[00:00:00] Hi, this is Matt with Intergalactic Herald. Welcome to my star os Week in Review podcast. This is podcast number 110. Any articles or videos mentioned can be found on my website@intergalacticherald.com. Look for news recap number 1 58. So just a quick summary of things I’ll be talking about today. So beyond the Horizon, made a video about fleet rentals.

[00:00:21] Since I can actually now share the foundation room information because it is a public read only just some comment that came up on the mobile app. Star Atlas announced a partnership with a group, an A SI Alliance about some ai. So I’ll talk about that. And then the Atlas Brew had the Dow Council nominees and there was an also an lore keepers.

[00:00:44] Video. So but before I get to that, just a couple things on things. I’m working on Star Atlas one. I do have a star Atlas Dow Pip, which is a proposal. Improvement proposal. Ah, it’s a proposal. Get funding a grant from the Dow to build things and I’m proposing to build an in-person community meetup platform.

[00:01:04] So greatly appreciate any feedback you might have or thoughts. If you go to the Starless Discord, look for the Dow section. Look for PIP drafts. You’ll find my name, plus in-person community meetup platform. Again, love any feedback on that as they’re in the draft phase which is, open to both council and community feedback.

[00:01:23] Additionally I do have a star Alice Merch store called Inact Gear, found@inactivegear.com. Open for business. Doesn’t have a ton of selection yet. A few mugs, a couple pieces of wall art but slowly building that out. I’m also do have a merch survey there, so I’d love to get any feedback you’re willing to share on star os merch you might be interested in.

[00:01:42] And then also I am, kind of trying to see if there’s any interest in developing a community for STS gamers that aren’t members of Guild. So kind of calling it a non guild guild called the Intergalactic Coalition, which again, you can find@intergalacticcoalition.com. It’s gonna be kind of slightly different than traditional communities in the sense that most of ’em are run on.

[00:02:01] Discord which is fine, but I just personally don’t like the chat platform. Hard to keep track of conversation. So this is much more of a conversational based community platform. You can set up for different, um, spaces or different threaded discussions and you can get email alerts when there’s new updates.

[00:02:18] So you kind of don’t have to always check and. Miss out on things you’re interested in, so please check that out@intergalacticcoalition.com. I do have an interest survey there, so I’m trying to see if, again things I’d like to do match what other starless gamers would be interested in. Okay, so go ahead and get into the the main section, which is sort of the, we can review content that occurred this past week.

[00:02:38] Again, as people who’ve been listening to know that I kinda stop looking at content on Friday nights. So anything that comes out last weekend is fair game for my recap. So beyond the Rise put eight 80 video where he did some tips on fleet rentals and I think it was the next one video, some great.

[00:02:54] Points were made up about naming conventions, small point, but also fleet compositions and things like that. So I think a lot of great information for thinking of putting up a fleet. Definitely some good ideas for how you can maybe structure a fleet letter. As I mentioned had a comment or a thought on something that came outta the foundation room.

[00:03:12] Now, historically, the foundation room was a, oh, what do you call it? A gated or private chat group or chat channel inside a discord that you had to have certain requirements to get access to. And then the Star Alice development team was actually available for questions. In fact, there’s a question.

[00:03:29] Let’s see. It’s foundation room. I think it’s just the foundation room. That’s where the questions to the team. There’s still a foundation room chat, which is still private. So obviously so we can’t, or I can’t speak anything that’s said in there. But anyways, the foundation room in the past or recently was changed from private to be read only.

[00:03:47] So in order to ask a question, you still had to meet those criteria, but anybody could read it. And I believe the community team said the reason was to give everybody kind of access to the same. Set of information, which I applaud and I think that’s actually good. But I’m also okay if there’s private things too that are you know, not nominated, but qualifications enter. So anyways, but I have double checked and yes, anything that is posted there is free to talk about in different forms like my podcast. So one thing that was interesting, someone did ask if there’s any update on the mobile app. And so just to give some people some background, I wanna say not this year, but last year, first quarter at a salona event Michael Wagner, the CEO, mentioned that a mobile app was coming.

[00:04:28] Or was it crew? Ah, nevermind. In the past there had been mentioning of a mobile app that would be somehow tied to let’s see, play, no Move to Earn, and the mobile app would integrate with your crew. So made a lot of sense. Crew have a different price point, different purpose. Move to earn IE sort of motion exercise, things like that.

[00:04:52] There was another, app doing that too in the crypto space. And so they showed some I wouldn’t say necessarily mockups, oh, maybe mockup is the right word there. It was not a demo, but definitely a mockup of how this move. Or this mobile app would work and how the crew would integrate it.

[00:05:08] So it’d been something that had been definitely talked about on and off last year, but then near the end of the year, it kind of feels like they kind of said, yeah, we’re gonna have to move on from it. But again, it was always like, well, maybe if we could, but this question was asked and the answer that was given was indefinitely sidelined.

[00:05:26] So again, not. Dead. Never gonna see the light of day, but definitely not anytime soon. And apparently the reason was a motion tracking algorithm which was, again, I not sure what that means. Algorithms are complicated anyways, but motion tracking. And then the next comment that was made was it needed to be unex.

[00:05:46] Exploitable. And that made a lot of sense. I mean, if someone could, I don’t know, again, I guess in the perfect world you would, have the app on your phone and you’d be walking or biking or some, some sort of exercise and that would level up your character. But if somebody could take the app, put it on a simulator for a, a phone, and make that look like you’re moving by your whatever, the.

[00:06:14] Sensors are in the phone. Yeah, I mean obviously that would be exploited and definitely give people an unfair advantage and take away from the original purpose. So anyway, so I just wanted to pass that along ’cause I can, and actually it makes a lot of sense. I mean, it is, I think I mentioned in previous podcasts, definitely disappointed.

[00:06:30] I thought I was a great other part of the Star Atlas products that could be produced. But yeah, I mean. It does seem like that was, if they couldn’t figure out how to make it un cheatable, unex exploitable, yeah, I, I definitely understand and, and do appreciate now share that that was shared and we could share it globally.

[00:06:48] ’cause I think it does kind of put it into context. So this past week, sorry, I announced a partnership with I guess we’ll call it a company called a SI Alliance. Apparently that’s partnership is for advanced artificial general intelligence. Which I’ll mention a couple thoughts later and that this could be integrated into Start Atlas for future things like MPC, so non employable characters, virtual companions, and AI agents.

[00:07:12] So if you’re interested in the press release please do check out my newsletter news recap number 1 58 on intergalactic carol.com. And that’s link to the Medium article I. Not a hundred percent sure, but I think there may have been a Twitter spaces. Again, I haven’t kind of checked to see if somebody’s posted that, but definitely hadn’t showed up.

[00:07:33] Well, I haven’t found it yet. So anyways, I think there might have been some sort of you know, additional information. So again, if I find it, I’ll put in my, my recap. So, and then there were two star community. Team thas. One was the Atlas per past week. This time they interviewed the Dow Council nominees.

[00:07:49] Unfortunately, I, some things happened yesterday, so I did not listen to that last night. So it’s on my to-do list. And then allure keepers. Uh. Update, or again, Jose, the lo rider had a basically a chat about lore. So star os TV has put both those up on his YouTube channel so you can check ’em out.

[00:08:07] And again, I have links in my latest thing. So that was kind of the the highlights things that I found interesting this past week in Star Atlas. So, moving kind of more into my thoughts on kind of the state of Star Atlas for this past week. Again, like I mentioned the mobile app was definitely disappointing and, and a shame.

[00:08:23] Because it was based on sort of an algorithm issue, but kind of, I guess I. I already took away my thunder for that. Kinda gave you all the reasons why I was there. But on the partnership of with the AI company definitely that that sounds cool. There’s a lot even I’m exploring in my marketing agency and of course just in general tech different things that AI is brought to the table from helping write text to image creation, to now much more of a.

[00:08:49] I don’t know. I mean, maybe this is the way I use it much more as a a companion to assist with like generating text or generating ideas and things like that. So, I mean, I think there’s definitely a lot of cool uses of ai and again, it seems like AI and what it can do to help us will only continue to increase.

[00:09:07] So it makes a lot of sense that a partnership with an AI company can definitely benefit the Starless game in the long term. Now I, I, you know, they announced a partnership that, that’s fine. Just like they announced the alliance with the mobile gaming and of course the networking and all that.

[00:09:26] So I think all of these partnerships are really cool. But given the thoughts of an MPC, which makes a lot of sense, that in the game that they would be much more dynamic than maybe traditional MPCs that have come out in the past. I kinda, again, we don’t even have playable characters really, let alone missions and things like that.

[00:09:46] So, but it, it, I don’t think it means this partnership’s gonna take away from developing the game or any resources. Again, I, I think of it as more, there can be many moving parts in many different areas, and you do want to be prepared for a future effort and you can start doing some of the, the work earlier.

[00:10:05] So in that sense, I mean. Awesome. Great. More partnerships the better. But again, will we see anything in the short term? I mean, there’s still so much before we’d even have a, a, a non playable character within the, game again. We need a game first. And then on the Dow Council, again, I haven’t listened to the video.

[00:10:24] But just wanted to mention, I guess as a kind of public service announcement. Yeah. If you’re interested, if you own p ps, you’re staking it, which means you have voting power. This is one aspect of the game which you know, owning P has some utility even. If there’s nothing within the game yet or outside just locking it in the locker and earning some additional s it does give you the rights to vote on these proposals.

[00:10:47] And one proposal is for the next council. So this is an opportunity. So not saying get out and vote, but I. Hey, if you’re on Polis, that was one of the reasons hopefully you bought it. So you might wanna take a look at the candidate. I’m pretty sure the voting is still open for another week at the time of this podcast.

[00:11:03] I think it was a 14 day window. So anyways just take a look, just making sure you’re aware that’s there. And then the final thing, just kind of talking about my journey playing Star Atlas again, predominantly right now I’m just working on Sage. I actually, I take, should take that back. I did fire up the showroom.

[00:11:19] Ever. So briefly last weekend, I’ve been dealing with some video card. I’m not sure it’s video card issue. I, it might be a power supply issue. But anyways my computer was drawing so much power that my battery backup system started beeping when I started Star Atlas. But then I realized my battery backup system was not the right wattage and again.

[00:11:38] Works fine if there’s a power outage, but if there’s a power edge where I’m playing a video game, I guess, yeah, it won’t work that long. But anyw, who it’s not been a high priority unfortunately. So did we start it up and load one of my ships and look around it? So, I mean, that was still kind of cool, but on Sage thing.

[00:11:55] As if you’ve been listening a while. You know, I’m kind of working on the idea of crafting slash redeeming, one of the mamba xs, and I’ve been trying to start getting all the resources, so starting with the biggest one I need, which is carbon. And I’ve been mining out at a star base from more carbon.

[00:12:11] Carbon, but I ran out of am own food, which is kind of how it goes. Mine get outer resource, go back and. Bring some more. So I started moving some resources back. But unfortunately I didn’t have a ton. And with the larger, or actually as I brought in my bigger ship again, it’s only a small ship, I think medium, I can’t remember.

[00:12:31] Anyways, whatever doubling my cargo capacity that the resources I had available for my claim sakes quickly depleted. So my movement stopped. Oh, you know, I just realized I could have still used fuel. And stopped moving it. Anyways, regardless of the fact, I just decided to turn off my laptop and just take a break from Sage for a while.

[00:12:50] Partly because I really do need to figure out this local market concept. I think I mentioned in the past I did some thinking and my current theory is doing your own mining is a good idea because you just have to supply the resources. In this case, Amal and. Food and a little fuel, which can come from claims stakes.

[00:13:11] So that’s a non input loop, if that makes any sense. Once you have the claims stakes, you have some resources, but the transportation as the other aspect of sage, that seems to be the, the, the real one that eats up a lot of resources in this case, fuel, which again, you can craft. I’m sorry, you can mine at the central space station and craft into fuel.

[00:13:35] So that is kind of a mining one, but still I get this well, I guess I need the empirical data to say the movement of carbon is worth it. Sorry. That’s not the way to move carbon. You have to pay fuel, but you could also sell. The carbon at the local market, assuming there’s someone who wants it, and then take that atlas and buy carbon again.

[00:14:04] So in other words, the difference between the cost of carbon at a local market and the CSS, I want to create a calculation to compare it to the fuel costs and hence mining to ’cause I guess, yeah, if you’re, well anyways. I could see how this kind of branches out into a whole bunch of things, but that’s the point, figuring it out.

[00:14:24] So again, just trying to figure out how to get some more ammo and food to keep my transport going. I’m like, I’m just gonna turn it off. So, and again, that’s partly just well, part of it I guess is I’ve been meaning to do the research in local markets. I did. What did I do? I did, I did finish one research topic a couple weekends ago.

[00:14:44] Oh, I think it was just analyzing or not calculation, but just thinking about do I do mining or do I transport or do both? And definitely I decided that mining was worth it. But conceptually I didn’t do any statistics or analysis or data to prove that it was worth it. But again, my theory is I own claim stakes.

[00:15:03] I own ships. I can do mining if I can just keep the fuel and food ammo, excuse me, ammo and food. But transport seems to be a big one, and I haven’t even taken into account the option of fleet rentals. But again, one problem at a time. Anyway, so that’s where I’m at, kind of just taking a break from until I can finally just make the time to research the local markets and, and see it.

[00:15:22] And I guess to be honest, at some point it feels like I’m just going through the motions. Not really, oh, I got a goal and here’s how it’s gonna take, or whatever the case may or how, here’s how much this is gonna cost and here’s how much this takes. And I kind of feel like that’s maybe better worth my time at this point than moving different things around.

[00:15:38] So anyways that’s where I’m at on that. And then that pretty much wraps it up. So again thanks for listening again. I’m definitely open to any podcast guests, so that could be a community member. Just wants to talk about the, we can review Love A Chat with any other IP builders within Star Atlas community.

[00:15:53] It could be, yeah, any, anybody. And then of course, always. Love to have any team member on who wants to talk. And again, I’ll be upfront. I’m not looking for in-depth alpha or anything like that, but you know, anything that might be a great kind of beginner show, like one, I again, thanks Jose for doing a while back on kind of be beginning.

[00:16:11] Topics in lore. So any, any of those topics, I’d love to do a podcast on that. And then just mention my two start lists. I guess we’ll call ’em businesses, but efforts my merch store, intergalactic gear, intergalactic gear.com, open for business. Got some mugs. With different starless logos and starting to build out some Walmart.

[00:16:29] And I do have a merch merch survey there. And then again on the Intergalactic Coalition, which is my kind of starless gamer community with some differences than other communities. Please check it out. I do have an interest survey there. I’d love to, if you’d like to hang out and chat with other Star House gamers who aren’t members of Guilds.

[00:16:46] Hope we can create a place for all staying out. Other than that, thanks very much for listening. I really appreciate you staying until the bitter end. And again, this is Matt with Intergalactic Care. Have a great week ahead.
