The “Atlas Brew #171 – Star Atlas Summer Recap” video from the Star Atlas TV YouTube channel provided a comprehensive overview of the significant developments and community events that occurred during Star Atlas Summer, highlighting how quickly things are progressing in the ecosystem. The host expressed the sentiment that there’s been so much activity, perhaps even “a little too much going on”.
The recap began by acknowledging new community-driven developments, including Arthy’s cloud-based SLY Assistant, which enables users to run SLY Assistant 24/7 without needing their PC to stay on, and was made free for September for a wider testing phase. Another community shoutout went to Onuka Akichi, who became a new Bantara member after accumulating over 600 hours playing Star Atlas, a feat that suggests he might be the most hours-played individual globally. Additionally, PG developed Star Seekers, a hub of Star Atlas mini-games featuring a leaderboard and the promise of rewards like ships for top players.
The discussion also touched upon the UE5 leaderboard, with players like Hagmer, Bruho, and Piancast being mentioned for their performance, and statistics for various weapons like the scout rifle, sniper, shotgun, grenade rifle, and gatling gun were examined. The impressive recruiting strategy of the Chimera guild, led by Bruho, was also highlighted, emphasizing their focus on attracting skilled UE5 players.
The “Star Atlas Summer” officially kicked off with Community Week, featuring events like COPA, where Stratas Italia secured first place, followed by Balk to Bulk and AIA. The Jon Awards recognized community members, with Neo Armstrong named Community MVP, Jindo as Helper of the Year, Hackmare as Gump Player of the Year, and AIA as the Most Popular Guild. There was also a positive discussion about potentially bringing back the Solar Quint bot, which allowed players to engage in rock-paper-scissors to claim codes and rewards. A Town Hall during this week introduced crucial updates such as crew configuration progression and dedicated servers in UE5, which significantly enhanced the game’s replayability.
Following Community Week, Star Atlas hosted several meetups, including events in Spain, the Netherlands, and a major highlight at Gamescom in Cologne. The Gamescom meetup, sponsored by the DAO, saw 70 out of 83 registered attendees, featuring presentations from various sponsors like Super Phoenix DAO, Startless TV, and Polaris Fuel. The event fostered real-life connections, offered goodie bags and a raffle where everyone won a prize, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with plans already underway for a larger event next year capable of hosting up to 800 people.
Further into the summer, Town Hall number two revealed a new website revamp which has drastically improved user conversion, now averaging over 200 email captures per day compared to the previous 5-15. This town hall also brought the announcement of Sync and the release of the new Holos Sim season. Despite a “bumpy start” due to an unprecedented number of players and infrastructure challenges, Holosim has seen the highest average daily users in any Star Atlas product, demonstrating strong player enjoyment and a 33% battle pass conversion rate, with future plans for PVE scenarios. The team acknowledged the frustrating initial experience but emphasized the product’s overall success.
Town Hall number three, which occurred recently, introduced the infinite Starbase update for Sage and the open-sourcing of Starframe, which received positive attention from the Solana ecosystem and included a developer hour for teaching its use. A major highlight was the integration of Ink into UE5, allowing UE5 players to earn Ink—a resource needed by Sage players—for their in-game activities, thereby connecting the game’s backends and economies. Examples of high Ink earnings were given, such as Hackmer with 3,353 Ink and Onuka with 6,322 Ink. Lastly, the Sage editor suite was released, offering millions of data points and real-time updates to the community, allowing them to track balancing and development for the upcoming C4.
Looking ahead, the community can anticipate the Sync airdrop point season, which will reward players for holding POLIS and ATLAS, marketplace purchases, and participation in Holosim, UE5, and Sage. A light paper for Sync is also expected soon. A new UE5 update is being aimed for October, and the C4 Public Test Realm (PTR) is on the horizon, for which players are encouraged to use the Sage Editor Suite for preparation. While a new Holos Sim chapter is planned, the immediate focus is on resolving infrastructure issues and improving performance for the current chapter before a new marketing push. Additionally, there’s a hint of a Core relaunch and other exciting, undisclosed developments expected by the end of the year. The team confirmed that the Star Atlas journey continues at “full steam ahead”.
