Hi. This is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my Star Atlas Week in Review podcast. This is podcast number one hundred and eighty five. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website at intergalactic herald dot com. Just look for a weekly recap newsletter two hundred and thirty three. So just a quick summary of things to go over this that had occurred this past week in Star Atlas. the Atlas Brew, the community or the team’s…
community event that happens on Wednesdays, was pretty much the only thing that happened. So I’ll kinda go through, what they talked about on that. But before that I get to that, just a couple things about that I’m working on Star Atlas. Again, of course, my website, intergalactic carol dot com. Great Star Atlas resource website with guides, directories, recaps, and a Discord news feed. However, I will be upfront. It’s so outdated because the game is outdated. But, again, we’re on the, the cusp of the, c four, or soon to be, I guess, just Sage, Star Atlas Sage coming out. So, hopefully well, I’m sure I’ll start doing some new updates there. Also, you can check out my, Star House merch store at intergalactic gear dot com. And, also, I’d love to get together with other Staros gamers, currently create our own community at intergalactic coalition dot com.
this is basically the idea of a place that, for Staros gamers who aren’t joining guilds to never let us kinda get together and hang out. So check that out. As I mentioned, StarOS team did their weekly community event called the Atlas Brew. This was a very long, detailed…c four status report there. you can listen to the entire recording. I have a recording on my YouTube channel. the Calico Institute had the also did a recording, so a couple different sources if you want that. also, if you’re listening to this podcast, you probably already got the, AI summary, audio summary a couple days ago. So that’s another great way. So those are places if you want to, get more details…
So the first part of the Atlas Brew, they basically, and it was kinda nice actually to have, not necessarily a road well, it was a road map, but it was also kind of a retrospective of how the c four road map has or the PTR road map anyways. So as I mentioned, the, phase one was longer than they anticipated, but, again, they added a lot of new features, that turned out things they wanted to put in it. So so that, happened. Phase two is about, they said, is about six weeks, and it was…ending…soon. they mentioned that they were probably gonna release the new version, the phase three. I don’t remember seeing an announcement. So, I’m not sure if it had come out as of now. Anyways, I just listened to the brew, from a couple days ago. So, anyways but they said it was about six,
six weeks on that. And then they’re moving into the two final phases, phase three, which, we’ll get into kind of a laundry list of everything they talked about that’s coming. But they’re hoping for a thirty day window for that and then do, quote, unquote, a code lock…Yeah. Lock the code, stop feature lock. I can’t remember exactly what they said. I went back to software days where they called them golden masters. But, anyways and then they’ll move to a phase four, but this phase four, because, well, it’s again, features have been set. I’m sure, they’ll still do bug fixes, but it’s, again, also the, quote unquote, go to market strategy and getting ready for the Zynq launch. So they were projecting that to be a thirty to forty five day window. So I think, again, if, the phase three does come out…
now, it is also, September first. So it kinda sounds like goal is a September…phase three and then October…phase four. But, again, I think once they actually start marketing, this stuff will become way clearer. they also, did, kinda go off on a tangent, again, talking about zinc. that that is, again, definitely what it’s gonna launch with Sage. And, though they haven’t really promoted Zynq or features or because I do want it to be an independent thing. since Sage will be the primary driver of its blockchain, it it already has what it needs to be a functional, blockchain. So, they did also mention, still looking for validators, but I don’t know if that’s they have to get more validators or they just like more validators. But, I think, again, that feels like something that’ll go hand in hand with kind of the marketing effort,
of the, Sage. again, once it rebrands from c four just to start out Sage or just Sage. Yeah. Those all come there. So I think I think we’ll find out more after the phase three is over. So…the bulk of the Atlas Brew was talking about the phase three. And, again, kind of a laundry as to kinda got the feeling they were re off an internal checklist, which is great. So…
on all the details, do check out the recordings. they mentioned again they’ll be putting in the diplomacy module. There will be the, start, the prologue to the single player campaign, but not the whole thing. And I think that’s, makes perfect sense. No reason to spoil that, which is, again, perfect onboarding mechanism. But Iglis will get see something. they talked that they are changing up the resource…
locations, again, spreading those out, making them less available as the test, pretty much, I guess, they’re everywhere. But, right so, you know, you wouldn’t find resources everywhere. They’ll make the council rank system a little more prominent. I still, to this day, am not clear enough, but, again, I’m not playing. So it might be really obvious once you get into the game. So, they’ll be making some adjustments and more realistic, fleet sizes and the point system that works to that. Movement speed is gonna become much more what the final part is, which, again, it’ll take a long time. Hence, you know, the map will feel larger only because to get from one part to another will be much more, like, quote, unquote, realistic. Mining rates, will be changing. They also mentioned ships. currently let’s see. What was it? They took away the ability for ships to mine, but now they’re bringing that back, but only on asteroids. But, apparently, they can mine planets now, and,
this also goes to that, you know, ships shouldn’t mine. Mining things should mine. So, getting back to, the roles of what the ship’s supposed to do, they also mentioned again, scanning types will start becoming much more prominent. Ship configurations, will finally kinda be…you know, in there, so you can modify. But, you know, if you don’t do anything, you know, you have a really basic ship. I guess some of the respawn logic, if you get stranded and you wanna respawn, they were trying to make again that back to what that was. they kinda clarified again on these, starter bundles, that they’re not something I actually buy. It’s just more of in phase…
three or maybe it was four. Can’t remember. you’ll pretty much get a copy of what you have now to just play around with, but it’s not real. but at least, you know, you can actually start experimenting with your own things. and then, again, you mentioned, which has come up a few times now, these medallions. And, again, since I’m not really plain sage, maybe it’s in there. But, first try, I heard you take a medallion and you exchange it for Atlas. So, again, that might be the, one of the ways that, you can gain or redeem Atlas within the game. There was a short discussion on some of the enhancements to the, what was it called? The Nemesis engine, but basically what the MPCs can do. So apparently, they can even garrison in star bases. so you have to kick them out if you want that star base.
they also mentioned they would attack, but sometimes they’ll just run away. So, yeah. Definitely feeling like…interesting…extra things, people and characters in the game. Also, some of the ammo things will be changing related to combat and other things like that. So, yeah, so that was a very long I think I got all the main points. I don’t go into the right detail. But, I mean, yeah, this is all…yeah. This is what you would expect as this, game is, progressing, getting ready to, launch, on the new Zinc blockchain and, of course, with, real implications to your resources. so they did mention again that, the phase three should be launching soon. They kind of alluded to it should be out before, the US Labor Day weekend, but it’s I’m recording this late Friday night, and, again, I don’t remember seeing an announcement. But, again, maybe they didn’t need to announce it because everybody’s playing…
current PTR would notice. anyway, so we’ll see. oh, yeah. Labor Day. I was toying with actually checking it out. This could be a perfect time. Oh, yes. We’ll find out. then they, wrapped it up with just a couple, highlights on some other things. So, again, they did say the UE five is, being still worked on, again, very slowly, but it sounds like some of the the major things, the multiplayer, some invincibility bug or whatever, they’ve actually, been able to address that, and and, we’re gonna push out an update. but they also mentioned that, they wanna get back to the weekly…
Iris I can’t remember what it’s called. But, anyways, where you can earn some more experience points. And if that actually, I do think I saw that as a announcement in the Star House Discord. Can’t remember…partly. I hate to say it, but my Discord news, announcement feed is broke because the API is down, but I’m sure the team, yeah, got other things to work on. But, yeah. So I don’t get my cool emails. But, anyways, hopefully, that’ll come back online at some point. and then they ended up that they did, somebody asked something about Zinc, and they did say, yep. Zinc is ready. they probably put out a white peep white paper, and they’ve been working on an auditing suite for the security audit on that. So I’m just speculating. I think Zynq would be in the…
cloned blockchain of Solana has been…built for a long time because that’s what’s running c four, and I think a little bit on a haulsome. So anyways, so I again, my guess is that that technology has been…done a long time ago because that’s what’s powering all the things we have now. So, security audits and things like that at the end make perfect sense. So yeah. So those are very, they did a very exhaustive, recap or not recap, but communication, what’s been going on, very clear on the road map, which the phases. yeah. So it was a really great brew. So just my thoughts kinda on the state of Star Atlas after this past week. Yeah. phase three improvements, definitely sound like they’re on track. everything seems to be moving to their intended, final state of the game as it is. they did mention again that,
to be clear, that this wasn’t the end of Star Atlas game. they wanna add more. They already have some ideas. They’ve talked about other brews, but this isn’t the the end. This is just a very, complete functional game. look at what are they saying. I always wanna say it’s an RTS, but they keep using…the four x. I don’t remember. It we’ll find out in the marking materials how they’re how they’re labeling this game type. But, again, it will be a standalone…functional coherent game that runs on a blockchain with, real world implications to your, NFT assets and things like that. So…
partly, if you’ve been listening a while, you know I’m a digital marketing agency owner. And so, I’m very interested to see how they start the marketing, not just because I’m curious, but also because then it’s public and there’ll be things we can actually start, seeing if, again, traction comes back and and people get excited, for the release and things like that. definitely, zinc being done is great, and I kinda alluded to it. I think it’s been done for a while. So but, again, that’s the thing that’ll take away the transaction fees, which was one of the, not roadblocks, but definitely hindrances to really get into it. I mean, I would run more on my ships if I didn’t lose soul fees the whole time. So I’m…I mean, like, I would make a lot of different changes. I might actually be, to be honest, encouraged to buy more ships, because,
to have the different fleets doing different things. But right now, every transactions is a percentage of Solana. So yeah. Yeah. So I’m I’m definitely, yeah, the whole promise of why they promoted Zinc and all its benefits to the having their own blockchain and things like that…I have to admit and, again, been following Star Atlas for years now. Thirty days. I mean, phase three, thirty days. phase four to me is, you know, polishing bug fixes, telling people it exists, which actually, I didn’t think about it. If they start marketing it, I mean, people can come in to test. I mean, it’ll still be running. So it’s…I wonder I wonder how that might go. That’s intriguing. I hadn’t thought about that. It’s not like you had to wait for it to be launched. I mean, you could start…learning it. Interesting. But, anyways, thirty days,
I mean, that’ll go by quick. So it will be interesting. I think the next, you know, two to three Atlas brews as they kinda tell us how things are going internally, getting ready for that kinda code freeze or future freeze…also, I was kinda thinking fall is actually a really great time. kinda everybody’s done with their summers. It’s…traditionally when a lot of big video games come out for the Christmas season. Yeah. So in some sense, I think, I don’t think this was planned to come out in the fall per se. But, I mean, if you’re gonna, put something out, I mean, this feels like a really good time. So, yeah, we’ll see, again, with the marketing and things like that. So, yeah, that’s kinda my thoughts. again, I don’t know. Getting a milestone and moving to the phase three of the test,
I think it’s a really big deal. So, yeah. And then finally, just my journey playing, current Star Atlas, Sage Starbase, continuing to mine, mining copper…or don’t know forgot how many where I’m at, and I know I need a ton. So, you know, just kinda staying that way. But, I did really, randomly before I even heard this, was thinking about maybe checking out the PTR this weekend with Labor Day weekend for me. Can’t take off a full day because, you know, I’m own my own business. You think I could just take off anytime, but, yeah, it’s too much to do. But, yeah, it might not be a bad idea just to, start it up. And and if it is phase three, that’d be awesome. So, but, yep, still gonna keep doing that. Solana fees just continue to eat into it, but, you know, got some soul from years ago when I bought it. So it I don’t care about using it…
Yeah. So that’s what I’m doing. Anyway, so, yeah, that’s pretty much it this past week in Star Atlas. again, if you’re interested, again, got my website, intergoactive carol dot com. Completely outdated, but, you know, been there for a while and hope to start adding new content once we get there. Star OS merch store, intergalactic gear dot com. And my, non guild guild…community, intergalactic coalition dot com. So anyways, yep. Again, that’s the past week in Star OS. I’m Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Have a great week ahead.
