Welcome to the Star Atlas weekly recap from the Intergalactic Herald. Below is what happened with Star Atlas this past week.
Weekly Star Atlas Newsletter 198 from Aephia – https://aephia.com/star-atlas/weekly-star-atlas-newsletter-198/
This past week unveiled exciting alpha on Star Atlas’s Unreal Engine 5 development, with Jose and Brad leading the charge on a vertical slice of emergent gameplay for the Galia game mode. This single-player, story-driven campaign will feature NPC interactions, missions, mining, crafting, combat, and exploration, beginning on the volatile planet Hecteria where players will join the Holy Servants against Jorvik pirates. A playable version is anticipated in December, ahead of the holidays, with unique custom skins for initial mission completion. In community governance, PIP-19, a comprehensive proposal seeking 44.8M ATLAS over 360 days for economic research and data resource maintenance, is now live for voting until October 5th; early results indicate significant opposition. Smaller updates include a new Discord system status channel and Crew Pack Raffles for Galia Game Night. VP of Game Product, Chypto, continues daily dev logs, detailing matchmaking and Paizul audio fixes, efforts to reduce the game’s package size (down 1.6 GB so far), new asset demos, combat racing progress, and an engine upgrade to UE5.6.1.
Atlas Brew 174-Holosim from Star Atlas TV – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSCQlyX4MI4
Star Atlas announces significant shifts for HoloSim Chapter 2, moving towards strategic, achievement-based gameplay over grind. The Chapter 1 leaderboard officially ends tonight (midnight UTC), with prizes distributed next week, while the storyline completionist reward remains open. Chapter 2 will feature hundreds of new achievements, simplifying starbase upgrades with fewer contract requirements, and introducing faction-aligned NPCs that will monitor mining in medium-risk zones, generating aggro based on resource extraction. To combat multi-accounting and resource pooling, the team is exploring new policies to prevent unfair advantages, potentially including freezing accounts for violations if resources are moved outside the game or between accounts bypassing game rules. Rewards will shift from grind to strategic achievements. The team also shared recent Sage patch updates, including crafting fee reductions from 7% to 5% and the return of the Fimbul Mamba X, alongside LP adjustments and module upgrades. Key optimizations are underway, including migrating from StarCom to RPC and streamlining fleet display to improve game performance. Community members are encouraged to opt-in to mark alt accounts for leaderboard exclusion within the next week. Builder Hour, regional Brews, and Galia Game Night continue as weekly events. The launch date for Chapter 2 is unset, prioritizing a smooth and stable experience, with the current season continuing for “a few weeks” during necessary fixes.
Monthly Builder Hour – September 2025 | Star Atlas Developer & Creator Meetup from Star Atlas TV – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRorWvsrlD4
This month’s Builder Hour delivered several exciting updates and an important community alert. Anthony, a dedicated community developer, announced significant infrastructure improvements to the Fleet Rental system, boasting 800 transactions per second in testing—a 20x increase over current Atlas Net performance. New features include a flexible 24-hour rental window and a loyalty point system designed to reward active users with reservation priority. This updated system will first be tested on Holosim without monetary value, with direct rental functionality also integrating into the EVE client. Another highlight is Yamik’s new Discord bot, offering a comprehensive Star Atlas knowledge base with tools, project links, stats, and upcoming marketplace price and tournament information. We also showcased PG’s Star Seekers – Ultimate Space Gaming, an arcade-style game featuring engaging Star Atlas mini-games and a competitive leaderboard, highly recommended for casual enjoyment. On a crucial note, a game found on the Solana Seeker Phone is utilizing Star Atlas assets without permission or endorsement. This project is not approved by the Build Program and could be a scam; users are strongly advised against interacting with it. Lastly, a SACH update is anticipated very soon, and the Starframe framework has already attracted over 3,000 external users, with user-generated content planned for future integration into the main game.
