[00:00:00] Hi, this is Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my Starless Week in Review podcast. This is podcast number 96. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website at intergalacticherald. com. Please look for news recap number 145. So quick summary of the content go over a few videos that came out from different Starless content creators and.
[00:00:23] And a surprise, even though the Stardust team was out, they actually sent us some things. And then I’ll do my kind of state of Stardust and what I’ve been working on. But before we get to that, just a couple of things that I am working on. One is I do have a Stardust Dow PIP available. So that’s one of the proposals for some Dow treasury funds.
[00:00:41] So if you go to the starless discord, you look for the Dow section, and then in PIP ideas, there’ll be one for an in person community meetup platform. Really appreciate it. If you could take a look at that. If you have any questions, please post again, that’s great. And if you like it, please do a thumbs up.
[00:00:56] And that will actually help me move to the next phase to turn it into a full draft. Additionally, I do have a Star Atlas merch store at intergalacticgear. com. It’s open for business. It has some mugs. Supposed to have more things, but been, well, holidays. Well, anyways, very long story. You don’t need to, you don’t care.
[00:01:13] Not been doing much work, but got one more week. of winter break. So we’ll see what do. And also I am trying to get together a starless community for people who aren’t a member of guilds, would like more kind of threaded discussions, get alerts when things occur, and maybe not the chat format that’s in the starless discord.
[00:01:32] So if you go to intergalacticcoalition. com you can take a look there and fill out an interest survey. So this last week there wasn’t, well there was no real news from the Stardust team. They’re actually on their winter break one of two weeks. So, but we did have a few videos from content creators that kind of reacted to the week prior.
[00:01:51] So Beyond the Horizon actually did two really great in depth videos on the town hall, kind of going into different things on the Actually, I don’t remember what he went into. I watched him a week ago. But anyways, it was really kind of cool. He did confirm, and I guess I just missed it, that the crew that you actually see in the UE5 showroom version are your exact crew.
[00:02:12] They’re just not yet exactly 100 percent mapping of all the characteristics and things like that. But yeah. Nevertheless crew being integrated is great. And it was kind of cool looking at the different species as he was going through the showroom and, and trying things out. So that was actually a great video.
[00:02:27] And he has two, not sure if he’s going to do more, but at least two of those. And then also beyond the horizon released a Christmas video and. I partly knew because I put a video into it, but I have to admit it was a great community effort. He deserved deserved his content creator of the year.
[00:02:41] And definitely I think this could easily be the video of the year for 2024. But anyways, take a look at that. I do have a link to it, but it was just great to see a lot of different Star Atlas community members give little shout outs to Star Atlas and the Star Atlas team and also all the Beyond the rise in little outtakes he pulls together.
[00:02:58] So great Thane, awesome, creative efforts. So do check that out. Metaverse Explorer did his kind of weekly updates on star Atlas. So again, if you want to kind of catch up, he’s another great video for the past week. He did do some highlights of the economy report, so that’s great. So if you’re interested in a little more of that, please take a look at that.
[00:03:17] He also noted, and I kind of forgot this popped up, but these Starless team did update the roadmap. Which is where they’re keeping things. So good to have a update of that though, as Metaverse Explorer mentioned, and I agree with him needs more statuses than just in progress or completed.
[00:03:34] So, but you know. We have it, so at least it’s there. And the other thing he mentioned that I hadn’t taken a look at is the great, one of the two great community built tools, EVE, EVE Eye has added the local markets status of those, so you can check without having to go into Sage, like, I think it was the different orders and things like that.
[00:03:53] So definitely something I want to check out. Cause I’m kind of toying with maybe doing some of that local selling. So anyway, so that’s one of the main content creations. I think if you did do a newsletter too, so you can find that on my website news recap, number one 45. And then one last kind of update was I noticed some new items in the inventory when I logged in, and I haven’t heard anything from the team, so apparently the ship components, which were one of the things when Star Atlas decided to make the crew, they the Kind of extracted them from what we considered a ship before because a ship had crew, but it also had ship components So they actually released that unannounced but nevertheless released it They did have an announcement in the discord.
[00:04:35] So that eliminated the what’s this? So again, we have them don’t really know what they do if anything, but you can claim them. So if you see that that’s what that’s about. So check out these, their starless discord for more, well, what limited information there is about that. So again, the team is on break.
[00:04:53] So it was kind of well, both unexpected and a little strange. We didn’t think they were working. So anyway, so yeah, that’s pretty much it. But again, wasn’t going to be a lot of updates, so we’ll see what the next week brings. And then kind of moving into the last two segments kind of the status star Atlas and kind of my journey.
[00:05:09] So both Beyond the Horizon and Metaverse Explorer, I think both showed a little bit of the UE5, the updated thing. So I’m going to try to look at that. I’m actually in the process of building a computer myself. So anyway, so I’m kind of focusing on that. But hopefully with the new parts, you know, anyways, but so I’m definitely interesting looking at it, but videos that I’ve been seeing and stuff, it does look really cool.
[00:05:32] But also on the other hand, they have mentioned it is very buggy. Metaverse Explorer tried to look at the fleet command, which I was actually kind of curious about too, and it crashed on them. So again, don’t, don’t know. I’ll try it on mine, but yeah, again, well, I guess we’re in the state. So I’m glad they released it.
[00:05:49] It was great to see everything. But given that. Hate to say it, but If you can’t really play it or can’t even try it I don’t know, I kind of wish they would have waited to reuse it after the winter break so they could have fixed the bugs that are there and showed some other things. But again, I haven’t tried it for myself so I can’t say for sure it’s buggy, but so far the other content creators have had definite issues and I know there’s some sort of wallet issue too.
[00:06:13] So, anyways but again, gonna take a look at it. However, I did say I was going to do that last year and I didn’t, so we’ll see. I got one day scheduled this upcoming week to take a look at it once I get my computer built. But one thing I did want to bring up and I kind of was hesitant at first, but then I was like, no, that’s a great topic.
[00:06:31] And why not? Metaverse Explorer was in his latest video did mention that somebody in his YouTube comment posted about, well, you know, Stardust is just a scam. And I guess we should caveat all this YouTube comments. So, but it is seems to be an ongoing thing about being a scam. And I wanted to break this into a couple of different parts.
[00:06:52] One was, I’m going to call it just the typical crypto definition, because we hear a lot of that for scams. And, you know, we think of FTX, which was a actual scam. You know, the People are convicted of crimes or serving jail terms. I mean, so it, it was fraud. It wasn’t anything. And then there was a couple other ones where people weren’t disclosing that they had financial stakes in crypto they were promoting.
[00:07:15] So, I mean, those are definitely scams. They violate, you know, financial laws and things like that. So, so definitely there. But when it comes to Star Oz, I think to me at least, I don’t consider it any sort of crypto scam in the sense that Crypto is involved, but there is limited hyping of the tokens. In fact, I remember at the latest Oh, what was it?
[00:07:42] Breakpoint? Yeah. When the StarList team had their summit the CEO was being interviewed by a non community influencer, and he was very upfront about, well, I don’t talk about the price of the tokens and things like that. So I guess again and again, the graphic, the classic definition of a crypto scam, quote unquote, pump and dump.
[00:08:03] I think anybody who says that, I mean, that that’s not really looking at what it is. And again, I’m trying to be very objective about this because again, you could say, well, I’m in the community, but I, you know, there, there is nothing on the short term, I guess we’ll can maybe say. That feels like that. Now, long term.
[00:08:25] Well, before we do that, let’s talk about a few things that Star Atlas is. Well, first of all, it is definitely a game, a video game. And it is being dealt, or it is being handled differently than other traditional video games. And, and the team has been open about this, that they’re basically building in public.
[00:08:42] So we’re seeing things that we don’t normally see. And the. The biggest comparison people make is to Star Citizen, which is also being, in a sense, built in public. But, both of those are also what we would consider crowdfunded. Star Atlas was more of the traditional one. I’m sorry Star Citizen was more the traditional one.
[00:09:00] Star Atlas is more of the crypto funding one. So so I think those are fair criticisms that there’s no game yet to play, and again we can go in the nuances of which is a game, is Sage a game, is the showroom a game, but what their ultimate goal is a game, and we see the building box for that.
[00:09:18] The other thing is, I think if we say a star, it was a business and could it fail? Of course, they definitely have had cashflow problems. They definitely had layoffs, all the things that are classic in a business. But does that make it a scam? I don’t think so. Businesses all the time. I mean, again, it was they’re hiding something.
[00:09:35] But again, I think. We do have to say that STAR S has been very transparent, especially if you have access to the Foundation Room. You do hear and see a lot. And again, they’ve been out in the public at conferences and things like that. So I think to summarize, I think the biggest issue of all this is just people’s perception of time and desire.
[00:09:53] Time in the sense of how long it’s going to take. And we could critique timing and how long everything’s taking, but I think in fairness, we would have to say they’re building a very complex game. They’re building a business at the same time. And it’s not happening as fast as we, the community, the gamers want.
[00:10:15] Well, That’s how it works. So anyways that’s just my thoughts on that. So lastly just go through again, kind of quickly my journey still mining carbon getting very close nearing, nearing that 35 million thing, and then I am going to do some research on whether or not it makes more sense to sell stuff or transport it myself.
[00:10:33] And that’s also on my agenda for this upcoming week. So that’s pretty much it. Again, team didn’t, a few content came out. But that’s pretty much it. So just to wrap up again if you’re interested in buying a starless mug, please check out intergalacticgear. com is open for business. And if you’re interested in joining a community of starless gamers and are not member of guilds, please take a look at intergalacticcoalition.
[00:10:56] com. Other than that, hope you guys are having a great winter break holidays. If you celebrate him, everybody. I believe is upcoming for the new year’s. So wish you a happy new year’s eve and probably talk to you again next week. Otherwise, this is Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Have a great week ahead and end of the 2024.
