Hi. This is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my Startless Week in Review podcast. This is podcast number hundred and forty eight. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website at intergalactic herald dot com.
Just look for a weekly recap newsletter, a hundred ninety six. So just a quick, summary of things that went happened in StarUs this past week. the big one, and it was big, was the end of the year town hall clocking in almost at three hours. So pretty much that’s everything that I’ll be talking about and then kinda some of the outcome from the town hall with releases and things like that. But before I get to that, just quick, summary of things I’m working on in Star Atlas.
Again, you can check out my website, intergalactic carol dot com. Great resource for Star Atlas. Things like my guides, beginner guides for getting into crypto and playing Star Atlas, directories of things like guilds and content creators and tools, recaps, the newsletter, and…
AI summaries of the events. And then finally, you can subscribe to a Discord news announcement feed so you can keep up to date without having to check Discord when the team posts announcements. Also, I do have a Star Atlas merch store at intergalactic gear dot com. very low selection. Sorry.
Just haven’t had a lot of time to work on it. it’s hard enough just getting the ecommerce stuff working, let alone putting the products in there. But anyways, you can check that out at intergalactic gear dot com. Also, I’m trying to get together a Star Atlas, community for gamers who aren’t joining guilds, so please check out intergalacticcoalition dot com. So let’s get right into it.
Again, the big thing, the Atlas Brew was…superseded by the year end town hall. Like I said, it was almost three hours. So I’ll kinda go over…what was there. Couple of great resources if you want to. One, of course, is the full recording.
Star Atlas TV’s YouTube channel has that. If you did…
a written summary of that, so you can check that out there. A link to that is in my newsletter one ninety six. And then I do have a I think it clocked in about seven or eight minutes AI summary of it. I actually listened to the summary before I actually watched the town hall, and I have to admit AI did pretty good job. So, if you definitely wanna get just the highlights or the too long, didn’t read summary, that’s really great.
again, if you’re listening to this podcast, you probably already know that. But if you find this through another source, yeah, you can check that out. So, anyway, so, they started the town hall with a announcement of a partnership with Tether, who I guess produces a coin called USDT…
So that was there. They didn’t give all the details on that, but again, apparently, it’s been something in the works there. So that was their, big announcement type of thing. Next, they went into the Holosim, chapter two release. they did say that should be coming out in January.
one of the team members working on that gave some visuals on different changes and things like that. they did also mention that the Tether might be a sponsor of that. So great. next, they talked a little bit about and…in context to the time, definitely was a little bit on the, Zinc. The new official season has started called Origin.
one thing that was mentioned early before they actually got to was that, they were, finally that this is kinda maybe only gonna be focused on the star house community. And, what was interesting is there was a post that was coming or a tweet, whatever, and then it came and…
sure thought there’d be other things. So, not sure if, again, promotion didn’t align or the time or whatever, but, yeah, it seems like, just was gonna oh, they said that was gonna kinda just focus on Star House community, to have opportunities here. So that makes…fine. No problem. again, they did remind that this will be the part of the official airdrop.
So any experience here earned during the next period of time will go to that. they did add claim stakes to it. so if you have claim stakes, those will actually start earning experience. There was some additional information about the multi pass. And, again, I guess this is the related to the thing that you can purchase, and then I guess it has its own set of leaderboard and experience.
So, it kinda seemed cool that it kinda had its own area of things…
After the origin, season chapter or whatever, don’t know exactly what your word they use for all this, ends, they’re gonna actually generate the token, and that’s they’re calling it their genesis event. Was again stated again the kind of test version, PTR, I forget what that stands for, C4 will run on Zynq so these are kind of all tied together. Some new information, at least new that I remember, they’re talking that there’ll be a bridge between I guess Solana and Zynq, and there will be no fees for that. So, ways to move back and forth there. But really, I thought the most important kind of new information was that the, once you move from Sage starbase to c four, you won’t have to transport all your resources back to the central space stations to be removed like we had to from the last ones.
so things will just can’t remember if they said I think they said they’ll all just automatically go back, and then there would just be, like, a single button click and boom, you’re all into,
c four. So I think that’s really good. Definitely takes away a lot of the consternation that we all had trying to move stuff around or just, in my case, to stop playing because it just wasn’t worth it to spend all that resources just to get it back. So I’m glad they’re doing that. Yeah.
We shouldn’t be penalized for playing. So and then they did mention that the validators for the Zinc blockchain will be now open, and they’re gonna have some workshops coming up to explain more of that. So, again, it wasn’t some news new information. It just wasn’t a large segment. Next up, we had information on the economy of Star Atlas.
Most of this was, seemed like it was…
addressed at the economic forum a couple weeks back. So at least to me, it felt kind of a, like, a, recap. So, that seemed fine. They did mention and, again, this is just because I’m interested in it more, that they’re gonna change the redemption…recipe for some of the ships. and, again, I finally looked at it, and it was totally just yeah.
I the numbers were so high. don’t know what the new one is, but they did say in, like, the last three months, nobody had redeemed any ship. So, yeah. So I’ll be interested to see what that actually, comes out to, and see if those are obtainable again or not. So…and then they moved into c four, but, again, this was a very small, segment, and, actually, was quite…
in-depth in the sense of information. So, one, I guess, apparently, they did have a internal target date of, summer, July, to get this out and just it didn’t happen. I don’t know. They didn’t really express why, but I kinda putting two together two and two together, it seemed like it was, that it’s so complex. It just took a lot of time.
So, gave some updates. I was just reading off a list of things, that were already ready to go. And it sounds like the most of the work is still related to the user interface, which, of course, makes a ton of sense. Get the blockchain stuff, get the technical stuff, and then you do the UI user interface…last. again, even though dates shouldn’t be mentioned, they were mentioned and,
but in, framing it that it’s possible in January, but not probable. So we’ll see. but again, I think I had speculated before that since c four s were on zinc and zinc had to come out, yeah. It seems like, one had to come before the other. So we’ll see where all that comes.
next we moved to the kind of final two sections, but these are the most lengthy of it. And it was, one, showing off a whole bunch of stuff in the new version of the UE5 game. Things like combat skins, new weapons, new maps, new modes of play, a lot of information there…
I admit after three hours and I’m listening to this, late on a Friday night, I just started fast forwarding. Not that it wasn’t interesting. It was just, you know, watching somebody else play a video game. So, but Apia’s, kind of,
article about this goes into more depth about the different modes. So definitely wanna reference that if you wanted to learn there. And then the last big section was going through the Galia. This was, again, shown a little or teased at, I think, a Lore Keepers a month or two ago that, again, this would be kind of a single player, game, in the UE five version, but they wanted to change it so there would be some progression and it’d be very story driven. I admit too, I fast forward through that section a lot.
but of the ones I did see, yeah, it looked very interesting. Yeah. I’ll get into it when I kinda talk more. So that was pretty good. And then they ended up with kinda two final announcements.
One, apparently, there’s some, and they were kinda vague on this, that it’d be a partnership with someone who’s gonna help develop their own virtual world within the Star Atlas. So,
we’ll have to see where all that comes from. And then, that the graphic novel, Core, is finally gonna happen maybe since about a year and a half ago. So it sounds like they might be releasing those again starting in January too. So anyway, so yeah. So there was a whole lot there.
Again, it was three hours. Lots of great information. great…
not recap, but great kind of work, status report of where all the development is going into, the end of the year and then into next. since then, some of the, marketplace changes for the what’s it called? Operation anyways, the repricing and things like that. So of the fact that now some of the ships are for sale at different prices, I don’t know if the buy…ships have came. definitely some claim stakes are now available.
so anyway, some of those economic changes that were mentioned were already applied…
Let’s see. Was there an announcement in the Discord? I think there was. I can’t remember. so, anyway, so that’s, already happened.
the UE five update has already been released, so that’s, also available. And then as of Friday, the e com report was released. haven’t had a chance to look at that. And then finally, the team announced they’re taking their two week winter break. So, anyway, so, yeah, it was a jam packed week in the sense of wrapping up the year, taking a break for the team, and going from there.
So, yeah. So that was sort of the week. let me kinda talk sort of about my kind of thoughts on the State of Star iOS for this past week. the Tether announcement was interesting, but I never heard of them before. Again, I’m not a total blockchain person, so I…vaguely understand that USDC is kind of like a dollar and it’s pegged to the US dollar, so it is.
This one is kinda like that but different. So I’ll admit I just typed into some AI and asked them what’s the difference and they’re both stable coins. One’s…
got a little different regulatory things. I don’t know. It did it didn’t really…I couldn’t tell the I don’t know what the difference is. So, but again, the team kinda talked about partnership, kinda talked about I can’t remember. I thought they said marketing initiative.
I don’t know. So we’ll kinda see. I noticed on Twitter lots of people were really gung ho about this, so I just I don’t know. So we’ll just have to wait and see how that all, comes out. So, again, that’s more of my lack of knowledge.
I’m just yeah. Just not familiar with all the different, tokens that are out there. Holosim. Did I not mention did I skip right over Holosim…
Yeah. I did. I apologize. That was the second thing. Again, I’m tired.
So after the Tether partnership, the next thing was the Hala SIM, demo. They did mention they’re gonna reset in January. Tether’s gonna be a sponsor, and then they, yeah, I guess maybe I did mention some of those things. So, so I do think that really that’s great timing. reusing it this week, I think, would it have been, bad, or I just don’t think would have been out.
Yeah. I think more opportunity for another launch, that not building upon the benefit not learning the last lessons learned from the chapter one release. So, so I think January looks good…
The one thing I just actually because, again, they were trying to do a, live demo, and they, Discord wasn’t allowing it. But just through the screen capture and thinking back to everybody talking about it, I mean, this sure just feels like Hall of Sim is a full game. Maybe it’s not three d, but I was realizing and maybe I was just thinking about some of the other RTS’s that have been played…
excuse me, that I’ve played. And I mean, it’s not supposed to be three d, they’re RTSs. And so I mean, it truly looks like a full game. and again, the free to play option, the lack of having to really, well, you don’t have to deal with crypto even though it is basically running the same technology, just all of it’s automated behind the scenes for the crypto stuff. So, I mean, again, I think this is a great progression of a gameplay mode, whether it’s truly tied in the economy or not as irrelevant because it’s not designed for that.
It’s really, hey. Here’s a free game. Play it if you like it. Great. We have a full blockchain economy where you can go off and do this.
And, again, the heightened, everything goes faster, and you can get ships quicker and all that kind of stuff. So, the only thought as I was thinking,
writing these notes is, man, I wish this had been the thing we got a couple years ago. But, again, hindsight, twenty twenty and things like that. So…
on Zinc, yeah, it was kind of interesting that wasn’t being promoted, but, yeah, I guess it’s fine. I mean, there was talk about influencers and all this kind of stuff. So, again, maybe…something changed, maybe doesn’t really matter if we know or not. Again, as a person already in Star Atlas getting more of these tokens for airdropped, I mean, that smaller pool, hopefully more information. So, yeah, I don’t know.
we’ll just, yeah, we’ll just have to wait and see how this all, pans out. And, again, maybe it’s a soft launch, and there’ll be more, information in January. Who knows? But, ready to sync this trans transition from Sage to c four and the bridge and, everything’s single button click and everything just shows up. I mean, this that’s all great.
So I’m glad, that this one’s,
much more, like, not even an issue. Just sorta happens. So that’s cool. on c four…
I guess, in retrospect, I’m it I didn’t think it would come out, and so I’m not really surprised that it didn’t come out. also knowing that zinc had to come out, and, again, it just came out the day before. But I think it was more of the thing that, even though they didn’t talk a lot about it, much here, they pretty much had mentioned, yeah, it’s a big deal. It’s gonna take a while, but everything’s progressing forward. It’s just taking longer, and we’re definitely looking to, have it come out.
Question is exactly when, but, you know, they did say that, again, c four is supposed to be the thing that drives all the transactions on Zinc. So, I mean, these are really tied at the hip and have to come out together. So, again and now we know it’s just waiting for the UI user interface thing. So, again, in kind of reflection it all sounds good. And again, wouldn’t have made much sense to set out a demo this week when the team’s going off.
So,
it is too bad it wasn’t early in the year. but overall…it c four as a concept, as the gameplay, as the…logistics that we’ve been seeing over this past year. Yeah. It all makes sense that this is the next logical progression of the development of the two d version, the economy, and things like that. So, and partly just because it’s more complex, and that’s what we’ve seen on that kinda…phase of the game that it just keeps getting more interesting, more complex, more things.
As I mentioned before, I’m kinda thinking I’ll be much more into the claim stake side. So, yeah, this just feels right. I mean, there hasn’t been that. So rated to the UE five, tons of new changes and things like that. And like I said, unfortunately, I kinda skimmed through some of the video.
It’s just not that wasn’t interesting. It’s just I’m just tired. I need to go to bed. You might hate me hearing my voice right now. I just, yeah, it’s been a long week.
Anyways,
but it does, show the steady development of UE five over this past year, and making multiple things, happen. So, again, I think this is all positives. And, again, the release has been made. Just didn’t have time to download nor time to look at it. So, and they have traditionally released a new version of it around this time of the year for the last couple years.
So, again, all feels good on that. Galia, definitely, partly seems more interesting in the sense of, feels more like what we think of as a traditional game. and I guess I mean, that is a hey. You’re walking around. You’re doing things.
You’re talking to p NPCs. So, they did like they mentioned, they showed a video where they were kinda demoing this. I can’t remember…which event. But, again, it’s there. And, again, if nothing else, even if it’s not fully polished and it’s sort of a work in progress and testing, it does show, hey, you can imagine where this can go.
a couple of times when I was watching it, I have to admit, I mean, yeah, we’ve seen the ships, we walk around, but I don’t know with just the quests and the people talking in the background and the menus and all that, it was like, yeah, this is a game. This just feels right. So, again, it shows the natural progression which I think is great. And then final thing, and I know this is totally nitpicky and I but I think I’ve said it before so I wanna be consistent. Three hours is just too long, please.
I know you’re trying to wrap up for the end of the year. There’s a lot of, I’m sure, pride of the teams to get this stuff out before they go on break. But there was so much content there that if this was pushed out once a month, you know, building enthusiasm for them to release after it, it’s just you go from Holosin to c four to Zinc to UE five to Galia. And, again…
it just feels like come second week of January or something, it’ll be like, what was all that stuff? Now, again, Holosin chapter two comes out in January, who cares? we’ll be moving on to the next thing. so, again, just yeah. Just there’s so much there.
It’d be nice to spread this stuff out to really keep, I don’t know. Just maybe it’s a personal preference. Just I can’t handle three hours. So anyways but, again, that’s totally nitpicking, totally me. So anyways, wrap up, just talk about my journey, playing Star Atlas, which I haven’t been doing.
But given all this information, definitely interested in, downloading the latest UE five and give it a little bit of a spin, particularly the Galia single player. definitely wanna look at that, and just see some of the other stuff…
Think I’m leaning toward restarting Sage to start earning XP, and the only reason is that maybe these new crafting recipes are a little more obtainable. But it feels like I’m willing to pay a little soul just to keep those, experience points growing. just with my locked Polis and Atlas and now the Clam Stakes, I mean, I don’t have anywhere close to…
I think I’m, like, somewhere in the seven hundreds. But, again, it feels like, hey. I was running those before. Why not run them again? And I’m pretty sure that the Sage transactions are good ways to earn XP.
So, still wanna look at the Sage editor suite that came out. but now that knowing made the other thing might be coming in January, I don’t know, but it might come down to literally time because there’s three tasks on my list for winter my winter break. So who knows to get it? So, anyways, yeah, overall, great town hall. nice to always get the updates.
definitely felt a good, cadence on what was released this week and what should be released in January. So, again, all feels good. Sounds like the team really hit their goals to hit these different, marks. All of them sound right. None of them sound rushed or anything like that.
So,
yeah, I think it’s great updating, and, again, we’ll see where the new year brings. So, just to wrap up again, toy open if anybody wants to be a guest on the podcast, please reach out on my website, intergalactic carol dot com. Go to the contact page or you can definitely message me in discord. name is me…
Also, while you’re at my website, Intergalactic Care, do check out any of the resources I have there. Guides, directories, recaps, discord news feed. If you want a Star Atlas mug in the United States, please check out intergalactic gear dot com. And, again, love to get a community of Star Atlas gamers together that aren’t joining guilds. Please check out intergalactic coalition dot com.
And, that’s it of this week in Star Atlas. just as a tease, since team’s going on break, there won’t be any Atlas brews, they said. So highly like unlikely there’ll be much content out. However, I’ve decided, to, keep with the thing I did last year, which was a year in review, yeah, year in review thing. So, should be recording that.
schedule it into kinda two parts, first half of the year, second half of the year, and, try to release those on the next couple weekends so I can,
you know, batch those up and, yeah, you’ll still have some content you can listen to and kinda look back. during the town hall, the team specifically said they weren’t gonna do a recap. So, thought that also could be just kinda cool to go back through. Got my list of all the events that came out with the dates, so, I’m ready to go on that. So probably record that, first part next week, and then I’ll queue up part two for the next weekend.
And then, theoretically…once that occurs, they’ll be back working, and we should have some more content for that so I can keep my weekly…podcast going. So, anyways…
can’t guarantee I’ll do all that, but I think I will. So, anyways, look forward to that. keep your star Alice content for the next couple weeks while you’re potentially celebrating the holidays and things like that. So anyways, this is Matt with the Intergalactic Herald. Have a great week ahead.
talk to you later…
