[00:00:00] Hi, this is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my startless week in review podcast. This is podcast number 93. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website at intergalacticherald. com. Please look for news recap number 142. So a quick intro on some of the things we’ll be talking about today.

[00:00:18] Lots of stuff about local markets and RFRs. There was a couple of posts from other content creators. There was an Atlas brew and there was an econ. Economic form, sorry. Economic? Economy? No, I think they’re economic. Economic form. Anyways, so lots of talk about that I’ll do and then I’ll do my kind of two regular segments, my kind of thoughts on the state of Star Atlas and my journey.

[00:00:39] But before I get to that, just a couple things that I’m working on. One I wanted to call out again, I’ve actually submitted PIP. Now, again, if you’re not totally up on all the Star Atlas community Dow Distributed Autonomous Organizations. Anyways, PIPs are proposals for making changes to the Star Atlas Metaverse, whatever, you know, things, but in this particular thing, it’s actually kind of a community aspects.

[00:01:04] So there are some funds that can be granted to different community members, or I actually, now I think about it, pretty, probably anybody who could submit a thing. Actually, no, that’s a good question. I hadn’t thought about that. Oh, I guess, I guess you probably have to own some polis so you can have access to the discord where you can submit the ideas.

[00:01:22] Huh. I hadn’t really thought about that, but again, probably not interested in doing a proposal if you aren’t really into Star Atlas, but anyways. In the Starless Discord, in the PIP ideas, I have submitted a proposal for a in person community meetup platform. Basically, this would be a way for community members to host in person meetups.

[00:01:43] Worldwide no, no restrictions, though I admit I will be starting with English based ones only because I speak English, but definitely the plan and part of the proposal is to move to a multilingual so that everybody can post in their language of choice, and then, of course make sure that the meetups, the locations, and things like that, obviously can occur worldwide.

[00:02:02] in any location. So anyway, so I’d really appreciate if one feedback, if you would if you, if you own Polis, I guess you do have to own Polis first. You do have to get verified to get access to those portions of the Stardust discord. But if you’re in there, then you can look for the PIP ideas.

[00:02:16] Channel. And again it’s got my name, but it’s also in person community meetup platform. Love. If you could take a look at that, give me any thoughts, feedback. And if you like what you see I would greatly appreciate a thumbs up on that post so that if I get 25, I can move to the drafts phase. So again really appreciate if you have any extra time to check out the startless discord in that section.

[00:02:36] And then if you’ve been listening before, I’ll just quickly remind you. I am I do have a merch store. Hopefully we’ll get more done on it. I had hoped to do that last weekend, but this time family came up. So but again, I, I have, I have goals for tomorrow to do a little more work on the merge.

[00:02:51] You can go to intergalacticgear. com, take a look, selling some mugs right now. Hope to get some other products out. And then the other project I have is a guess used to call it a non guild. Guild, but I’ll just call it a, a startlist gamer community. This is more of for people that aren’t member of guilds maybe don’t find the startlist discord don’t like the chat interface, but still want to kind of chat with people and, and do more threaded discussions and maybe get email alerts when, when things are posted.

[00:03:18] So go to intergalactic coalition. com. I do have an interest survey there. So I appreciate if anybody kind of fits. Much, they’re more their style of communication and community check that out. So, okay, so moving ahead, I kind of said that basically this past week was a whole lot of stuff about local markets and RFRs.

[00:03:35] So Beyond the Horizon and Metaverse Explorer both did a video about their thoughts on it. I do want to call out Beyond the Horizon on the RFRs, which I mentioned, I don’t remember what they are. Apparently they’re a request for resources and he proposed a different idea and said that, you know, He could use a better name.

[00:03:53] He’s since came out with a comic that kind of makes fun of it too. So you know, to each his own, but I did have to laugh cause, you know, we just use these acronyms, but yeah. Requests for resources is kind of, I mean, it is what it is, but yeah, you know, anyways, so but anyways, you can check out both other videos if you want some more information about it on the Atlas brew, which again is the star house community teams, weekly community event which is recorded by starless TV, so if you obviously it’s past, so you can go back and listen to that link again is in my newsletter.

[00:04:26] If you go to intergalacticherald. com, news recap number 142, you can find that link. And they gave some information definitely both some sneak previews of the user interface. Unfortunately I was watching on my phone, so it’s too small and I had, you know, can’t really zoom in on a YouTube video.

[00:04:45] But if you’re looking on a desktop or something, I. You know, I actually haven’t really ever watched it on a desktop, but I assume it’s, it’s high res quality so you can actually see what they’re showing. So they gave a couple of sneak previews of the interface for local markets. They’ll it was mentioned it’s very similar to what we currently do, which makes sense why wouldn’t you reuse the code.

[00:05:02] So that was good. They kind of tied it all together and then they did a little theory crafting. They had a couple community members who were giving their thoughts on how it would work. So again, if you’re interested in local markets great. One thing that was mentioned I forget by who on, because there was five total people one of the things that has been talked about a lot is, you know how can a small player get more involved?

[00:05:22] And what was interesting, and I, I guess I hadn’t put two and two together when, when they said local markets because part of it was talking about how these RFRs can be crafted and then, let’s see sold. Let me see, let me back up. They, there’ll be certain starbases that are rotating, ran, maybe, maybe randomly, not ran, anyways, they’re changing, so it’s not static on which starbases you can craft an RFR, but then only certain starbases can use, redeem them.

[00:05:51] Cell? Yeah, Cell for Redemption, because again, an RFR directly equates to a certain number of Atlas. So, I kind of was aware of all that, but one thing that someone brought up is, well, it’s all resources. So you can basically buy fuel out of Starbase. And I was like, oh, and then again, this was in the context of small players.

[00:06:11] So basically, In the past if you wanted to do anything you would have to move, warp, or sub warp to that area with fuel, do something, and then come back, and, and again, for smaller fleets, you can’t carry as much fuel with yourself, and, of course, the only place you can get fuel again is back at the central station.

[00:06:30] Central Space Station, CSS. So now, again, all resources are available. So, you could actually go to a Starbase, assuming somebody else brings some fuel there, you could buy fuel on that local market, and By extension, anything, food, fuel, I guess we don’t need toolkits. So, again, it’s not just the RFRs, it’s not just the raw materials, the, you know, hydrogen, copper, or, excuse me, carbon, you know, things like that, or the crafted components.

[00:06:59] Basically, it’s the Things you need for your fleets, like fuel and food and ammo. So as much as I was like, wow, there’s a lot that local markets open up. I mean, that’s a game changer. I mean that, you know, again, you could take your small fleet, go someplace else. and keep fuel and food. Again, you have to purchase it, but again, you don’t purchase it at the Central Space Station unless, again, you have a claim stake that’s creating it for you.

[00:07:27] So, anyways, yeah, I agree. It does open up for different size players for sure. So again, just finding out more, and again, it becomes more and more interesting. So, again, that was on last Wednesday, so then on last Thursday, the economic forum occurred. So, again, this is the economic team. Oh, man, I have to get better with names.

[00:07:49] Yeah, anyways, Chris for sure, Gareth I think. Oh, that was it, they were joking about what Gareth’s title was, so again, they’re joking about it, I don’t even remember. But anyways they had their monthly presentation. Again it’s great I think this is an awesome part to share with the community in a stand, or a regular session.

[00:08:06] And as I think one of them mentioned it gives Much more of a not necessarily fair, but it is fair, but also just a way that everything’s disseminated one time So you don’t have to go poking around different star Discord chat groups or whatever. I mean, here’s what they did and they do a presentation.

[00:08:21] They have a they have a bullet point I’m not sure they’re going over PowerPoint, but you know what I mean. So they basically, again, also talked about local markets and RFRs. At this point I didn’t write down much, because if you’re really interested, just go watch the video. Again, Star OSTB was nice enough to record that and post it on his YouTube channel.

[00:08:39] But I really wanted to caught more of some of the different things. So one was the talk on the SDU scannings. We had that announcement and that change, but this economic forum basically kind of put some statistics behind it and made a lot of sense. And again, it was, was really fascinating, even though, again, I’m not totally into statistics, but they had a projection of how much they thought it would save on Solana fees and they hit it.

[00:09:03] So again, I’m sure they’re happy with that, but it’s also kind of cool to see how projection or prediction of what they think the game change will be actually occur. So that’s, that’s always kind of cool to see that kind of reporting. The big one that they kind of showed that I thought was really interesting and something they have been talking about wanting to do for a while was Econ Dashboard.

[00:09:23] Now there are definitely Star Atlas dashboards out there either I know AFIA does a lot of the flip side. You can get some of the information I guess it’s more of action within Eve, Evie, but I think there’s another, another gentleman from our employee who does some some dashboards.

[00:09:39] So, but what was very interesting about this one is apparently this is going to be pulling from the direct data streams that the Star OS team has access to. So not sure again, Truly the data is different than what others could get to. But well, I don’t know, it was, it was more presentable and I don’t know if that’s just because they were showing less information or, but it seemed much more approachable and looking at the data could be partly because I create marketing reports for my clients in my business.

[00:10:07] So I’m always trying to simplify and make them much more to the point where I, I, I know my clients don’t care about the raw data up, but anyways, but like one of the graphs was the daily active user one. And again, it was dynamic. It can move the chart around and look at it in different ways. So anyways, it was, it was really interesting.

[00:10:23] They said that no, actually they did kind of give it, when they, when they send out the quarterly report, that was when they were gonna make accessible the dashboard. So normally they put up the quarter report at the end of the quarter, which is only a few weeks away. So you feel like they’re kind of tight or they said they were tied together.

[00:10:39] So anyway, so that should be coming shortly. And again, it looks really great and it’s great to have them. Well, the data, the team’s already looking at, I guess, is the key. What was kind of interesting about the the econ dashboard. So that’s something that they mentioned. And again, if you want all the details.

[00:10:52] Just, you know, watch the video here. You don’t come to me, hopefully, for all the details. Just, I’ll give you the links to things. Anyways, moving on, so the last two sections, kind of, again, my state of star atlas. So again local markets, obviously, has been the topic for a while now. And I have to admit, quote unquote, anticipation, at least from my perspective, is definitely growing.

[00:11:16] And again, I wanted to mention that. Kind of say this. I don’t know what’s different or if it’s just that this is the only thing we’re focusing on So it feels good, but this one seems to have been rolled out really well I mean from from teases early on about things to Out and out announcements or mentioning and again, I think maybe because this is more of a an econ economy feature that it feels like we heard about these and then You know, got some indications and now we’re seeing screenshots.

[00:11:45] So I don’t know, it’s, it’s, it’s a new feature, but this one feels like we’re getting the info. It’s kind of moving along. We kind of feel, of course, everybody wants to know when, but it, it, it’s not like hyping something. I mean, we’re, we’re getting the details kind of before, and then we’re like, Hey, I didn’t think about you to do that.

[00:12:03] You could do that. And again, then the confirmation when they’re explaining. So I don’t know. It just feels like a, a really good rollout of a new feature. And yeah, I don’t know. It’s, it feels good. And again, it’s something that, and I guess the, the wind part, they’ve been, the team has been very careful about not putting a date on it.

[00:12:18] In fact Chris actually almost slipped and said the date. So they, they obviously have a date. And we know there’s development blockchain, obviously user interface. So, I mean, there’s, there’s a lot of work to go into it, not to mention just the, the concepts and, and the what do you call it? You know.

[00:12:37] The strategy, no, not the strategy, sorry, but the, how it should work, you know, again, a developer of, of technology still has to know what he’s, or he or she is building, so that, I can’t think of what the term is, but, you know, that’s how it’ll be worked out a while ago, too, so, anyway, so yeah, so it feels really good, and it doesn’t feel overhyped, and it doesn’t feel like You know, we’ve been promised something, and again, I saw Metaverse Explored has been doing some YouTube shorts, and he was like, you know, again, we’ve been, you know, waiting for a long time, and those are all still valid points, but at least on this single feature, you know, from the moment it became like, oh, hey, this is coming, to how it’s moved forward, I mean, it feels very good and organic, so anyways but having said all that, and again, everybody’s always talking about when if we’re objective and look at the calendar and from past history the starless team does take a winter break and it sure feels like that’s going to be less than, well, start in two weeks.

[00:13:33] Again, the two weeks with Christmas and New Year’s. So kind of hope they don’t release it in two weeks, only because I think this is one of those that will have a lot of changes to how people are playing Sage with the introduction of two new things related to Sage. So again, we have the LP right now, obviously the standard mining to gather resources the crafting of the golden tickets and that carnival raffle is going on for many more months.

[00:14:04] So this one feels like, wow, this is really going to add a whole lot more. And again, if it’s released and then they leave for two weeks yeah, I think. Yeah, I really hope they don’t release it because I’m sure again nothing against the team for bugs or whatever but it seems inevitable and and they would kind of As much as it’d be fun to learn this stuff over winter break for people who are able to take off some time for the holidays, it, it, it feels like again, it would just anyways, it’s not for me to say one way or another, but again, two weeks, it does seem like probably not coming out in two weeks, but.

[00:14:40] Yeah, who knows? So anyways, that’s, that’s sort of it. Again, it’s it’s been pretty quiet, maybe is the best way to say, not lacking, because I know we’ve heard a lot about the UE5 development, especially seeing all the gameplay modes. It was at the breakpoint. Again, it was mentioned a month or two ago, you know, people thought things were coming.

[00:14:57] Team said we never said that, but, you know, whatever, neither here nor there. Crew has come and unfortunately gone. So Sage seems like a good place to be putting effort and, and bringing something to the team, maybe again as a, as a new year thing. So anyway, so the final section kind of talking about my journey.

[00:15:14] Still mining carbon. So again, I’m only on, so if you’ve been following along, I’m trying to get a Mamba X by mining the components. I was running mining fleet, transport fleet and a mining hydrogen to craft into, Unfortunately, I was burning through way too much soul. So I went to a single thing.

[00:15:31] So, again, just stop mining carbon. Don’t have my papers in front of me, but I thought I was like, like, 14 or 15 million carbon, but I need, like, 30. Five million to have all their things. So I ran out of ammo and food at the starbase, wherever I’m mining carbon. So I had to switch from a mining task back to a transport.

[00:15:51] So I’ve been moving ammo and food. Yeah, ammo and food out and bringing some of the carbon back. So it’s just been going back and forth. I bumped everything up to, I think, I think a million. Ammo and food at the Central Space Station, so it’s working through that. What I’ve, think I’m stumbling upon is you just put something in and you run the, run the Sly Assistant until it runs out and then that’s a good trigger because it probably ran out where you want it to run out, so then switch back, move the ship.

[00:16:17] Go back to mining or something like that. But the real important thing is my, I actually do have my papers here. So my Solana fees have definitely become much more reasonable. I’m looking at my list now and the guy, a little piece of paper here. And I kind of track it once in the morning, once in the evening or afternoon, late at dinnertime.

[00:16:33] And At least on this piece of paper, I started with 0. 0907. So I don’t have dates here, so I don’t know. Let’s just call it a week. I’m not sure, but now we’re at 0. 0787. So, you know, barely can’t do the math and have it 0. 1. 012 sol in, let’s say, a week of mining, and in that point I went from looks like 9, 600, 000 carbon to 14, 000, 000, so let’s just say 5, 000, 000 carbon.

[00:17:03] So, again, I’m not sure, again, if that’s a good return on my investment, but, That’s not really what I’m trying to do because my goal is to mine a ship, not putting anything into the system, just using what I already have or my claim stakes. And, you know, again, that feels a whole lot better on the Mount of Sol to have used given that thing.

[00:17:23] So I definitely think my single operation, not trying to have multiple feats running at the same time, maximizing my cargo is definitely a lesson learned and something I’ll apply. I think I may have mentioned on a past one, I do still have my small and medium. Is it a medium? Pretty sure it’s a, hopefully it’s a medium ship.

[00:17:41] And score, faction fleet, just getting Atlas, which, again, just my style. Again, I’m sure I’d have more cargo if I moved them, but I just sort of like the idea that they’re just getting Atlas for absolutely, well, again, my claim stakes can keep those guys restocked. So so I’m good, I’m good with that, personal.

[00:18:01] Again, I’m not sure if it’s the right strategy, but it’s the one I want to do. So anyways, yeah, so, yeah, so, so I feel so better. So I’m, I’m feeling pretty good about kind of keeping this going definitely to finish the carbon loop and then I’ll see about the next resource and the next fortunately hydrogen had the highest number I needed.

[00:18:16] Carbon was the second highest, and then they become much more reasonable under 10 million for things like 5 or 6 million. So, but the distances start changing. So that should start hitting the requiring more fuel, assuming, Mining is same cost of ammo and food than a mining. Again, I know there’s some differences with material hardness or something.

[00:18:39] I don’t know. I’ve never really looked at all the in depth things because it’s just, it’s not, I mean, I’m not as opposed to playing it, a game that’s really based upon all those details, but, I, I don’t know. I guess I still, just to go off on a tangent, I guess I’m still of the opinion of the thing that got me interested wasn’t a spreadsheet math game.

[00:19:00] It was more of exploration. Like, you know, again, I’ve mentioned many times on way older podcasts about much more interest in RTSs and, and my traditional RTSs, you just put some villagers or something mining or harvesting food or mining gold and like age of empires. And you don’t care about the hardness.

[00:19:19] You don’t care about the cargo. I’ll just make sure the villagers aren’t idle. I mean, that, that to me is perfectly Interesting part, but again, it’s, you’re crafting, or excuse me, you’re building, you know, Age of Empires, you know, knights and pikemen and whatever else, and then if it’s something like what was I playing, also Supreme Commander, you know, you’re building different ships and planes and stuff like that.

[00:19:41] So it’s really, you keep your economy going of a couple things so that you can be building. Units to go out and do combat. So I know that’s all coming, but yeah, it’s hard to get too much more into the nitty gritty of the economic. Number game. So but that’s just me. Other people are enjoying it and that’s great.

[00:19:59] It’s just, again, I’m much more looking to something, you know, actually again, not to take too much more time, but I guess the other thing is the permanency you know, again, I really like the concept of the claim stakes where I’m taking a piece of the universe of star Atlas and it’s my place. I know they’ve said, you know, not as much is going to keep changing in Sage, but I don’t know, still, we’ve had it change once.

[00:20:25] I just feel like once we get to the, the true kind of, oh, what was it, player progression and, and things like that, you know, then if I, you know, put a claim stake down on a planet, you just get a feeling that planet’s there forever, or hopefully it’s there forever. I mean, that’s what I want it to be, you know, if I’m got a crew and I’m up, up doing, or what do you call it?

[00:20:44] Whatever you do. Yeah. progression leveling up. Sorry, I can’t remember all the terms. Anyways, you just feel like you can level up your land, I guess, your cram stick or your piece of the plan or something like that. So that, that kind of permanency is, is probably the thing that caught me, well, the permanency didn’t, but the idea of doing that was the original thing of getting in.

[00:21:03] Because again, I could just play an RTS and after 30 minutes throw it away. So the idea that this is a permanent environment, permanent, yeah you know, forever environment of building The star Atlas metaverse. Anyways, okay. I’ve gone off on tangents. Nevermind. That was pretty much it. So thanks for listening again.

[00:21:18] Always a welcome to have guests. I know I’ve mentioned a couple people reached out and December is gonna, I know it’s not over. It barely began, but I have two, turns out really busy weeks ahead for my business. All good positive things, a couple new, or, yuck, one new client, hopefully another new client.

[00:21:36] And a great proposal, or a great prospect, so I’m swamped and I had a bad last week with timing. So so I don’t think I’m going to be able to put too much time into new stuff for two weeks and then do one of the fringe benefits of being a business owner, finally I can take off time. So, I’m closing up shop for sure.

[00:21:55] I’ve got to tell all my clients this week that yeah, it won’t be won’t be as accessible during the, between Christmas and December. Well, a couple of days after New Year’s. So so not not time when I want to start some things, but I would like to do podcast guests, so maybe I’ll make that a New Year’s resolution to find some time.

[00:22:10] So again, if you’re interested either chatting about. Leak in review coming on if you’re another content creator and just chatting about Star Atlas or any community members, or again, love to talk to any Star Atlas employees team members, again really interested in recording some podcasts about kind of some beginner topics, some foundational content again, I go back to the one I’ve fortunate to have Jose talking about lore.

[00:22:32] I just, again, even to this day found, you know, Really changed my whole perspective on the world once we started talking and realizing connections and things like that So anyways but anyways, please go to intergalacticherald. com look for my contact page You can submit stuff there and we can start a conversation.

[00:22:47] And then again if you’re Interested in pips and doing that. I greatly appreciate checking out the PIP ID channel, PIP ideas channel on the Star Atlas discord. Love for you to get any feedback and of course love a thumbs up. And then if you’re interested in my Star Atlas mugs, please go to intergalacticgear.

[00:23:03] com. And if you’re interested in getting together and forming a new Star Atlas gamer community at intergalacticcoalition. com Got an interest survey there to see if we can get a critical mass to kind of launch that platform. So anyways hope hope all find this all interesting. Thanks for listening.

[00:23:20] Have a great week ahead. This is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald.
