Star Atlas is embarking on a highly anticipated period dubbed Star Atlas Summer, commencing on July 28th with the Star Atlas Community Week, which will kick off a three-town hall campaign stretching across the entire summer. Each of these town halls is set to feature a different product release, with some updates being entirely unexpected by even the most dedicated players. For instance, the first town hall on July 30th will include the Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) release, which is expected to offer a fantastic experience, especially for shooter game enthusiasts, and will also unveil the “Piskel’s arena,” described as 100% complete and “insane”. Further details on the second and third town halls remain under wraps to avoid premature disclosure.

Community Week itself is envisioned as a week-long party, a “community carnival,” where participants can earn Community Carnival tickets by being active and engaging in various events, games, and activities within the Star Atlas Discord, such as Gartic, poker night, and trivia. These tickets are not craftable or earnable in-game, and can only be obtained through participation and claiming codes. On Saturday, a Community Carnival raffle will be held with “pretty crazy prizes,” including a Greek Sampa Fimble Mamba Calico ship, platinum, gold, and silver packs, and various other ships like Fimble Lobies, Bis Solos, and Ora Rushes. A custom bot has been developed specifically for this event to manage ticket submissions and allow for betting and challenges that could double or zero out tickets. Additionally, those who participate in all Community Week events and claim their codes will earn an exclusive, non-transferable collectible badge with no expected utility, meant as a commemorative item.

Several other noteworthy events and updates are happening during Community Week and beyond. The COPA guild competition has a submission deadline of tomorrow, requiring guilds to present their accomplishments, plans, and engagement strategies, competing for $26,000 in prizes in Star Atlas Land and “eternal glory”. Guilds can submit pre-recorded presentations but must send representatives for a judge Q&A session. The Johnny Awards nominations are also closing tomorrow, allowing community members to nominate their favorite contributors across various categories. A new award this year is the “Most Popular Guild,” which is entirely community-voted.

On Thursday, July 31st, a Team versus Community event will take place, where players can register their teams to play “Surge” against the Star Atlas team. Winning against the team will earn participants prizes, and there will be limited spots, with prioritization given to different guilds if there are many sign-ups. An official caster, Neil Armstrong, is set to host this event. There will also be a special “Lore Keepers” episode tomorrow, potentially sharing “alpha” about upcoming lore releases.

In terms of broader developments, a new Star Atlas content creator named Sakalain is being highlighted for his activities in the shooter game, notably as the first champion and MVP of the Aries Quest tournament. Another consistent content creator, Beyond the Horizon, also received a shout-out. Significantly, 31.5% of the total POLIS supply is now locked, with most of it for five years, demonstrating strong community conviction. Star Atlas is also planning a major marketing push, engaging with web3 gaming creators of various sizes and even those outside of web3 gaming, as well as collaborating with different projects to “break the echo chamber” and onboard new community members.

For European community members, three different Star Atlas meetups are being organized: in Valencia, Spain on August 6th, in Utrecht, Netherlands on July 15th, and during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany on August 23rd or 24th. These meetups are partly funded by an Iris Bounty PIP from the DAO. Finally, community builders are invited to submit short commercial videos showcasing their projects within the Star Atlas community, which will be shared throughout Community Week free of charge to highlight community creations. The overall sentiment is one of immense excitement, with these updates being described as the “biggest series of releases in Star Atlas history” and a “time to strike”.
