[00:00:00] Hi, this is Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my startless week in review podcast. This is podcast number 92. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website at Intergalactic Herald, just look for news recap, number one 41. So just a quick summary of things to go over today. There was a command deck podcast.
[00:00:19] So some great thoughts came out of that one. The team startless team announced some changes to Sage. They also announced a black Friday sale, which. By the time I’m recording this, Oh, actually it’s not over. It was black Friday, but I think it was going for three days, but anyways, and then the Alice brew occurred this last week.
[00:00:36] So, but before I get to that, let me give you a couple updates on some of my projects I’m working on. And actually I am officially announcing a new project. This is part of the reason why I wasn’t doing much at my merch store, but until I actually published it, I didn’t want to mention anything. So I’ve actually submitted a PIP.
[00:00:51] So again, that’s the, what is it? Polis Improvement Project. Proposal. Anyways, it’s the things that you can submit to the star Atlas Dow for voting on by the polls holders for potentially different changes. Anyone who’s been in the star Atlas and has been kind of following the Dow knows that there were a specific PIP was passed that allocated a certain amount of money for well, I think they call it the ecosystem fund.
[00:01:15] So it was designed to help. Promote different community led projects that gives different Star Atlas experiences and things like that. So actually I took the initiative on one of the suggestions that was in that PIP, I think it was PIP number four to help with community meetups. So I’ve actually created a proposal to create a platform for doing in person community meetups.
[00:01:35] So that’s the kind of title of my PIP Again, in person community media platforms you can read all about it, but just a quick summary. It’s basically a website. I know I called it a platform, but you know, it’s a website where ultimately anyone in the world could come on and set up an event where you want to get together with other Star Atlas community members in your local town, city, you know, Guess it’s up to you as a host to determine the parameters.
[00:02:02] You know, do you want to meet for coffee, drinks, a meal, something else you know, hang out at a library or something like that. Again, it’s pretty wide open. The idea is again, to facilitate and hopefully encourage people to meet up in person with other community members, but of course. Where do you do that?
[00:02:19] Discord isn’t the best place for that. So anyways, that’s basically my proposal. It does have actually an incentive program where the hosts can actually get paid to do this. So again, the money will come from the Star Atlas DAO treasury to help do this. But again, since it’s promoting and you know, Star Atlas community feels like it’s it’s worth it.
[00:02:36] Pretty good idea. And that’s why I ran with it. So if you go into the starless discord, into the, kind of the Dow section, there is a channel called pip ideas. You can, you can find it. It’s called in person community meetup platform. We love if you could take a look at that, if you have any feedback or any questions, please comment on that thread or post or whatever, but if you don’t mind, I’m going to ask for a favor or for your help to move to the next phase.
[00:03:00] The each proposal does need to get a 25 thumbs up. So, you know, the little icon out of there, if you could click that little thumbs up icon, I’d greatly appreciate that. So I can move this PIP forward into the different parts of the the, the governance process for the DAO. So again take a look at PIP ideas channel inside the star us discord and look for the in person community meetup platform though.
[00:03:23] My name’s there too. So, so moving on to the other normal things. If you listen to my podcast, yes, I do have a merch store. Actually I tend to finally start getting back to it. We’ll, we’ll see. I have some time potentially scheduled for tomorrow to work on some more things there, but you can go to intergalacticgear.
[00:03:38] com. It is open for business. Just has some mugs just so far, but hopefully again. Been working on another product line. Otherwise there is a merch survey there you can fill out. Good glad to get any feedback from you. And then finally, I am eventually going to hopefully get around to creating a star house community.
[00:03:54] It’s a little different than some of the other communities. One is just for gamers. It’s not really a guild. In fact, I called it a non guild guild, but it’s anyways, a place for people to hang out, use a different platform so that you can kind of be a little more asynchronous about threads and email alerts when you want things, so please check out intergalacticcoalition.
[00:04:12] com if you’re interested in that, and I do have an interest survey there. So go ahead and get into the content so again people who have listened before knows I kind of do a week in review, but sometimes goes a little past week, so KeplerNet, I believe, is hosting with a few other people. I’m not sure if they’re regulars or not.
[00:04:29] They’ve only had a couple podcasts. I think they did it kind of back during the summer. I didn’t really follow back then, so I’m not sure. Again, it’s the same group of people. But again, you can find a link to it in my news recap. Again, you go to my website, intergalacticherald. com, look for news recap number 141.
[00:04:45] But the command deck is kind of a roundtable I think they do sometimes in Spanish, I’m not 100 percent sure of that, but they do occasionally do an English version, which I’m sorry, I’m not bi or tri or multiple lingual, I’m just very, anyways, so so anyways, they did a, a great roundtable discussion about different things interesting many conversations.
[00:05:05] One that I kind of pulled out that I’ve been feeling, and again, if you’ve been listening to the podcast, you know, that is the Solanofis. So yeah, actually it was really great. I actually forgot this one. They interviewed Santi, the community director. So they were actually well, kind of growing with a lot of questions.
[00:05:18] So, but anyways, one of the interesting ones that did come up was about the soul. I’ve been talking about in my kind of journey playing Star Atlas or in this case playing Sage. And it was mentioned, I think again, Santee said, that the team is very well aware of the issues with the Solana fees, and they do want to have different They do have some ideas on how they may be able to reduce fees going forward, but again part of it is they got other priorities, and yeah, I mean, totally makes sense, but it was just, I guess, nice to hear that, yeah, it’s not falling on deaf ears or something like that.
[00:05:53] But one of the interesting things that was mentioned that I had never even thought about, and again, since I’m putting that PIP out there, I’m a little more familiar now with PIPs. Dow treasury and how much money is in there and the coins and things like that. Because again, there was a set fund for this ecosystem improving things.
[00:06:10] But anyways one idea was brought up is actually to have the Dow pay the Solana fees and I was like, okay. And then after it sunk in, I was like, could it happen? And I guess, and again, they must have done some internal calculations to the star Atlas team, because it sounded like that. Because the, the, the DAO gets fees from things happening in the game, which again, I’m not totally up to speed on all of that because again, I just haven’t been paying attention to the DAO treasury.
[00:06:44] But you could have actually had the DAO pay because the DAO treasury would still grow, but I’m not really sure. Again, this is, this is where I’m just not a blockchain guy. But. Because Star Atlas sees all this stuff, they know how much fees are being paid in Sol, because they see all the transactions.
[00:07:04] So, basically it sounded like that, The Dow Treasury could still continue to grow, obviously not as much, but they could, in effect, subsidize all the Dow, or sorry, all the sole fees. And then there was some talk about, well, you know, do you give it to the whales, and how do you, you know, is it fair, or just do a blanket statement.
[00:07:23] Anyway, it was just a really eye opening thing to know that, I mean, that’s actually kind of cool. And I, I, I would, again Obviously you want to hear the details and all that, but just the fact that the DAO is making enough money that really could subsidize the fees. Because again, I’ve said many times, I don’t mind paying a fee playing Star Alice if it goes into something about Star Alice, i.
[00:07:46] e. the DAO treasure, even if, again, it’s not directly back to gameplay. Again, it’s funding something. But the Solana fees just basically evaporate. I mean, it’s for the I mean, I get why they’re there because that powers the Solana blockchain and why the validators want to be there and things like that.
[00:08:04] But, again, doesn’t necessarily come back into the Star Atlas ecosystem. So anyways, it was just an interesting idea and I’m glad to hear that, I mean, maybe nothing’s going to change immediately, but they’re definitely looking at things. So you can see, again, a whole bunch of in the future, which, but now they’re starting to kind of all click and, and I found that really interesting.
[00:08:26] So next topic Star Atlas team did announce some changes in Sage which was great. Cause I thought again, it was kind of done or not done, but just not being worked on. And it related to some SDU scanning. So again, if you want to get all the details, cause I well, I decided not to keep scanning for SDUs.
[00:08:43] So I’ve kind of just let that go by the wayside. Partly because my goal is again if you’ve been listening Redeem a Mamba X and there’s no SDUs So I’ve stopped doing that. But anyways, if you are scanning for SDUs there are some changes. Go to startless discord. They’ll give me, I think it’s either the announcements or minor announcements, or.
[00:09:04] Game Changes, I don’t know, one of the announcements channels at the top, and you can read all about it. So so that was kind of interesting. The second thing they mentioned was that some of the resources for the MUD Starbases are going to be changed around. Yeah, so apparently there was a need for changing some of that stuff, so great.
[00:09:20] Listening again to community feedback, so that’s great. And then the final thing I think was an announcement was a Black Friday sale, though I think they called it a Black Hole Friday sale. Again, very clever. I wonder this is again, a marketing boy, now that you got a marketing director, but whatever.
[00:09:35] But anyways, I think it was a very nice to have again, it, the ship was still too expensive for my budget, but just again, kind of getting in with all the other stuff. And so it was nice to see some topical things going on. So again, I think I’m recording this. Well, actually, by the time you get it, I think it’s over, but again, Hopefully you’re checking the StarHouse Discord and you know about it already, so I’m not, I should not be your source of breaking news but whatever.
[00:09:59] So anyway, so those were some of the changes the team announced, and then on Wednesday the Atlas Brew did occur. This time they actually did look at some results of a community survey that the community team asked for So that was great. If you even saw it and submitted, you’re probably curious about the results.
[00:10:13] I do admit I started it and I don’t know, just a personal thing about surveys. I, I don’t know. I just, I don’t know. I just, I just don’t like going out survey. So I tried, but then I was like, I just, I don’t know. But it partly, I just had no strong appealing Opinions one way or another. So I realized if I’m not gonna really give good feedback, no reason to submit it.
[00:10:32] So, but anyways, that pretty much took up the the bulk of the Star or the Atlas Brew. So anyway, so that was kind of the updates feeding the us was the Thanksgiving weekend or week. Or four day weekend, whatever. So not that I would expect the team to have done much before, but yeah, not sure if it was quiet for that.
[00:10:52] So moving into last two sections that I typically do kind of my thoughts on the state of star Alice and then kind of my journey. So on the command deck actually was very not sure if press is the right word, but it was just very nice. Santee, the community director came on and I’m Hopefully they prepped that they were going to ask a lot of questions because it was, I think, almost two hours of questions.
[00:11:11] So but I think it’s just, we haven’t really had a Q and A from any Starless team member in, in a while, other than the, um, what do you call it? Public interviews. So I don’t know. It was just, it was really nice. And you know, some things obviously weren’t able to be spoken about, but some kind of seemed like things we’ve heard that were reinforced and anyway, so if, again, you wanted a great you know, kind of, uh, definitely check that out.
[00:11:36] Again, you can check it out on my website, intergalacticherald. com, newsraycap141, and it’s the command deck. One thing that wasn’t mentioned, and again, it feels like This is all building up to these local markets, but again, the more I hear about it, the more I am very intrigued by this concept of resources at each star base that can be traded or sold and bought and then of course how this may or may not factor into the new or return of the RFR redeemable System or again, I don’t really know what to call it.
[00:12:08] But anyways it is definitely feeling like local markets is a next big thing. And it has been mentioned, I guess, numerous times now about pretty much being a game changer for Sage and on the surface, I totally agree. I guess it means only for people can play Sage, but as far as increasing the economic.
[00:12:31] options and you don’t have to move everything back to the central space station to move it out to put it on the one, I guess we’re calling it, or I guess it’s called the galactic marketplace. Yeah, again, the more I hear about local markets, the more it’s like, yeah, this is moving in the right direction.
[00:12:45] So and then I found one thing really interesting. There was, I can’t, I wish I wrote down the exact question, but I was, I was listening at night or maybe I was listening the next day. It doesn’t matter. Anyways, one of the questions was kind of like, What’s the future? What’s what’s the key to the future?
[00:13:00] And Santee had, I think, just really a spot on answer, which is it’s got to be a playable game that has repay value, and it’s so simple, but yet it’s, I think, just so obvious to, but that’s what it is. And again, I’ve been kind of harping on the past that Sage didn’t seem to have any repay value. This showroom, of course, Surge was great.
[00:13:24] I could really see that, but then it wasn’t ready for primetime, so it just never happened after that test. And, again, it seems obvious, but it, I guess it’s great to continue to have it said, but also knowing that the Stardust team is working that way. Again, I think one of the community surveys, again, about patients are having to wait.
[00:13:45] And, again, Anybody who’s been waiting, or been in this at any sort of time now, it’s, I mean, we’re now counting in years. It is hard, but the vision, the end goal, you know, again, a playable game with replay value is, yeah, duh, that’s a game. That’s something we would all like. So, again, it was just really good, and seeing it, and again, there were lots of great insights.
[00:14:10] So again, if you’re interested, That was just the highlight, for me anyways, but again, you might get something out of it. So again, definitely listen also I guess just given kind of the state of the content creation within Star Atlas Knight now with the Metaverse Nomads taking a break and now Command Deck maybe maybe filling a gap.
[00:14:28] Definitely I appreciate all the support you guys have given me, you know, you know, just listening or maybe signing up for my newsletter. News, the news recap or other things, but yeah, I guess I just want to plug any, any Star Wars content creator that’s out there, you know do the common things, you know, like put a post, post a comment if they’re on YouTube, you know, like or retweet if you’re on Twitter X, whatever because there’s only a few my my news recaps are getting smaller and again, it could just be the time of year but it does feel like kind of Yeah, just anybody who’s doing things, spending their time.
[00:15:02] Again, Metaverse Nomads are great, but I totally understand why they took a break. But, you know, any, any people that are still going you know, please do support them, you know, however you can with likes and shares and, and things like that. So, anyway, so that’s kind of my only thoughts on the State of Star Atlas.
[00:15:17] I mean, part of it was, again U. S., we had a national holiday, so I kind of had to, you know, Not had to, but, you know, focus on family and family traditions and things like that. So hopefully the team did the same and, you know, maybe not a lot coming out of them. So anyway, so the final segment, just kind of talking about my journey.
[00:15:35] Again, my goal has been to play Sage and craft enough resources for Mamba X completed the carbon loop was working. Oh, sorry. hydrogen loop was working on the carbon, found out that trying to have three fleets moving simultaneously, it was just eating up too much soul. So I switched down to one fleet and that definitely seems as a reduced the fleet fees, Solana fees.
[00:16:00] So basically the way I’m running it is it’s mining carbon. Once it runs out of a resource last time it was ammo, then I switch the fleet over to transport and it pulls ammo and food from the Central Space Station back. It turned out I ran out of ammo at the Central Space Station but I thought that’s a great deal.
[00:16:20] So I’ll just say good enough, hit it back. And now it’s back in mining there and I’ll just kind of run, run it until it runs out of some ammo and food. Actually I turned my laptop cause it’s right next to my mic. So I didn’t want to have it hearing. But I think, Oh, Hey, I have my paper. We had maybe not total.
[00:16:35] Oh, wow. That’s more than I thought. This at the mud three got over. 10, 400, 000 carbon and I had moved already 1, 422, 000 back to the central station. So obviously there’s going to be a large transport back, but yeah, the Solana fees are way slower. So, but again, it’s only doing again, it’s consolidated.
[00:16:57] It’s doing mine dock, you know, so so I guess that feels like this is the way forward as far as keeping the Solana fees in check. I did realize if I were to pull my bigger, or not bigger, but medium small ships out of score slash faction fleet, obviously I could mine more, but I don’t know, I’m still kind of of this opinion with my claim stakes completely covering the cost to resupply in faction fleet and one click a day.
[00:17:31] Or I guess two clicks, four clicks, whatever, very minimal effort. I get Atlas every single day. And then I do trans or swap some of that Atlas into polis. So I kind of feel like that makes sense. And maybe deep down, I’m a little, still a little fearful that they’ll run out of Mamba X’s by the time I get done.
[00:17:50] But I guess I could take the ship down, move. I don’t know. I, again, I guess since the game is not. finite in the sense of like, there’ll be forever amount of Mamba X’s kind of like, well, at least I didn’t lose the atlas that I could be claiming from the bigger size ship. So, I don’t know, it just kind of feels just what to do now.
[00:18:15] So I’m going to kind of keep it up, even though I realized, again, if I put all my ships into Sage, I could obviously craft, excuse me, mine more and move more. But I don’t know, I guess it’s nice to have a couple things going on. But, if and when Faction Fleet truly does, and obviously now I feel like, oh hey yeah, these ships can all be much more effective.
[00:18:37] So, to quickly summarize, one of the things I guess I’m taking away from all of this is, it’s, bigger ships are better obviously, but let’s just, once you put them all together they become quote, a fleet, so the individual ships are irrelevant. The only thing. Or, not only thing, but the main thing that seems to me that’s affecting my gameplay is cargo space.
[00:18:59] Yeah, I know, moving or mining rates and all that, but again, it’s, it’s how much cargo I can move per thing. Because time is not really a factor anymore in my mind because of the Sly Assistant tool, you know, so I get it done pretty quickly. Half as fast. Doesn’t change how I feel about things, because again, I just had that finite go.
[00:19:19] Anyways, so that’s sort of what I’m doing. So just monitoring the Sly Assistant, make sure the browser stays up, and just Plugging along, so again, making progress that way. So, we’ll see where we’re at probably. Not done with carbon I would assume in a week, but we’ll see. Anyway, so that’s pretty much it.
[00:19:35] So thanks again for listening. Again, just a reminder, I’m definitely open to guests. In fact just reminded I did have a couple of people reach out last month and I told them I was too busy. Again, I was kind of working on that PIP. So we’ll see if maybe I should get back into that or again do a little more on my merch store.
[00:19:50] So again, if you’re interested in being a podcast guest, please go to intergalactic gear. Sorry. Intergalacticherald. com, go to the contact page, submit that again, looking for community members other Star Atlas builders, content creators, team members, Star Atlas employees again, just open to chat, or we can look at the, we can review, you know, very, very open to different ideas.
[00:20:12] And then again if you’re interested in Star Atlas Mug, please go to intergalacticgear. com and look for you know, have there, otherwise you can fill out a merch survey. If you’re interested in a helping start a starless community that’s basically a non guild guild just for gamers to hang out, but different platforms, you don’t have to look at chat windows, please go to intergalactic coalition.
[00:20:32] com and fill out the interest survey there. And final plug again, if you’re willing to please check out my Dow PIP and the. PIP ideas discord channel. You do have to own polis and you do have to register to get access to those channels. So you do have to kind of jump through that step, but if you got all that stuff taken care of, please check out my proposal.
[00:20:53] It’s again, called in person community meetup platform. I’m open to any feedback, suggestions, questions, and definitely would appreciate a thumbs up click to get to the 25 25th. Threshold so I can move to the next phase. So other than that, thanks for listening. Again, if you’re in the United States, hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, all those good things.
[00:21:13] Otherwise, this is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. Have a great week ahead.
