[00:00:00] Hi, this is Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my StartOut List Week in Review podcast. This is podcast number one 18. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website@intergalacticherald.com. Just look for news recap number 166. So just a quick summary of things that we go over today related to the different things that came out in the past week of Star Atlas.
[00:00:20] There was a Atlas Brew from the community team. There’s also a lore keepers community. Event. And then finally the team, or excuse me, not the team, but the community along with the team are actually having a shooter slash gunplay tournament this upcoming Sunday. By the time you listen to this podcast, it’ll be over, but I wanted to bring it up nevertheless.
[00:00:41] So before I get into that, just a couple updates on things that I’m working on at Star Atlas. Again, you can find at my website, intergalactic carroll.com, a number of resources ready to star Atlas, of course. Have a beginner’s guide goes through from starting with crypto all the way up to playing different parts of that.
[00:00:57] There are a number of star outs, directories from content creators or tools and things like that available. And there is a guilds directory, though I admit it’s a. Getting a little outdated, but it does exist there also. And one of the new things I’m actually doing now, and I’m still fine tuning it, but the concept is worked out, is I’m not gonna go ahead and create AI audio summaries of the community events.
[00:01:18] So the way this has works is start out with TV records them live, and then they go up on YouTube and I can then take those videos, run ’em through an AI, and ask to both summarize it and to speak. Text to speech back. Still trying to figure out the exact service to you. So you might hear the audio voices changing as I’m going through there, but those will also be available on my website as actual event recaps and part of my podcast feed.
[00:01:44] Additionally, I have two other projects I’m working on. One is a Starla merch store that’s at intergalactic gear.com open for business, just have a few products. Hopefully we’ll start putting some more things out there. But I do have a merch survey, so I’d love to get any feedback on Starless merch you’re interested in.
[00:01:58] And also, I am trying to get together a star Atlas gamer community. This is for people who don’t wanna join guilds, but nevertheless want to chat and hang out with other star Atlas gamers. It’ll be at intergalactic coalition dot. Com. I’m gonna use a different platform instead of Discord.
[00:02:14] This one is actually gonna be more about threaded discussions and you can get email alerts and things like that. So check that out@intergalacticcoalition.com. There’s an interest survey there. Once I get enough. People that like the idea, I’ll start working on that. So let’s go ahead and get into the content This past week from Star Atlas.
[00:02:31] About Star Atlas though mainly it was from Star Atlas. So there were two community events. The first was the Atlas Brew. This one was focused on discussions of the gun play. And I’m actually wondered, we’re calling it gun gunplay. I used to always call ’em shooters. I don’t know, maybe that word is falling out of favor.
[00:02:47] But anyways, third person shooter, I’m not sure. Anyways, talked about that. They also talked about some of the maps that have been created within Star Os and comparing to other maps they’ve played in games in the past. And then they also went over some of the tournaments that are coming up which I’ll get into in a second.
[00:03:03] The other thing that occurred was the lower keepers. So Jose, the lower rider had another, lord Keepers update. This one actually did discuss a little bit of the upcoming C four which again is the change to the star Atlas Sage game. So it’s let’s see, cs, our claim stakes Council rank.
[00:03:21] Crafting and combat. So he talked a little bit about that. Again, if you want to listen to those in their entirety, star s tv has the full recordings. But again, I do now have AI summarized speed audio summaries you can find both on my website and on my YouTube channel and in directly on my podcast feed.
[00:03:39] And then the last thing that was announced and is upcoming, this upcoming Saturday, Sunday, excuse me, is something called Iris Quest. So this is a community, tournament set up with different teams. I listened to the Atlas Brew and I guess the difference on this tournament as opposed to another tournament.
[00:03:55] The other tournament is Guild Focus. So you have to be a member of a guild or you can I think they said for the next season they’re gonna do a draft, kinda like the NFL or NBA drafts. And so they’ll be drafted in those teams. So you don’t. Actually have to be, I think, a part of the guilds, but it’s more of a ongoing season of guilds tournaments.
[00:04:13] This one is actually a free for, not free for all, but anybody can join. So you just form up some teams and then they’re gonna be playing the Sunday in some sort of fashion. I joined their discord, but not exactly sure what the format is, but something that is coming up. But again, unfortunately, by the time you listen to this, when I release it that’ll be over.
[00:04:31] Oh, sorry, I won’t tell more. So anyways just to go into the other two sections I usually talk about. One is the state of Star Atlas and then I’ll talk about my journey playing Star Atlas. Did wanna talk about these gunplay tournaments, so I’m gonna actually try to watch on Sunday.
[00:04:43] Part of this, I have to admit is it’s just perfect timing. It’s at least my time, I think 10 or 11:00 AM and that’s usually when I’m doing a few star atlas things after my Sunday morning routines. So I thought maybe I could actually check it out. They’re gonna be streaming it. For sure within the stylist Discord.
[00:05:00] I’m not sure if there are other ones, and apparently they have someone who’s gonna be commentating, so I’m curious about that. And then the different teams there. Just happens aligned perfectly with my schedule. So I thought I would give it a chance. And I have to admit, I haven’t actually really got interested in eSports, and I think it hasn’t been that I’m against it.
[00:05:19] It just, again, hasn’t fit. Partly my game play style is if you listen to a while, I come from an RTS interest. Though there are lots of eSports, particularly in the past sorry, I’m toe focused on new games as opposed to StarCraft. I knew I had some star in it was really big and other ones, so I just, I guess I never got into it mainly because, I really played the games for their single player campaign. So I didn’t do a lot of the multiplayer or yeah, multiplayer ones. So since didn’t really play those, which is much more where the broadcasting and streaming and things like that. So I never got into that. And then other games that were much more popular, I.
[00:05:58] For eSports anyways, I just weren’t into those games, so there wasn’t that. But definitely gonna give this one a try. Really glad the community’s coming together to put it on, so That’s great. And sounds again, eSports is definitely something that exists, has formats, has styles, no different than traditional sports with announcers and teams and leagues and things like that.
[00:06:17] I’m totally, for eSports, I just bluntly just. Just didn’t get into it. So gonna definitely give it a try. The other thing I’ve been thinking about recently is the future Starla. And I guess part of this stems out of not that there hasn’t been anything in Star Atlas recently.
[00:06:33] ’cause to be honest, the fact that there have been producing new UE five builds is good. They have updated the interface for Sage. They’re talking about additional changes with the new C four project. Code, name, whatever you wanna call it. So there’s definitely things coming and again, the UE five upgrades have been coming and definitely new features, very interesting things there.
[00:06:57] Obviously now with the multiplayer or the dedicated server capability within UE five, that’s great. But I guess part of what I was thinking about is, and again, trying to get a little more into Twitter, which I think has a little more external. Community. Then the Discord, which it maybe is more internal community.
[00:07:17] I know they’re both communities, but I think different people show up in different places. Maybe that’s the best way to say it. Seems Twitter has broader people. But again, partly this is just. I don’t know. I, again, there’s been developments and they’re encouraging, they’re moving forward and that fits the roadmap they published.
[00:07:36] But still don’t see gamers or new people. And again, I’m not hanging out in the general, in the new new cha new player channels within the discord. Obviously I would never find ’em on Twitter ’cause. They’re probably not tweeting about, Hey, I’m a new gamer. But it gave me, again, thinking about how our new gamers gonna come in.
[00:07:56] And then I think it goes back to there’s gotta be a reason, and maybe this is a little, what they brought up at the Atlas Brew, that there have been a number of other in the last week Web3 games that have gone bankrupt or closed for didn’t really follow it, but for, I’m sure obviously they.
[00:08:10] Quit. ’cause they can’t make the game where they don’t have enough money. It seems like it’s economics more than anything. Or, ultimately more than anything, if you don’t have money, you can’t pay people. People don’t work for free. But it was again, realizing how is Star Atlas gonna be different than those other games that, that closed down or went bankrupt?
[00:08:28] Oh, sorry. Bankruptcy implies money. So if you go bankrupt, you don’t have any money. And I guess it goes back to again. To get new gamers into Star Atlas, there needs to be a product. And I’m not really sure exactly what that is ’cause the gun play the tournament seeing the different maps, that’s all interesting.
[00:08:47] And in fact, I think Don McVay on the Atlas pretty much is too, as much as it’s all exciting, it’s not really what Star outs is. Star outs is so many other things, and I. For that. And again, I still like the idea that you could ultimately fly around your ship, land on a plant, and then walk around with your crew.
[00:09:03] There’s, and you might have a purpose for doing that. IE fighting a tournament or whatever, or just, moving people off of land. I don’t know, there’s so many different ways that, the idea that you are. You and actually, lemme go back. There was something a couple years ago that I really changed my focus and I think it was actually my interview with Jose, the lore keeper that starless is more about the person and the crew, not the ship.
[00:09:29] And I. I came into it thinking you’re buying a ship, but you’re not a ship, right? You’re a person. So the crew is really more where you make your alignment and you then own a ship and maybe there’s other people in the ship, but you’re not the ship, if that makes any sense from meta, meta, physical state.
[00:09:47] Anyway, so I was going with all this is. The shooter makes sense. Third party gunplay. ’cause you can be that person, you can buy a crew, you can level that pers that crew up, which is you and things like that. So that all makes sense. And gamers could come into that. But if the ultimate purpose of Star is not just Gunplay, it’s all the other things, then how do we move from that to something else?
[00:10:09] And as mentioned before Sage is definitely the real life economy. It’s functional. Maybe some other games that. We’re no longer around and have a functional economy. But I, again, I don’t know how you bring people in. And again, I have beginner guides on my website to move it all through, but there are so many steps from I’m interested to doing something.
[00:10:29] And then there’s the whole thing we could argue or discuss back and forth is, can small players even place age? And I’m. I’m trying to do things, but I’ve come up with my own philosophy, which I put out a couple videos that, you just gotta think of it like a monthly subscription. I’m just gonna keep putting money in that covers the so salona fees.
[00:10:46] But anyway, to get to the real point here is I think until there’s a product, so a game or what’s called a product, ’cause it doesn’t have to be a game. I always thought the crew app, which you could call a game, but was more of buy a crew and then. Move to earn type of thing that we need a new, we need a product.
[00:11:06] And there has been talk about having this kind of different version of sage that’s faster and free to play and things like that. And that’s great if it comes. And, but again, we hear more talk about C four than we do, I think it’s called Hall Sim. So again, this could just come back to how the teams releasing and talking about whatever.
[00:11:23] But something a while back did resonate with me, which is a concept of producers and consumers. And if you’re gonna have a economy, you’re definitely having people that make things. And you have definitely have people who buy things. And we’re very well aware of that with all this talk of tariffs around the world right now.
[00:11:41] And I think this is how it was framed that, SAGE is for the producers. They’re mining the resources. They’re crafting them and doing something with it. And the consumers are really the people who want those resources. A year or two ago that was the racers who maybe to. Do something to skin on their racing ship, they would need some resource and instead of going them going and mining it, they just buy it off the marketplace.
[00:12:05] So somebody has a, again, place to sell. And this is where the marketplace is a perfect thing that bridges the per the producers and the consumers. So I again makes sense that Sage is for the producers, I think. But I was starting to realize is UE five for the per sorry for the consumers that again, whether it’s crew.
[00:12:25] Oh, sorry. Crew is the thing, the, I don’t know, not the product. Yeah, I guess we’ll call it the product is I wanna play a shooter tournament or I want to go into a racing or whatever. Again, I really hope, exploration and resource, all that stuff still exists. Again, they’re showing the mining stuff in UE five.
[00:12:46] So we, we know that’s gonna exist within the 3D environment, not just the economy thing. So again, I think that could be that people would come in for the gunplay or the racing, and then there’s some sort of thing they need, and then they get that thing. Whether it’s a ship or a skin or fuel to race.
[00:13:04] You just don’t have unlimited fuel or unlimited ammo. You gotta start the game with a certain amount of ammo. And you have to buy that on the marketplace. So again, I think I think this still all again makes sense, but I still think we need that bridge and maybe it’s coming. Again, I’ve lost track of whatever the roadmap is for the showroom slash UE five things.
[00:13:25] We’re seeing developments, but, what’s the theme that gets released? So anyways but again, they have been, little tidbits that some things are coming in July or at least some announcements and again, this fits previous patterns where there’s mid-year announcements and end of the year announcements.
[00:13:40] So anyways just again, thinking about where we’re going and I. When will we know when we got there type of thing. So anyways going to the, moving on to the final section, talking about my journey. I can’t remember if I mentioned this in the last one, but I have decided to change my strategy in Sage.
[00:13:52] So again, my goal is to try to craft a Mamba X and to, or redeem, excuse me. And then to do that you need all the Reese, a raw materials that you then craft into the components. And once you have enough components, you can then redeem the Mamba X. So I decided, given that combat will even, not eventually, per.
[00:14:09] Perceived to be coming sooner in the future than years. In the future, that resources are further away are probably gonna be harder to get and may actually have consequences. IE combat. So the first away resource that in my list was Diamond and it’s in, I’m not sure if it’s in the high risk film, but it’s definitely close to it.
[00:14:28] But it’s definitely the far away. So I actually decided to stop my minor who was doing iron Award, which was closer moving it out there. So I sent it out there. And one thing I didn’t realize, but of course makes perfect sense that mining diamond has an increased hardness. I think it’s almost four times as much, so it takes more effort which I interpret as more ammo and more food, but I don’t have to worry about ammo ’cause I have a Armstrong Mining or Armstrong tip, which doesn’t require ammo, but does require food.
[00:14:56] So going through food there. So this is finally the first time that the local market has been so nice at. Now I don’t know if it’s just ’cause diamonds. One of the. Rare or harder to get one. So lots of people are selling few fuel and food out there. I didn’t really even look at the pricing because whatever it is on the market price, there’s no way it can make sense to send it out there myself.
[00:15:19] So totally happy to be able to buy those out there. So again, this is where I see now the local markets are incredibly beneficial and it makes sense. There’s no reason why somebody who is out there can’t sell their thing. So another plus. For local markets and things like that. So that one’s out there slowly moving away and I’m restocking with food and a little fuel when needed for my miner that’s out there.
[00:15:42] I was still back to moving, trying to finish up my carbon moving it back to the Central Space Station. In fact, I hit some sort of cool milestone, which was, oh, it got under 20 million. So slowly diminishing ’em. Actually as of this morning, almost at, 11 million, so oh, 60, 60 million at the central phase station.
[00:16:01] So 12 more million to go. So anyway, so that’s really cool. But ran outta fuel again. So stopped the transport fleet, turned it back into a mining fleet, mining hydrogen, which I’ll then craft into fuel. So again, totally fine. Don’t have enough climb claim stakes to beat that or to keep up with that, so that’s fine.
[00:16:20] But I realized again, I wish I could have more fleets running. ’cause I do have one ship that’s just sitting there because it’s one ship and a breaker part, a fleet to add a fleet. Just too much effort. And this one ship gives me the option. If I totally mess something up, I can send it on a quick errand to.
[00:16:36] Bring something out. ‘Cause there was a case on one of ’em where raw material like food or fuel or ammo didn’t exist. So it was a cool way to do that, but I’ve decided not to run it because if I do one thing by itself, I’m still paying sole salona fees. And so again, to. Refresh what hopefully people know no matter the size of your fleet, the fees for Salon are the same.
[00:16:57] So bigger fleets, same price, small fleets, nothing. Now I made a decision on the miner to have it go do its own thing and pay the sole because it’s a minor and it’s optimized for that one thing. And again as I found on iron ore, it was actually mining quite quickly. So I think, again, this is just a hardness problem with Diamond.
[00:17:16] But. I taking that kind of compromise, but it is annoying. I can’t take that third ship fleet and make it do something because I of the opinion that. Time is a perfectly good constraint. And again, I actually decided to start playing a brand new casual game. Saw too many ads, I have to admit the ads worked and totally realized that yeah, to go things faster, you pay real money and things go faster.
[00:17:42] But I’m okay waiting on time ’cause I just wanna play for five minutes and turn it off. But the Solana basically, and what I was thinking again, is that I was gonna call it a tax, but I don’t. I don’t even want to use the word tax. ’cause unlike the taxes, the fees that we get in star Atlas, those go to something, whether it goes to Star Atlas, the development team, or the Dow or something, they stay with an ecosystem.
[00:18:07] So on the other hand, completely goes out. Now I understand you gotta pay fees for the people to run the hardware, to run the blockchain. I have no problems with that, but I’m trying to play a game. And so to me that is just a fee that doesn’t do any good and it has no. Proportion, I’ll call it proportionality.
[00:18:24] It doesn’t matter on the size of my fleet or what I’m doing or the activity, it’s the same regardless. Transactions are the same regardless. So yeah, it still bugs me, but. Yeah. Again, there’s been talk that start, Atlas is gonna subsidize this or do something different. So again, it’s not like it’s an unknown thing.
[00:18:41] They’ve even talked about making their own blockchain. So again, totally understand, but as of right now, still stinks. And then the final thing I wanna mention in my journey is at least in the United States here we have something called Memorial Day which is usually a day off. And this year, even though I own my own business and I haven’t really always taken it off in the past, I’m gonna.
[00:19:00] Truly take it off. We’re kind of client work and everything aligns, so I’m gonna, and nobody expects me to work that day, so my clients won’t get up that. So I’m taking it off, but I’ve decided to dedicate that day to finally playing UE five. I know I’ve been saying I’ll get around to it, I’ll get around to it, and I thought, you know what, just do it.
[00:19:16] So that video card that I purchased from my computer almost a year and a half ago to play Star Atlas finally we will get some usage out of it. So hoping to get into it just. Play around for a few hours, see how it all works. Indirectly I realized I have to also test a battery backup I have on my computer ’cause again.
[00:19:33] I run for my business, occasionally have power outage. Last thing I wanna do is lose any work. So I just need a couple minutes to save. I think the battery power or battery backup though, is lower capacity than when the video card’s cranking how many watts out of it. So I might need a bigger one, but of course I can just unplug that wi play game.
[00:19:49] So anyway, so that’s my goal for Monday. I’m gonna actually finally play, explore a little more, go back through all the announcement notes that I’ve been storing, all the new features and look at it. So hopefully next week I’ll have something to say or some excuse again why I did it.
[00:20:02] So anyways that’s everything I wanted to mention. So again, just to wrap up thanks for listening again. I’m totally open. Though I haven’t been really good at following up about getting having a podcast guest. So again, that can be another community team. Person who, or just somebody in the community wants to chat about the week in the past, definitely open to talking with other content creators or builders or employees to start us about different things focused on beginners.
[00:20:25] Do please check out my merch store@intergear.com, open for business. Got a few mugs looking for some Walmart. Again, if you’re just finding this podcast and you want some starless resources, please check out my website. Intergalactic car.com in addition to the podcast, and I’ll have the community team recap AI summaries directories of guilds content creators and things like that.
[00:20:45] And then finally, if you wanna hang out with me and hopefully other start list gainers who are not interested in joining guilds, please go to intergalactic coalition.com and fill out an interest story there and I’ll start building that community. I do need to mention that the platform that I’ll be looking at.
[00:20:59] Is a paid platform. So I will be charging a membership fee to offset some of the cost of that. But again, just want something in a different format than Discord. So unfortunately, this one’s not free. So anyways, thanks again for listening. Hope you have a great week ahead. If you’re in the United States, hope you have a great memorial Day, three day weekend however you want to however you’re sewing, bearing that with parties or NCES for people that it may be in your family.
[00:21:22] Anyways thanks again for listening. This is Matt with Intergalactic Car. Have a great week ahead.
