This is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my Star Atlas Week in Review podcast. This is podcast number a hundred and eighty eight. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website at intergalactic herald dot com. Just look for weekly recap newsletter two hundred and thirty six. So just a quick summary of things that happened this past week in Star Atlas, as is typical, the, Star Atlas team did their Atlas brews. So we’ll kinda. I’ll go over my thoughts on that, and that was it. So…
before I get to that, again, just mention the things I’m working on in Star Atlas. Of course, you can check out my website intergalactic herald dot com. Great Star Atlas resource website with guides, directories, recaps, and a Discord news feed. Though, again, I will caution that most of the information is about the current game, not the new version, the, c four that’s being developed, presently. So hope to update content once, that gets a little more, firm and, content won’t change. Anyways, you can also check out my Star House merch store at intergalactic gear dot com. I also, would love to get together with other Star House gamers, so I’d like to put together a community, a little bit different than Discord. You can check that out at intergalactic coalition dot com. So as I mentioned, this past week was the Atlas Brew again and the Star House team,
bringing the community together in a Discord chat or Discord feed…video chat. I don’t know. Anyways, it’s audio chat, I guess. anyway, so, yeah, many things, was mentioned, so I kinda go over some of those. started out first with some, DAO updates, in particular, the latest, proposal from the council to build a council dashboard so you can check that out. Oh, also, if, again, you wanna listen to the entire Atlas Brew, you can check out my, YouTube channel where I do have a recording there. And then Earther with the Calico Institute also has another recording. Trying to definitely keep a couple options for recordings up so you can check him out on YouTube also. so then they got into kind of, what’s been working on currently in the c four Sage, public release. they mentioned they’ve been working a lot on the council rank system and the UI for that.
it was kinda mentioned again, they want the council rank to give you a sense of accomplishment as you level up in different things. but also if you do spend the time, there should be a competitive edge. So, there was a brief discussion again about the concept of, what is it? Play to win or play to earn? Play to win? Anyways, that, obviously, there is a component of that because you’re buying things. But, do want that you have to actually play some stuff to kinda move up and things like that. oh, I should have mentioned this Atlas Brew is more of the team asking questions, and then I assume reading in the chat and then commenting what they wanted on. So, again, this was much more of a community…
feedback…inquiry type of thing. So, not sure if there was again a full, like, report. It was more of just kinda what things were going on. So, somebody did mention that they do want some of the changes to the loot drops to occur, and the team agreed that, yeah, they need to do some things. they asked how’s the scanning mechanism…was going, and everybody seemed to think that was, pretty good. There’s a question about the onboarding experience, and, again, it was mentioned that, definitely, needs needs refinement. they were saying how the early period, is just too challenging right now…
They also mentioned that, some of the leveling up, to get to the max level might only take, like, six months, but they want it to be more like a year. but they did mention again they’re. It’s a work in progress, and they’re definitely fine tuning things. So, there was a pretty decent section on, claim stakes mentioned. again, I think it was the last one they mentioned that most people weren’t…using claim stakes, so they really wanted to try to improve that. some of the takeaways that I took. And, again, partly because, that is something I’m interested in doing. So they did mention that you’ll need a crew and fuel for your claim stakes, but they did want them to be usable from day one. again, was mentioned about rent fees, and I kind of finally got the. Or indication that the rent was in Atlas. not a hundred percent sure of that,
but that makes sense. resource production…yeah. that’s the purpose of them is to, make resources. they do want certain parts of it to be, self sufficient, so you could play other parts of the game. But if you’re playing with claim stakes, you know that they would be. they did mention there might be, like, a fourteen day fuel window. And, again, this makes sense that your claim stake would consume…
fuel. again, this current version is not an actual game. It’s just claim your resources. So, again, makes sense of kinda you put some inputs in, in this case, maybe fuel, and then something comes out type of thing. Anyway, so that that was a good update on, kind of claim stakes. near the end, they were mentioning just, some, small points. definitely, there might be another reset of the game, especially for, improvements or changes to the council rank. and then someone’s mentioned about, safe zone. Again, there’s safe zone, medium zone, high risk zone, and that there was, clarification that there wouldn’t be any combat in the safe zone. It just wouldn’t be with an enemy faction. So, again, it could be NPCs. And then an example was given, like, in most MMOs, you start quests and, obviously, you get something. So the. But those are all still,
MPC. So. Yeah. So that’s pretty much, the highlights that I put together. And, again, if you want the full…recording, again, my YouTube channel has it. Calico Institute has it. And, of course, if you’re listening to this on my podcast, you’ve already received my I. AI audio summary that I was able to put out, the day after. So you kinda got the overview that way. So, strangely, I don’t actually listen to my own AI summaries. I just, have time on Friday night to listen to the full recording. So, anyway. So, yeah, that’s, basically the one, event that occurred this past week in Star OS. I guess I should note, in the Star OS Discord, I guess the UE five version has been fixed enough that they’re going back to having, game nights on the weekends, I think, weekends. Some parts on weekend. I did notice,
unread message in the, event announcement channel. So, so it looks like the UE five is, back up and running, at least that, people would wanna play it. So, anyways. Yeah. So that was, again, the, Atlas brew this past week. just kinda chat, briefly about, again, my thoughts on the status of Star Atlas after this past week. Yeah. It does definitely seem like, progress is still happening. again, lots of things mentioning bugs, getting community feedback. So, again, I think we’re into a very, what do you call it, good flywheel of of give and take and building and bug fixing and things like that…
does feel, I have to admit, a little slower on the council rank and the claim stakes. and I only bring that up because those are two of the, quote, four c’s, which were again combat, claim stakes, council rank, and crafting haps. and to be honest, I haven’t heard about crafting haps in a long while, but, would seem logical. They’re focused on one at a time. So I’m assuming, again, combat was the first one and stuff they wanted to get in, and now they’re kind of…finishing up those other ones…So, yeah, I mean, makes sense. If that’s true, I’m just guessing. so, again, seems like they’re progressing progressing on on the plan. but regardless, again, we’re we’re getting updates on a regular basis, so that’s nice. definitely, you know…
the people building it even if, again, these are, AI assistant. Assisted, which is completely fine. Again, they are obviously now a very small team. So you would probably be getting information right from the people building it. So, yeah. So, I mean, another week in Star Atlas. I mean, what can I say? This is, not…boring in the sense of, it’s the same thing every week. I mean, it’s. Again, we’re getting information and things like that. So, yeah. So that was pretty much it on my thoughts on the state of Star Atlas this past week. As far as my journey, again, I’m still playing the current version. Sage, Starbase, and playing should probably be in air quotes. My automation is just, going through my mining loop. Again, trying to put together resources. Original goal was to craft a Mamba x. we’ll we’ll see if,
there’s even enough time. The fifty million plus. What is it? Copper ore I need. I’m only at thirty five million. So, you know, slow going. But, again, don’t have a big fleet, don’t have, big miners, things like that. So, but I am earning earning XP for the zinc. So, again, it’s it’s still a good thing to be doing. So, yeah. so, yeah, still mining copper ore. I did stop my transport fleet. it had taken all the copper ore back, and I got plenty of food and fuel. So, just let it stop. So I stopped burning up, Solana. So, just continuing to go through that. So, and that was, that’s pretty much it, for this, weekly update. So, again, do check out my website, intergalactic carol dot com, for guides and things.
hope to put new content up once the game gets a little further on. Star Atlas merch store at intergalactic gear dot com. And, again, love to get together with other Star Atlas gamers, create our own, non guild guild community at intergalactic coalition dot com. Other than that, that was the weekend Star Atlas. I’m Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Have a great week ahead…
