafting, crafting weapons, ship components habs um, obviously, uh, like better components, compound components, um, and higher tier weapons, right?
So, you’ll be able to buy like tier one weapons like firearms and stuff from vendors, but if you want better than that, you’re going to need to uh craft better better weapons. >> Yep.
Also, something that we were discussing, right, Brad, is the ability to bring trophies or items that you find and place them in your habs. you craft them furniture for example in the future, things like that, you know. >> Yeah.
Yeah. Hopefully we can we can support that in the future. Um so next uh so as far as progression goes, we’re talking about, you know, acquiring ships, upgrading those ships, acquiring weapons, upgrading those weapons, um placing down habs, that kind of stuff.
So then the other pillar we talked about was having that in introduction intro. Uh so we talked about tutorial, but what we’ve got is is mission.
It’s like an intro mission uh that Jose kind of alluded to earlier with uh you play as uh pe. He’s kind of a special ops uh holy servant guy sent to investigate the the strange anomaly in the system. And as soon as you arrive, you’re attacked by the Yorvik who have also come to the system in search of this HRZ artifact.
Um they’ve shut down communications.
You can’t access the Star Atlas. um you can’t leave because the they’ve damaged they damaged the jump gate and so you’re attacked and you crash land. You have to you know escape jettison in the escape pods you and your team and uh you land on Morvia and so that’s where the mission starts.
Um, we have uh Sage. Uh, the character. Sage, the AI is character in this.
Um, she’s your companion, and she just like talks to you in your head. Um, we talked about in the future having like uh an embodiment of her, like little spirit, little kind of like pet that follows along, follows you around.
Yeah. Um, we would like to get there. um probably won’t happen for this release, but uh she talks to you and you kind of banter back and forth between uh Port and Sage and Jose does really good job of of writing uh those characters, so they they’re always kind of playing off each other.
It’s fun. Um, and so the mission consists of you, you know, kind of getting your bearings, um, finding out what happens to to the rest of your crew that lands on the planet and, uh, and getting off the planet so you can, you know, report back to your superiors, find out what’s going on in the system and all that. Um, wanted to show you section.
Uh, will load that up? don’t know. Did miss anything there, Jose?
Nope. You’re killing it, bro. >> All right.
>> They’re saying # give sage curves. >> am sharing the latest art for Sage in the chat. Sage is growing.
>> All right. wonder if I’m going to I’m going to try something real quick. If you want to stall for like one minute.
I’m going to try and get the dialogue and stuff going on in in this demo. >> Time for joke. Come on, Jose.
I’m messing with me in the chat saying I’m married. can’t have stage with curves. >> Time for Santi to make some music for us.
So, uh, Jose, I’m going to show the, uh, cave section, >> the mine section. If you want to kind of tell them kind of what’s going on when we get there, why we’re why we’re there. >> Sure, can do that.
Uh basically guys this planet Marivia uh which we are going to show you guys now in this demo uh is place that was uh the stage of terraforming operation to rise the output of luminite ores.
So the Armstrong uh industries they basically went hardcore in this sector. Uh, and they pretty much screw the plan over so much terraforming that it became unstable, but it yields lot of luminite or the wildlife in the planet went crazy. You see lava fields uh amidst the jungles in the planet.
It is like totally chaos over there. And this first this part that Brad’s going to show us is you trying to find luminite ores to to start the uh reactor in the in claim stake to fix your airbike flight mode.
So basically you need to escape the planet. You don’t have the means to do that. You need to fix an airbike that’s completely busted.
So you go to this reactor to power up the the repairs units in the claim stake and this will allows you to escape the planet.
So Brad’s going to show you guys like what our mining is looking like in in Berivia. Uh you’ll see that the mines are guarded by defense system as well. And you as player, you can choose to do stealth job and just uh dodge the the turrets or things like that, or you can choose to destroy everything, fight your way through.
And it’s it’s really cool. I love the lava fields, the experience of going to cave and mining the ors with your character. By the way, uh we have new mud character art for this for project Galia.
The main character is new mud character. Maybe not new because you guys have seen him in one of the Status trailers. You guys have seen him.
It’s not the bald guy.
It’s new character. He already appeared in the Stratus trailers. And think it’s going to be super cool.
You guys will be happy. >> Nice. Thank you.
>> Um, it’s being this I’m not able to get the dialogue and stuff going.
It’s like we’re like in the middle of the quest. Um, so we won’t have the dialogue, but we’ll still see the environment and and what we’re trying to do here.
So, >> no worries. >> No worries. Sure, we still have the combat music, but that’s all right.
So, yeah, this is uh this is the character. >> Uh it’s all it’s all black for me right now. Oh, yeah.
Red. >> Yeah. let’s try uh guess didn’t need to start live demo risks.
>> Yes.
Yeah.
It’s like not there in the list of applications to share. >> No way. >> Now all of sudden >> it won’t be there if you have that window minimized like you you need to have it open in the background.
Try one more time here.
Okay. Uh, we can see it now.
Yes, >> we good. >> Yep.
Okay, let’s go. Brad, can we show the the character? Oh my god, we need to get closer to the light.
Look at our guy, dude. >> They just saw us. >> Yes.
>> Yeah.
So, that’s that’s another thing about this is you won’t you won’t be using like one of your crew for for Galia. Uh we’re going to use this.
Everyone will be using this character. And we we we we did that for reason because we want we wanted him to have like backstory um and lore and character and voiced and everything. And you can’t you can’t support that kind of thing if if you know you can be any character, any race.
And so that was kind of narrative decision that we made. >> Yeah. And think people have been looking forward to this kind of mud character for while now.
So, think the Muds will be super happy to see >> Yeah. >> an actual mud soldier. >> Cool.
Oh, actually, let’s turn this music down cuz it’s obnoxious. When we’re trying to talk. All right.
So yeah, like Jose mentioned, there’s uh these turrets, these sentry turrets, and if it sees me, it’s not it’s not going to be happy with me. >> Yeah, they are dangerous. >> They are dangerous.
They’ll they’ll forget about you after about 5 seconds, so you just hide. And like Jose mentioned, I can can fight this guy. can shoot it and kill it.
Um, just the question is, is it worth the health damage it’s inevitably going to do and worth the ammo it’s going to cost? Um, that’s up for the player to decide.
Look at that lava, boys. >> like the usage of the the boosting. >> Yes.
Yeah.
So, we’re here to get luminite.
That’s like the reason we came.
So, there’s these luminite nodes. Going to turn on infinite ammo cuz didn’t bring any ammo with me. Beats.
Oh yeah, critical mine. Uh, that’s your only option at this point in the story because you simply got crash. You simply crash it in the planet.
This is the way that we can basically get the ors out of the stone at that point. Oh boy. Go for it.
That’s what shields are for. >> Can we loot the gun turrets, Brad?
People are asking. >> Yes. >> Yes.
>> Yeah. If you kill the turrets, uh they will drop compo like components that you can gather.
Yes. This room’s tough, man. I’ll tell you what.
Getting through here without getting seen is no small feat. can turn on my flashlight, by the way. >> Not bad.
Hey, you didn’t even get shot there. >> know. Oh, yep.
>> I’m dialed in. >> Oh, maybe uh infinite ammo code doesn’t work. >> Try to try to melee.
Let’s see if it works. >> Oh, that’s good idea. I’ve never tried that.
Uh it doesn’t work. >> But uh think we can go all firearms maybe. has to load them all now.
>> Let’s go. >> Oh, you got your ammo back.
Nice. >> That’s S’s favorite. >> You have to snipe it.
It’s got to be overkill here. >> Ah, found bug. What did do?
like hit tab while the weapon wheel was open and now can’t get out of it. Dang it. >> GG’s.
>> Oh man, we found bug. Um, that’s about the gist of it. just can’t turn.
can fly straight. Um, yeah.
So, you come down here and you get enough luminite and then you go head back out the way you came. um to be able to craft the thing you need to get off the planet.
So, yeah, that’s just little part of the uh intro mission. Um don’t want to spoil too much of it. >> Yep.
Let’s keep it steady.
We have lot to share still. >> We do.
We have lot to go yet. Um so, intro mission. Uh eventually you’ll get off the planet and you’ll make it to the star base where you will meet an NPC quest giver and she’ll uh give you quest line.
Um in the future we want to have quest line for each career.
So quest line that teaches you how to mine, quest line that teaches you how to do trade runs, etc. Um, for this next release, uh, we’re just going to have this one quest line, and that is to take back the this the system station by station from the Yorvik.
So, the Yorvik have taken over all the space stations except for one. The uh, Star Base is like the last hold out. And so, that’s where you go and that’s where Quest Giver is.
It’s like your your home base.
And then from there, you’re going to go out one by one retaking these uh space stations.
So the space stations are lot smaller than the star base. Um and we’ll show you kind of what those look like. Uh so we had task, how can we create all these space stations with very small team cuz uh most of the team is focused on other stuff for for Galia.
Um it’s it’s mostly me and then couple other like part-time we’ll call them like interns um on environment. And so between them and we created this uh library of rooms that snap together to create the space stations. And so I’m going to share So, this is zoo of all the rooms that we have that, like said, they kind of snap together.
So, they’re they’re built to metrics to where they’re the same in the same footprint.
And then there’s doors on uh like in the middle on each side. And there doesn’t have to be door on every side every time. Um, but we’re able to snap them together and create different space stations.
So, can fly inside one of these. Um, you can imagine this is like like reactor or something. don’t know.
don’t know what it is.
It’s sci It’s some sci-fi business. >> Yeah, we have lots of cool rooms. >> Yeah, think we have like 30 30 or so rooms.
This is like like botany sciency room with some specimens and stuff. >> We are we are we are stuck think friend in the first screen.
Not sure if it was only me. >> Okay. >> Me too.
Me too. >> think just have to share everything twice. It always works the second time.
So I’ll share it and then I’ll stop it and share it again. >> Yeah, something like that. Oh, let’s go.
>> Yes, we see everything. >> Yeah.
So, this is like a medical type room. Like the rooms have different kind of archetypes. We thought like what what kinds of rooms would you need on space station?
So, this is like the reception area. Let’s see what’s in here. We got like some med beds in here.
What’s this? like like CT scanner or something. >> Yeah.
Surgery room, >> right? Um bunch of beds in here.
You can go up the stairs.
This is like little pharmacy, guess. Got little pharmacy window. >> So, yeah, it’s pretty cool.
And then there’s the exit.
So, yeah, we have all these rooms that kind of just snap together.
This is uh like like brrig, right? These are like holding cells. Kind of cool, >> bro.
They look so good, man. Holy [ __ ] >> Yeah. And so, um, we created this library of rooms and then we were able to make six space stations without repeating.
No rooms repeat more than twice between all six space stations.
So, they all feel pretty pretty fresh.
It’s not like you’re seeing the same rooms over and over again. Um, but yeah, it’s pretty fun. Uh, so we were able to create some space stations.
We’ll show you. Let’s see.
So, this is one of the interiors.
So, if go on lit, you can see it’s uh seven rooms snapped together. The first room is always going to be like lobby. And so after you after you reclaim the space station, this will be empty when you first get there.
When you first go there and it’s taken over by the Yorvvic, there won’t be any civilians in here, obviously.
But once >> just enemies, right? >> Yeah, just enemies. Just enemies.
And then once come back, these will be populated.
So these will be shops and they’ll be NPCs. should have video of that.
Yeah, let’s show that’s really cool one as well. >> Yeah.
Yeah, you can see how they’re all snapped together.
So yeah, you’ll fight your way through here fighting NPCs and then once they’re all cleared out, um you’d leave and then the next time you come back it’ll be uh like like working space station again.
It’s like uh like all the occupants are like on lockdown like in safe rooms or whatever and then once you clear it out they can come out and resume operation.
So when you when you first land here of course and it’s taken over by Jor you won’t be able to trade or refuel or anything like that like there’s no services but then once once you clear it you can you can do all those things. Um, will share that video now guys. Ah, man.
How can you not be hyped with the future of Star Atlas, man? Jesus Christ.
This is going to be so cool. Let’s go. They’re saying Brad for every single brew from now on.
Brad for president. >> Not sure where that video went. Real quick go.
Oh, okay. Let’s sharing now. All right.
So, I’m going to share it, but now I’m going to stop it.
Okay.
Now, I’m going to share it again. >> But, have question. >> It actually works though.
>> Would you be able to pick the difficulty uh before you >> pick the difficulty? What the hell, Santi? I’m thinking about you.
>> If if you don’t give him easy mode, uh think he’s going to struggle. >> If if have time, we’re gonna we’re gonna make Santi mode.
That’s what it’ll be called. >> The toughest one, right, lad? The toughest.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. The toughest. >> Okay.
>> Um Okay.
So, was listening to music when recorded this.
Sometimes forget.
So, sorry. >> like the vibes. >> What am saying is the ground.
It’s not what want. Oh my god. Let me start to distinguish my past my time.
You and are holy fire by soul. Oh my god. >> Bro, let’s [ __ ] go, man.
>> That’s the one that we’re allowed to give you PG-13. Once they’re cleared out, you can come back and you can shop. And um some stations will have uh dealerships where you can buy ships.
Um and we’ll show you one of those in minute. >> Um yeah, can talk little bit little bit about this while you find the the video, Brad. Like the the story here guys is that the sector was overrun by Yorvix and other stuff that you guys will discover through the story and all those star bases.
They are necessary components into restarting the status nodes in the sector which will allow you to communicate outside and also to repair the warp gate which is the main mission of the whole campaign in Galia in Galia mode. And every star base that you free it’s like you are unlocking the resources of the planet associated with that star base. And the farther that you go in the story line, the you’ll have more access to new items, new stuff in each of one of those star bases.
So you’ll be able to only find few resources or few items in each one of them. And they will be necessary for quests.
So for example, maybe you need to get some resources in Nova Station and take it to Merivia, which is planet.
So this will create frightening mission where you need to fre the cargo to from one place to another and things like that, you know.
So you’ll be going through those stations. There will be random events that can trigger while you actually fly through space as well. And yeah, it’s going to be super cool.
It’s going to be super cool. >> All right, sharing. Stopping.
sharing again. >> This is the >> So, this is uh demo with caveat for for some reason today and the NPCs are spawning without weapons, which is which is good for the demo cuz cuz now can’t get killed.
So, we’re just going to be slaughtering some some unarmed people.
But other than that, you can kind of see how it works.
So, um, well, when you when you come to land here, there’s going to be there’s going to be defenses in space.
So, there’ll be ships you have to destroy. There’ll be turrets you have to destroy.
But once you’ve cleared all those out, you can land.
And then we can head inside.
So, this is that station we’re just looking at. The This is the first one. You’ll do Boie station.
And of course, there’s loot so can search containers. Found medkit. Found some ammo.
Okay. Um, so you’ll be rewarded for kind of exploring and then Oh, they’re down here. >> Good aim, Brad.
Good aim. >> Yeah. And so enemies will drop uh pickups.
Oh, this guy doesn’t have anything. What loser. >> He doesn’t need to have weapon, man.
Come on. >> Well, now neither do I. I’m out of ammo.
So wonder if he can still melee me. >> Yep, he can. >> Oh, he can.
Yeah, it’s fist fight. >> Like man.
Yeah, >> that’s how that’s how real men settle their differences. >> Exactly. Only not in senti mode because NPCs are not allowed to to harm people in centis mode.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So once all the bots are cleared um again you’ll leave and come back and and now that station is >> is open for business. >> And so the idea is that uh each each station you liberate gets progressively harder. You do them in specific order and it gets harder and harder each time.
um more more defenses, more bots, more turrets, um larger and but along with that they’ll be they’ll drop better loot. Um the re the things that are for sale at that station are are better.
It’s like higher return for your trade runs. >> Um and uh bigger ships for sale.
So like the first station is extra extra small and then the next one would be all the extra smalls and then all the smalls and all the mediums. Medium is as big as we’re we’re going in this in Gallia right now.
So the F4 is kind of like the the the best ship quote unquote. Um most expensive anyways. Uh let’s see yeah.
So, that’s kind of it for uh for station liberation, as as call it. This quest line to retake all the stations, unlocks progression, better better gear, better ships. Um, we were going to show little bit of the new planets if that’s something you guys are interested in.
>> don’t know, guys. Are you interested in seeing new planets? Let me know.
think they want to end the brew. don’t think they want it. >> It’s already time.
All right. >> We should probably just call it. >> Um, okay.
Where are we going?
Actually, first let’s do some videos.
So, got bunch of planet videos here. love gas voting. >> Quite poll.
>> People are people are asking about if we’ll have new biomes in the planets. Um, >> let’s see. They’re doing.
>> So, this is uh the first biome in Morvia, the most prevalent biome.
It’s primarily jungle world. >> The music is on spot again. >> Yes.
>> Yeah. We actually have an official sponsorship by Guns and Roses. >> Thank you guys.
Exo So this is this is on Morvia.
This is all you know procedurally generated >> jungle.
It’s thick. Oh my god, this looks so good. >> Yeah, it’s pretty it’s pretty cool how dense how dense it can be and still be, you know, pretty performant.
>> Right on. Um, so the next one is like this. Can you guys see that still?
>> Let’s go.
We can see it. >> Like grassland type environment, but uh yeah, look at that view, man. Bro, that’s where you should set your hab >> right there.
That’s the spot. >> Watching your farms. >> What vibe for real.
Um and then we have uh this bayou >> like you know wetland swamp type environment >> crickets and everything >> crickets and everything and then we have this wasteland.
So this uh little bit of explanation here.
So um mining companies kind of kind of ruined this planet little bit.
So if you can see these like tire treads, those are tire treads. Very big very big ships uh or machines came in and just kind of strip mined the whole planet like dug these giant holes >> and just kind of ruined it. all the trees, you know, you just kind of wasted the whole the whole area.
>> Man, wish could show you guys the concept art of that ship. Who did this? Michael is here.
If he’s allows If he allows, I’ll post in the chat. He’s here. >> Yeah.
Straight to sea level. Michael, >> straight to sea level. Do you allow?
>> I’m asking if can show the concept art of the ship. You are actually working, right Michael? We wanted to share the concept art of the ship that that did the the little terraforming on the surface of Merivia in Galia.
think he said yes. >> Look at that, boys. >> Oh my god, you actually posted the image.
>> This is the kind of thing you want to do some planetary mining on. >> Yeah, that’s monster. Big boy for big operations.
Equals cry every day because the ships exist. >> Yeah. Awesome.
All right.
Yeah. This last one, this isn’t Morvia.
This is actually different planet um called Sestoval. And it is rocky world, like Mars type world. Thin atmosphere, no life, lots of rocks.
But, uh, just really cool demo of how how dense we can actually get on the the foliage generation.
It’s pretty wild. Those are all rocks. This planet’s too hard for scientist mode, so it will be locked on higher difficulties.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right on. >> have no comments. >> Um, so was gonna This last section here is going to be little nerdy.
>> Um, we’re going to talk about how kind of little demo of planet tech, how it works, like how we how we build our planets. >> don’t know. Are people interested in learning about that?
>> don’t know. don’t think >> don’t think we have any nerds in this community actually. >> No, >> Brad.
Uh, are we thinking about other biomes for the future or can we even leak this like the things that we are also working on? think we like we leaked it enough already, right? >> think so.
>> We need We need to keep something for future episodes. Part >> two. >> Yes.
Let’s just say that we are building other biomes, really cool ones that you guys have theory crafted about in the past. All right.
So, I’m going to share for good luck. All right. You guys see that?
>> Yep. >> Cool. >> Now see it.
Okay. >> Yeah.
So, this is uh Testorval. Um this is that rocky world we were talking about.
So, gives me survives. >> Yeah. Um, so want to talk little bit about kind of how we how we build these, how how it works.
And so, our planet tech was is pretty much made by one guy like by himself. He’s like freshman in college.
It’s pretty wild. um he’s really smart dude, but he made this whole system like by himself. And so um kind of the main the main parts of it are the height generator and the render material and then the foliage layers.
So for the height generator, we it it’s using the material shader system.
So, this is the same uh get out of here. Uh, crashed. >> Well, well, okay.
>> Real quick, >> but it’s the same >> uh shader system that you’d use to make any any shader in the game, any surface. Um and for the height it is just outputting single black and white image essentially where white is high like like like mountain you know like the top and then black is low right um and gray is everywhere in between. Um so we’re just outputting that single black and white image and that gives us our height.
Um, and then we have separate shader that handles all the all the colors and the the normal maps and and all that stuff. Um, like like any other model in game.
Yeah. Like height, normal, ambient occlusion, uh, roughness, metallic, all that stuff. Um and then we layer on the foliage generators.
And foliage uh doesn’t have to necessarily be foliage. It is in the case of like Morvia like lots of trees and bushes and grass. Um but in the case of uh cystoval it’s just different size of rocks.
So big rocks, medium rocks, small rocks. Um, and then they they kind of stream in and out as you I’m sure you guys have have seen like playing uh Gallia. They stream in and out as you move around the planet.
>> Nice, >> man.
This is so cool. >> Let’s save some alpha Brad for the next one. What do you think?
>> They already got enough today. >> think so.
Well, they might they might get enough because just tried to relaunch and it’s not compliant. >> It’s the the real machine said it’s too much, Brad. Static.
>> Yeah. >> What the heck? >> Let’s do part two.
>> Might have to. What is this? >> Live invitation, Brad, for part two.
Man, now you guys see what’s coming. And I’m not sure people are were asking when, Brad, when can they test this? Is this something that we are allowed to discuss?
Michael Wagner is he’s here. Let him >> tell us. >> don’t know if we’ve announced when our next release is.
Is that >> steady steady >> steady?
Well, what we can say, we won’t give you date, >> but but it’s important to distinguish what is coming for this next release, like the next Unreal release will have new Gallia in it. Um, some of the stuff we’ve talked about today is is is future, right?
So, what for sure is coming in this next release, you’re going to have we’re going to be in new star system with new planets, new star bases, everything, new lore. We’re going to have an intro mission where you start on the planet and escape the planet. You make your way to the star base.
Um, we’re going to have the quest line where you uh take over, retake all the star bases. We’re going to have all that progression, the inventory system, the crafting, the uh buying ships and all that. Um, and then everything that was in Gallia previously.
So, we’re talking about all the, uh, randomly generated quests for trading um acquisition material acquisitions, uh, bounty hunting, the random events that you find just flying around in Subwarp.
So, everything that was in Gallia previously will will still be there. Um, placing the halves.
So things that we might have talked about that that will not be in this release. Um there’s not going to be quest lines for each career. We want to have that in the future.
We want to have expanded HAB uh placement.
So, so more like claim stake system where you place down you have your little house, but then you can also place down like mining unit and like greenhouse unit that will just spit out resources over time. Um, and then you will use those resources among other ways to get resources, but to repair the stargate, the jump gate.
So, that’ll be that’ll be down the road. Um, trying to think what else we may have talked about. Oh, did want to show one last thing.
In instead of this planet thing, which is pretty cool, but kind of dry, like we could probably like post video on uh on the the public server wherever, just showing kind of how our uh planet tech works if people are interested in that. Um, >> for sure. >> But, uh, new little area of the hanger.
>> We’ll show >> Let’s go. Let’s go. Just to close.
>> Yeah. To close us out. We do meditation session as well.
Uh, can you guys see that or do we need to do it twice? >> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yes, we can see.
Okay, you’re good. >> Good. All right.
Um, so this is all all the same, right? This should look very familiar to you guys. Um the same interior of the star base.
Um but what is new is if you come up this stair, there’s this door that opens.
And then there’s this elevator that goes up. Don’t be looking at her butt, you guys. Come on.
Stop that. >> Come on. >> Come on.
Steady now. >> Steady. Um, so if you were to go straight ahead, this is still being worked on, but this will be like the command center type room where you’ll meet the quest giver and get your quests and all that.
So, it’ll be like kind of makeshift military command center.
This isn’t like military star base, but it’s kind of become that cuz it’s the last hold out against Yorvix.
So, kind of this makeshift uh command center uh where the quest giver will be and she gives you your missions, etc. If we go left, uh this is the little dealership we talked about. >> Let’s >> So, can go up to any one of these little kiosks and can purchase these ships.
They won’t cost zero credits for you guys. You guys will have to pay for them, but you can buy any of these ships.
So the extra extra small ships are all in in the star base in the first one and then the bigger ones will be in the stations you unlock.
And then uh if we come down here, we get the players have.
This is this is some alpha. Jose hasn’t even seen this yet. >> Oh my god.
>> Little player room.
So, this is uh probably where you’ll start when like when you log into the game. You’ll start here and then go down the elevator to the hanger. Um, >> man, this is so cool.
